Yea, they kinda elevated each other. They gave completely new meanings to each other. The story of Arrival made this song even more heartbreaking but still calming, and the song made the scene so damn intense.
To be honest i think this is the most beautiful piece of music ever written and im not sure why but whenever i listen to this i get a huge lump in my throat and tears from my eyes and i feel the pure beauty of this music but also i feel a pain in my soul i can't explain. For me no other piece of music has this affect on me.
The last of us episode 3 could literally be a stand alone movie of a beautiful romantic tale with the most perfect ending! It’s one of the best episodes I’ve ever watched and this music was the cherry on the top
This has always been my favorite piece of music-it literally draws tears from my eyes the second I hear the violin enter. When I watched that Last of Us episode I was already on the verge of crying…then I hear this song start and it immediately came flooding out of me 😭 I’m not a big cryer during movies and my gf had never seen anything bring me to tears so quickly lol I had to explain that this song just gets me for some reason.
This is the masterpiece that always gives me shivers every time I listen to it. This is attributed to the fact that it is the one piece that introduced me to Max Richter, one who I now regard as my favourite artist!
This makes me think of two people who love each other deeply but know it isn't meant to be and the fact that they both realize this and must acknowledge it, is tearing them apart inside.
Yes I agree Damein . In fact it's happening with me and a dear friend I've loved from afar , for over 25 years . I've written a poem about it ________ to this song . If you would please have a listen and read my words while you play the video I would be most grateful . It sets the pace and the tone . There are no words. Mere words will not describe it. Words fall short of grasping this feeling. Words are so inadequate in comparison to this. And yet I am here writing what? Words.
I agree with you. But I need to also disagree with you. I knew about this piece when watching "Arrival". It's so beautiful and so suited to the movie I couldn't forget it even after the movie ended.
Watching this with the current situation the world is living, makes think and reflect.... Will it be possible at some point to recover our lives before the pandemic? It's sad to think that even the music got affected with the orchestras being unable to play on a stage.
Мне рвет душу. От осознания того, что моя вторая дочь не сможет насладиться этими звуками, этой мелодией. Музыка сердца. Глухоту никак не исцелить не исправить.
0:05 What love is this? We do we do what we want, yet remain empty inside. They say "I love you", but deep down you know there's something, more, to love. A deeper love that has yet to be discovered. We try everything to find it, but we can't because it always falls short. There's something about sacrifice that pulls the strings of our hearts, & I want to know the origin of it. & I did... I found something, rather someone, that did something nobody on this Earth can or will ever do. 1:44 He selflessly died for us, a living sacrifice, blameless in every way, paying a penalty of a debt that is due to every one of us. Every lash...every beating...he said "I love you". As the nails drew closer to the cross...with every hit from the hammer... he still said, "I LOVE YOU!", and on his last breath of life... he said, "IT IS FINISHED". What an act of love! A love that surpasses all understanding. If only we knew the magnitude and the grace of this beautiful love... Yeshua!!! Thank you so much for saving us from death!
it's strange how this piece sounds better as a humble string quintet, than it does on full orchestra. Still a masterpiece, but man, did Max hit bullseye with this one.
I was genuinely moved today watching Queen Elizabeth II funeral and this music matches mood felt in England as she was such an inspirational person to many. Rest in peace.
I see all my little life here, all my downs and falls, happiness and childhood, mothers eyes and hands of my father that i never touch again. I am crying
Heard this beautiful piece in the film Arrival and the show The Last of Us. I'm a hard man - have taken a lot of knocks - but this one makes me blubber like a little kid.
This piece is the‘ basso continuo’ of my life. In my adolescence, I had fewer words to express my thoughts, pains, feelings, and even myself. This masterpiece was an mediation between me and the real world in front of me.

Can't hear this without remembering the ending of Arrival (2016). The perfect aching accompaniment to that heartbreaking, life-affirming film.
They really couldn't have picked a more fitting piece for such a moving film.
This masterpiece makes me cry everytime, without fail.
