    "oh look another Marshall legacy cube, is he mono green, upheaval, or opposition?"
    .... yes

  • @anphoneron
    @anphoneron 5 лет назад +17

    Match 2 Game 3, the fact that he narrated the possibility and benefits of the Questing Beast play instead of playing out Opposition and leaving himself wide open knowing he'd be taking his theoretical minimum of 9, bringing him down to 6, against monored, with two prowess creatures on board, and then just... didn't... made it a lot harder to overlook. After discussing his different lines, he went with the one where, for the low, low cost of tapping every one of his cards, he would genuinely gain nothing out of it except for an early grave. With the circumstances as they were, playing it a turn, or even two, later had nothing but upside. Then when he lost, the only misplay he could think of was tapping wrong leading to bad blocking in confluence. Love the dude, but that game was rough.

      Yeah the play was definitely Questing Beast and it wasn't even close

    Did you just pass a hoof in the green creature deck???!!!🤔

      That was at least a defensible pick but the thing that annoys me the most is how low Marshall picks lands. Every draft he picks mediocre playables over them only to ends with his picks in the sideboard.

    1:10:20 I don't understand playing Opposition
    You've seen zero spells that would kill Questing Beast so I'm a bit confused on how you could possibly lose if your line is Beast -> Hermit -> Opposition
    Watching what they had,,, them flunging into the beast and needing to spend incinerate on it to get rid of it leaves you able to play hermit through port, and I don't get how hermit can manage to not buy you like 3 years of time to win

  • @jetsonian
    @jetsonian 5 лет назад

    Not gonna argue with Marshall "Opposition" Sutcliffe, but I like opposition as a surprise AFTER you build the board. Playing it onto a (near) empty battlefield doesn't scare the opponent and makes their gameplan really clear. If you play out Beast, Hermit, then opposition, you've held off attacks with bodies and then get to hold off bodies to swing through. Remember to take an extra second to think it out. :-)

    1:10:00 think you seriously underestimating the damage coming next turn with no blocks a single 3 damage burn spell is 12. is over lethal

    • @jrjamesson
      @jrjamesson 5 лет назад +2

      agreed, this was a massive punt. the q beast would have been a much better play, to create some cushion. Would have forced them to use creature+incinerate on it, padded the life total a bit and probably kept the druid around to drop the hermit next turn, *then* follow up with oppo to lock down.

    • @tomjackal5708
      @tomjackal5708 5 лет назад

      literally what the fuck
      you still get to play hermit into opposition and lock them out, you just have to not die first

    Some-times I think Marshell doesn't pick perfect cards for his deck just for the extra enrage comments.

  • @MemphisJagsfan
    @MemphisJagsfan 5 лет назад +1

    Match 1 game 1...when you adapted Druid, should have nuked his yard at EoT. You ended up winning next turn but...still should have happened.

    Where can I see this Legacy list at?

  • @jrjamesson
    @jrjamesson 5 лет назад +2

    I agree with the passing 'hoof pick. The deck already had Karn AND Ugin, two incredible top ends. E witness brings back a dead opposition if they manage to remove it, or a dead nissa or other PW. I think it's more of what the deck wants. That was a stacked pack though. (I would have also assumed by that point that I was dumping tooth and nail, as it isn't worth it without avenger or hoof or other creature top-ends.

  • @MrCytree
    @MrCytree 5 лет назад +4

    I am sorry Marshall, you are a great player and a blessing for the world of MTG. I love your content but I am so tired of seeing yet another opposition deck being run through. I get that it is a powerful card and will make it more likely to lead to a winning record. I am also aware that this comment is surely annoying for you, but I just want to mention that it is far more enjoyable to see a great player try to make some other cards work. If you curated all available legacy cube videos available on youtube there are about a quadrillion G/U opposition run-throughs. I hope you read this as just one guy's opinion and not an attack.

  • @mrmanatee

    m2g3 playing opposition was clearly wrong. Questing beast preserves your life total better and opposition is only good if you can get hermit down, in which case you can just... block with the tokens.
    Also, no reason to be running tooth and nail. What are you getting, carnage tyrant and a hermit? not worth it vs some of the cards you cut

    • @werdwood93
      @werdwood93 5 лет назад

      you need 4 green pips for it to be on par with ancient tomb and doesn't accelerate before that so it's pretty medium, if you can get it without losing out on a good moana dork or payoff it's probably better that the 16th or 17th forest in a monogreen deck but in two color green I probably wouldn't bother

    Tooth and nail had only one ok target (carnage tyrant). Should have cut tooth and nail, scavenging ooze and one of carnage tyrant/wall of blossoms/yavimaya elder for avacyn's pilgrim, trostani, and approach. With zero plains, already had 6 white sources. With one plains, 8 white sources.
