- i posted a little clip of me singing this song on twitter a few months ago and you guys loved it; so by popular request, here is the full :)
i absolutely adore daughter, if you haven't listened to their music before, i would highly highly suggest. they always use such interesting chords and tuning, and have a very very distinct style.
i apologize for the grain, my camera doesn't handle low light very well, but i wanted to film at night because whenever i think of this song, i always imagine singing it in the dark.
i hope you all don't mind that this isn't very fancily edited or anything, i just felt like doing a lil chill cover :)

this conan, the one in this room with the polaroids strung behind him and the candles on the little desk that doesn't exist anymore, the one who has no idea how much 5 songs can change his life. the one who made a playlist called "singing songs" and it started with one, and now there's 32.
i want to tell this conan he survived, and i'm so glad he still exists. even if some days it feels like just that, just existing.
i want to tell him he's gonna see so many people and they're all gonna have a little light in their eye, sometimes they might just wave it back and forth in a crowd. i want to tell him it's gonna look like another galaxy, but it's gonna feel like one too. i want to tell the conan making brownies with his best friend that he's gonna do it, he's gonna make it.

I remember when he posted this, I was in love. I listened to it everyday. I remember playing it loud in my room at night while turning of the lights and lighting up candles. My sister danced a slow dance to it. It was such a good memory and I can still recall the feeling of warmth.

Probably no one will read this, but recently I was listening to this song as I was writing my book to get inspiration for the toxic relationship in it. I almost entirely based the toxic boyfriend character on my ex which makes him pretty easy to write. It's been a while since we broke up but I still have bitter feelings towards him so I started wondering if it would bring up too many bad memories to base my character too much on someone I hate.
Then I started thinking instead about how I'm fine now and it's over, and now I'm using my experience to make art that will hopefully help others in similar situations. And RIGHT as my thoughts changed to that, the bridge came on in the song and echoed my thoughts: "Things cannot be reversed / We learn from the times we are cursed...Learn from the ones we fear the worst and learn from the ones we hate the most." It was literally exactly what I needed to hear and I don't think I've ever experienced more perfect timing than that in my whole life

I’m going into 8th grade this year, and it’s hit me now how fast everything has gone by. It only feels like a small while Since i entered 2nd grade. It’s crazy how fast our childhoods go by, one more year and I’m a freshman. everything has changed so much, but I don’t wanna grow up. In a few years I will have moved out, and I’ll be on my own. No more asking for sleepovers with my best friends, no more “dinner is ready!”, no more running to mom and dad’s room when we get so scared, and no more “have a good day at school!”. I really am gonna miss these days, it hurts to see it go, but we have to make it last. We are all on this crazy roller coaster ride until each one of us gets off.
