Phil Kessel to Columbus, make it happen hockey gods.
I'll second that
With 24 million dollars cap space left?...Nah lol. A trade is more likely.
@@Darule514 yeah no way Kessel is signing for less than 25m
@@salamander8567 lol
Re-unite with his former Leafs teammate JVR XD
Terrible news about Cowan. The NHL needs to figure this out. 1st round picks shouldn't be forced into Junior for two seasons after they are drafted.
Cowan is too good for juniors but likely isn't ready for a top 9 spot on the Leafs. AHL is perfect for him. Very frustrating for the leafs tbh. If he wins a job great... If not... He's playing in a league he's already surpassed.
What could work for situations like this... What if there was an agreement for final year CHL eligible players like Cowan... To play in the AHL until December... Then go play in the world juniors... And then the NHL club has to make the junior or NHL decision for the rest of the year in January after the worlds.
Then they got some AHL experience, the WJ, and will be ready at that point for NHL or at least heading back to CHL when the games matter the most leading into the playoffs.
@@jayvardythat’s honestly a solid solution. Imo tho people often underestimate how good the AHL is. If they’re not physically ready they’re gonna get destroyed by some of the big strong vets. But with you’re idea it kinda solves that issue too. If they’re not physically ready they only have to stick around until December
"Forced" 😂
@@yoholmes273what else would you call it? I don't see a single legitimate reason why the CHL should hold priority rights to first round picks for a second season after they've been drafted.
@@jayvardygreat idea
quentin musty gonna score one quentillion goals this season yall watch it
musty is so much better than people give him credit for. easily a rookie of the year candidate next year
agreed 100 percent
Bunch of re-drafts put him in the top 10 🎉
SJ undefeated. 16 straight wins this playoffs, guaranteed.
THEN 66 straight loses
You're crazy. I was born in the year 2140 and came back here in a time machine and they don't win the cup until the 2025-26 season, and that one takes 17 playoff games, not 16 (they lose one game in the second round against the Preds...Preds were a wildcard hence playing against the Sharks in the second round).
Will Smith and Macklin Celebrini are gonna win 6 cups in a row. They'll make bums like Wayne Gretzky vanish from the history books
@@deecee2174 Sharks charter season ticketholder -- with more pairs of teal-colored glasses than you probably have years on this planet -- but, no. It'll take a few years, but they'll have a good shot at back-to-backs, perhaps with a third at some point. However, with 32 teams, the salary cap, and team parity the way it is, I don't expect to see a three-peat the rest of my life (I'm 64), much less 4 or more..
@@davecomstock9544 Vro I was trolling lol the Sharks aren't gonna win for a long time. They had their chances and just like the Cowboys they will fade into obscurity
What I got out of this is that the sharks are winning the Stanley cup
in 2030
It's so dumb that a player who is borderline NHL level can't play in the AHL.
I watch the SKA game today. What a player we have! I'm so exited about Demidov! Even without the puck, he's working hard and he's able to correct his own mistakes, for the few he's doing, and the he had so many chances. Always well placed on the ice and he's amazing to create some for his teammates on the ice. Pretty sure is ice time and points total are gonna go up pretty quickly..
Arseni Gritsyuk
Surprised JVR didn't get more. I thought Columbus needed a little more to get to the floor?
Going to assume Columbus have been given an exception at this point seeing as it was force majeure why they're under the floor
Also there is no reality where JvR at his age is worth 7 digits
You must not have watched JVR play for the Bruins last year.
Love the signing from Columbus, curious who we sign next. Kessel would be nice but I'm not gonna hold my breath.
Good luck Kuzy! Hope you do well in the KHL!
Coming from an Ottawa fan, Dylan Furgeson can be a good player, I really hope he does well if gets into some games with Vancouver.
Thank you
On the one hand, people are always complaining that prospect development is being rushed by impatient NHL teams. On the other hand, there will always be a few CHL prospects who are in the no man's land of too good for the CHL but maybe not quite ready for the NHL.
