First of all, welcome back! Glad to see you again, and congrats for the new setup! Totally agree on the list, especially the loud exhaust for relaxed driving. My solution anyway is using a removable db-killer, so you can enjoy the revs when you're in the mood and have a quieter exhaust when needed.
Welcome back! As an 8 1/2-year daily driver, I can absolutely agree with all five warnings. The RX-8 is a great car straight from the factory. The only mods I've done and still recommend are upgraded coils and great performance sport tires like my Michelin PS4S's.

That's a great list. I've had mine almost 10 yrs now. You forgot to mention the biggest benefit of removing air con for weight reduction, you save the weight of any passengers as they don't want to go in your car!
Nice to see you back and still talk about RX-8. The most regret mod I did on my RX-8 is solid engine mounts. Gear change was so dramatic BANG BANG BANG. But the car lost smoothness characteristic which is unique to rotary engine.

Glad you’re back! I agree with some thing’s from the list but 100% I recommend doing a cat delete and putting a good muffler kit on the car. The engine is very unique and she deserves to shoot flames and sound like a screaming race car. Embrace the spinning Doritos. And a good set of coilovers at lower height can further aid in the handling of the 8, it made a huge difference for me!

I regret not upgrading the suspension and wheels and tires first. My decat was a daily pain, so I had a high flow CARB approved cat installed with the existing midpipe.

Welcome back! My experience about topics you mentioned: Decat/gutted cat depends on location. Here where I live I even passed emissions with gutted cat and premix. It smells when getting out of garage, tho even if police would stop me they woudn't have clue when I'll tell them "It's a rotary engine, and production was stopped due to emisssions" that's all. So no stress, no worry. Personally I like that smell, if only it wouldn't stick to clothes. The only thing in louder exhaust I don't like is resonance when cruising at 3-4k rpm. Turning on music fixes issue. Low suspension is pain in the ass, and best way to have it low and functional is air ride so I can set car height on the go.
Glad to hear someone got away with it lol! I’ve got a resonated cat-less midpipe on the way, so hoping to get your benefits without it being too loud. Did you find it made any sort of difference with the better exhaust flow?
@@sp3gg previous owner did exhaust mod so I dont have comparsion. But I don't think decat gives loud exhaust, slightly louder with pops and bangs. I have loud one cause installed toyosport exhaust. Love low tone rotary sound.

You're one of the main reasons I bought mine in 2018, first thing I did was to put the CAT back. Been driving it during weekends and only had a problem with the oil cooling lines which is now fixed. Your videos were super helpful to me at least. If I can make one suggestion, make a video on solving the issue of water getting inside the rear lights. I couldn't find a good solution on youtube at least

Glad to see you're back again. Nobody buys an RX8 for it to sound like a Prius. It's part of the fun. The smell? It has always smelled, especially on a cold start. Smells like fun. I live in a place where there are much louder trucks than my RX8. Don't get me started on the motorcycles. I love a stiffer ride and the way it corners is amazing with coilovers. I didn't lover it too much but I did have to buy a lower jack to get it off the ground. I had a S13 with a welded diff and it was frustrating. Replaced it with a similar LSD that the RX has and it was sweet. Sold my Sileighty for the RX. Although more expensive, it is worth it to hear her sing at 9K. Maybe I could have done a rotary swap?
I agree with almost all of your opinions. We run gutted cats so the police have nothing to boo about. Matched with Borla cat backs. We also run blueberry 2 stroke premix. Car actually smells great. If you can purchase a new quality high flow cat then... maybe. I just don't like knowing the the stock cat is holding the car back. Most stock cats these days on any RX8 will be clogged. Broken up into crumbs. At least, the 5 iv owned over the years have always been like that. Should be the first "mod" done to any RX8.
I guess this depends from owner to owner. The things you mentioned would no go trough in Europe, too many restrictions and too many checks. The hussle is just no worth it.

1:25 i had absolutly loved every min of moments of smell during 2 years of decat + premix, and i had that conected from start to a sick engine [warm start at least 3 sec] and still loved the smell if you hate the smell you had some major engine problems or you was blonde woman in other life
This is all why i keep mine completely stock. It is such a rarity that people dont mod the crap out of them. Mazda made a great car and it doesnt really need any help to be fun to drive.
i agree...i mostly doing low temp and better oiling and cooling mods i thought of delete cat...just to help remove more heat from engine...i dont have emmission checks to worry about...but dont want gas smell

@@DanielCabaceira I have the mazda speed apron, but we had to cut the exhaust tips to make them fit in the center of the arch, cause they were a bit too close to the plastic arch sides.

As someone who got an rx8 just recently I love this kind of video, just so that I know what not to do Although this is rather general and does apply to every car out there Nonetheless I’m really glad to have you back and loved watching your content back when I was researching on getting an rx8 and what to do with it!!!
I can relate to the de-cat ive done it in the meantime before I got my cat ordered and having the car in my shop with all windows and bay doors open the decat smell stayed in the shop for hours and it gives you headaches being exposed to it, I 100% don’t recommend it
I bought a new rx8 back in 2006, never did one single modification. Today the car has 197.000 km with 1st engine (no rebuild) and runs very normal. Maintenance schedule is under Mazda's instructions. I've never used premix, never did a track-day. Oil change every 10.000 km (plus filter) - I use Amsoil. Hitachi coils, NGK spark plugs. The most significant damages were the radiator (broke after 13 years) and heat system (I bought a used one for 80 euros). I have also replaced the shocks with original ones. I do red lines when I drive open highways - this car gives you a direct feedback when and what it needs. That's all folks. Keep your car as new as you can, this is the secret.

1:25 i had absolutly loved every min of moments of smell during 2 years of decat + premix, and i had that conected from start to a sick engine [warm start at least 3 sec] and still loved the smell
if you hate the smell you had some major engine problems or you was blonde woman in other life
This is all why i keep mine completely stock. It is such a rarity that people dont mod the crap out of them. Mazda made a great car and it doesnt really need any help to be fun to drive.
It is an amazing car, the stock version is massively underrated.

i agree...i mostly doing low temp and better oiling and cooling mods
i thought of delete cat...just to help remove more heat from engine...i dont have emmission checks to worry about...but dont want gas smell

Thanks man! The one i have i perfect, great sound, not too loud but also not silent. It's the perfect middle, and it also has homologation papers for Europe.
Do you have to change the plastic near the exhaust tips so it doesn't melt with the Q300?
Yours seem different, can you point me to them?
@@DanielCabaceira I have the mazda speed apron, but we had to cut the exhaust tips to make them fit in the center of the arch, cause they were a bit too close to the plastic arch sides.

I can relate to the de-cat ive done it in the meantime before I got my cat ordered and having the car in my shop with all windows and bay doors open the decat smell stayed in the shop for hours and it gives you headaches being exposed to it, I 100% don’t recommend it
I bought a new rx8 back in 2006, never did one single modification. Today the car has 197.000 km with 1st engine (no rebuild) and runs very normal.
Maintenance schedule is under Mazda's instructions.
I've never used premix, never did a track-day.
Oil change every 10.000 km (plus filter) - I use Amsoil. Hitachi coils, NGK spark plugs.
The most significant damages were the radiator (broke after 13 years) and heat system (I bought a used one for 80 euros).
I have also replaced the shocks with original ones.
I do red lines when I drive open highways - this car gives you a direct feedback when and what it needs.
That's all folks. Keep your car as new as you can, this is the secret.
