@Northwind Garage Main suggestions... do not use loctite on self-taping spindle screws.... do not use an impact driver to torque them, just use a normal ratchet. Also replace all the spindles at the same time.

    Thanks. I just bought a SS5000.
Those spacers are there to lock the inner bearing races to the shaft to keep them from spinning on the shaft and making grooves.
I usually just remove the deck and service the bearings without removing the housings. It saves a lot of work and broken bolts. Especially on my Husqvarna because those bolts are engineered to break off every time.

Had a Toro Proline 120 with a really nice articulating deck. Thing had zerc fittings EVERYWHERE. Have a ZX5450 (74832) and it only has two for the axle of each caster wheel.
20:32 - Yes, you can buy the bearings separately from the complete assembly.

nice job. you use to could get greasable bearing and drill hole in center of housing tap it out and put in a grease fixing. if the shaft and housing are good you can only replace bearing. i have done a lot of them over the years the old one had grease fixing but people didn't grease them. if you did grease them they would last a long time. take care, be safe and well.

It may help some but these bearings they are sealed meaning their maintenance free or that’s what they want you to believe. Grease that goes into to the zerk fitting wouldn’t actually penetrate inside the bearing. What I’ve learned is taking the dust cover off the bearing filling in the inside with grease then pop the dust cover back on the bearing it’s like brand new again

It would be nice if Toro would engineer them with a grease fitting..Thanks For Watching!!

Great video, but like said below you can just replace the bearings. Although for what my dealer charged me for 2 bearings is just as much as a whole housing on amazon. 24.00 for two bearings 25 for a whole housing...

I'm getting ready to replace my spindles. I'm doing all three and replacing the belt too. Might as well since I'm going to the trouble of tearing it all apart. I also bought genuine toro replacement parts. It sucks that we can't grease the spindles.

I agree they should have zerk fittings from the factory. My Husqvarna does. Thanks for watching 👍🇺🇸

@Northwind Garage, Thanks for the video, I am about to do this to my Time cutter Mx5000, I am not sure what the difference is between the SS and MX but they seem to be the same, what Impact Gun were you using and do you recommend it? PS: I leave my belt covers off as clippings get under them and it is hell to clean it! BUt It is best to use an air compressor to blow the clippings out while wearing a mask!

Why permanent Loctite 262? Why not 242 so you can remove them again if necessary? Hope you never have to take those components off again!
Those aluminum spindles look just like the ones on my 30" Toro Timemaster personal pace mower. Yes, you can just buy the bearings and save some money. I think the stock ones in mine were made by PEER and cost about $10 or so apiece

Hi, I have this issue where my mower’s engine turns off when I push the levers in and disengage the parking brake. I checked seat sensor, it is working correctly. Thanks in advance!