I'm really excited for Cowan. The Leafs could really use him if he's ready, especially given the awful cap situation still. I wouldn't want to rush him, but if the Leafs try him for 9 games and he gets 4 or 5 points, I would keep him in. Knies has been well supported by fans and the media, and I don't think the pressure will be on Cowan specifically either. 90-percent of the pressure from the outside is squarely focused on Tavares and Marner to be honest, rightly or wrongly that's just what it is.
Those white jerseys are a work of art
I do find it a bit interesting that you talked about Musty, then the next thing you talked about was Cowan and how he's impacted by the CHL NHL Transfer Agreement. A lot of people have bemoaned the fact that Musty can't play in the AHL this year as well.
Always liked JVR. I hope he has a decent year.
Canucks undefeated in Penticton so far
Honeslty Any junior player above 18 should be allow to play in nhl and ahl
Being drafted doesn't mean you are going to be playing professional hockey for you career
They are allowed to play in NHL.
Cowan will go back to junior. Don't think the Leafs will force feed him into the full season lineup
quentin tarantino mustle man musty will score one mustillion goals in san jose
What?
@@yoholmes273you heard the musty.
Sharks will be The Canucks of 2024... unexpected PLAYOFFS and great season with the likes of ROOKIE OF THE YEAR Quentin Musty !!! (Oh, and those other candidates, Smith, Askarov, Mukhamadullin, and Cellebrini...) GO TEAL !! (Hope Couture can get healthy to lead the kids!)
There's an agreement that the NHL can't send a junior eligible player to the AHL, but is there anything to keep the player from signing with a European team and playing over there for a year, in order to get a higher, more professional level of competition? Say sign with a Swedish or Finnish team. I would think this would be a good option for some players as preferable to another year in Juniors.
Toronto would be stupid to not get COWan in their roster. hell of a player
Any success against the ducks should have an asterisk next to it, we're still terrible and headed for bottom 3 again.
may as well start a rumor as everyone else is already
Shannon can you please explain why Cowen is not AHL eligible ? I thought if a player is property of an organization they can sign a 2 way or just an AHL/NHL contract !!
👍🏾👍🏾
Why not the ECHL for a year?
ECHL is also blocked by the NHL-CHL transfer agreement.
@@jonmendelson1104 I meant, why not change the rules so they can go there if there's a concern about the AHL.
@@Fatazz The CHL will obviously lose the top talent when they move to the NHL, but they don't want to lose the second tier of talent when they move to the AHL or ECHL. If they lost that too there would be fewer fans who would attend CHL games, plus it wouldn't be as good of a league for developing young players without those better players to compete against.
Why isn't Cowen allowed in the AHL?
For an NHL draft prospect to leave the QMJHL, WHL or OHL to play minor-league hockey, he must be 20 years old (by Dec. 31 of that season) or have played four seasons in the juniors. The agreement is for players drafted out of the CHL only, so players drafted out of Europe, the USHL and NCAA do not apply.
Nice one timer by Cutter too.
Cowboy is a gem, I watch him here in London, he's is a great asset to the Knights. If he makes the team, he will need to grow but he will learn quick and keep growing.
Gleb Trikozov got a hattrick. Carolina 2-0 and smashed your precious Florida Panthers rookies. 6 goals in the third.
Hes no Johnny
Columbus can get to the cap floor by trading for and signing Swayman for $10 mil per . Boston gets Fantilli and 2 - 1st rounders
Be serious. Columbus is not trading Fantilli.
Oilers should ( in the summer ) look into moving Darnell to Columbus. They have a shit ton of space and would probably take him because of his gamesmanship and leadership qualities.
They’re gonna have to at least throw a 1st. Nurse isn’t worth half that AAV.
@@speedybure oh I totally agree. Nurse isn’t worth shit. I’m just praying at this point that because the jackets will have so much cap space that they might entertain the idea.
Laffs 😅 losers
