From the other videos I’ve seen the seawalls have been built by taking chunks of coral and stone from the water in front of the beach areas that the homes are built on, removing these stones and pieces of coral actually increases the ability for water to drag sand back out to sea, it is like adding rebar to concrete you need those heavy rocks and stones to give something for the sand to grip to.

What is needed is a benevolent arrangement of technologically capable states that could strengthen the coastline and raise it above the harmful effects of tides and rising sea levels. The country that traditionally knows this is the Netherlands. The country that creates artificial islands is China. With the wholehearted help of the world community, think in that direction. May the almighty God help you all and Kiribati !❤❤❤

id watch the Tarawa battle videos many can be found out there, thats during WWII, in the 1940s, which somewhat 80 years ago,
    same land level,
interestingly the land area of the whole Kiribas today are larger by 5% of they were 30 years ago.
some area of "swampy" sandy lagoon maybe got their sand receded going somewhere else pushed by water & wind force and caused flood during hightide which i think its only one place that in focus whereas all other part are not,
and that i think the reason why they do not want to move away from their beautiful homeland they love so much.

Over populations. But just remember you have your pacific brothers and sisters of new zealand and australia and hawaii to america. Singapore or asia apart from taiwan aint gonna take any island cultures their. They got their own muslim, hindu, mandarins, asian culture. Taiwan is the only neighbourhood pacific people similar to us and asia. Taiwan people are the only people from asia area to help out. Taiwan is the original key to the pacific and holds the key to pacific culture.
But new zealand is the home of pacific /polynesia and melanesia and australia is home to melanesia and micronesians. Similarities in culture. They do try to help. But chinas $$$ and taking over to exploit your area for fish of all kinds and abalone and sea weeds, mining in the sea and pearls..

Kiribati must sacrifice half its big Island to Survive. You have to hire people from Gold Rush to move dirt and build it up to 20 meters high and build a Wall. Cost will be in the Billions or just sell it to China and China will do exactly what I have just said. From a Aitutaki Cook Islander. If you sell it for Billions of Dollars buy a Property in Australia for the People

Would you go there to vacation? I would not. It's an island of complete poverty and food insecurity. If I travel to places in my country where there is food scarcity (in remote locations), I am required to bring my own food. How are they going to feed the tourists, or are they bringing their own food? They should abandon ship, move to the abundant, beautiful land that they purchased and start fresh. It's ludicrous that they think tourism can save them. While Canada is a large emitter, most of the oil field extraction is done by CCP companies because our government have been selling us out. We are damming rivers and flooding some of the most fertile land in the country... big enough to grow food for two provinces, at least. We have geothermal available to us, but the Feds would rather sell the rights to natural gas than develop solar, wind, or geothermal power. I think most citizens are unhappy with what their government's do, though, tbh.
