  • Ayo! It's a Sequoia, not a 4Runner! We get questions and compliments on our rigs all the time, so we figured we may as well make a vid highlighting our Toyotas, and here it is!

    I am absolutely in love with my 2002 Sequoia. $3,500, 190k miles, had to replace the whole exhaust with cat converter and O2 sensors as they’d all been cut off, cost around $2,200. Some new brake pads and speakers, fixed a leaky rear differential, turned an almost junker into a fantastic truck. I too am planning on painting mine and putting a lift kit on.

    Take care of the frames on those vehicles.....get them sprayed every year with either KROWN or FLUID FILM...they are rust inhibitors that work great at protecting the frames.....do it every year.

  • @WildOutdoorLiving

    As mentioned the 05-07 had a bit of a mid gen refresh. 5 speed auto (vs 4) , a bit more horsepower, different grill, tail lights etc. Most importantly the ball joints were redesigned to keep you from dying and the 4x4 system was revamped. You can’t actually lock the center diff on some of the early years. 05-07 you can lock the center diff in high and low plus you still have the all time 4x4 mode available, great for slick roads in the winter.

    Sequoia’s are definitely under rated. I ended up getting a 2001 Land Cruiser with the 4.7L engine. These engines are made out of cast iron vs aluminum. My LC has the 2.5” OME lift kit (front & rear shocks, rear springs, torsion bars, diff drop, rear shock cards), 3 SLEE OFF-ROAD skid plates, White Knuckle rock sliders, and a couple other mods. These rigs will last as long you don’t skimp on OEM maintenance.

My 83 Supra did the same, Peel off as much as you can, then take some sand paper and lightly sand the chrome, Prime it with EPOXY primer and Paint it with some Epoxy Paint to prevent rust... it will look good from a few feet away and good enough up close. I have a good condition 4th gen Runner (White) with 2” lift kit and nice wheel/tire set of FJ Cruiser. 185K miles, runs like a champ and love it but it’s time for a new one. I hope to sell it to another Runner lover.

    that's not the belt bro, is the tensioner. i had to get the whole assembly from the dealer bc the pulley from my local discount parts stores did not fit properly.

      @Blake_Cherubini  3 года назад

      Hmmm, how come it stopped for a while though when I replaced the belt? Chase also had the same noise, replaced the belt, and has been nice and quiet since🤔 I have no clue😂

      @@Blake_Cherubini really!? I replaced mine with a dayco then 3months later noise came back. Thought the belt was cheap and got a Toyota one with more parts, now that is cold it made noise again and I found out it was the bearing bc it wobbles. I will replace the tensioner assembly this weekend. Hoping that’s the end of it.

    • @smkinrade

      Either the tensioner or one of the idlers pulleys. They're very easy to replace, usually just a bolt or two.

    A scotch brite pad and SEM Trim Black will make that window molding like new. Or a little tape and Plasti Dip

    Own both 1st and 2nd gen sequoia and they are the most reliable vehicles ever. i cannot turn either into an overland as neither use Atrac or have a locker. I also own a 2010 FJ Cruiser with Atrac and Locker. That thing truly goes ANYWHERE. I would love to turn one of the sequoias but i am looking at selling one just to buy a LandCruiser which does have Atrac. i have had the Sequoia flexed and the 2 wheels without traction just spin and the tank goes nowhere. amazing vehicle and tons of room for camping but if you go anywhere with flex be careful if you do not have a winch. Getting a 6500LBs Sequoia stuck is no joke.
