- Just follow these easy steps. Check the display screen for enforcement hours and any other special messages. The Smart Parking Meters accept Coins or Credit and Debit cards. To use coins, insert the correct amount for the time required.
For credit or debit cards, insert the card, then quickly remove it. Use the blue buttons to add more time or less. Then Click the green OK button.
As a courtesy, The City offers the first five minutes for free, which is great for short errands. Just hit the green OK button.

Hey this was 7 years ago and maybe 6 years ago at the time of your comment. His debit card has probably long expired.
I work with these IPS M5 meters. My question is, can the GPS feature be used to track down the meter’s location? From what I can gather… It should be able to, but it doesn’t. My work van was stolen today and I had some M5 style meters inside (as well as all my personal belongings, like my purse, credit cards, even my freaking SS card🤦🏻♀️😭🤦🏻♀️). When I called it in to the police, a citizen had also called in a report of a city van driving the wrong way down a one-way street and erratically. However, the police said they needed the Vin number from the van and/or the license plate number before they could make a call out on the radio for all officers to look for the van. UUUGGGHHH!!! It’s a CITY ISSUED VEHICLE and has distinct numbers decaled to it and the police KNOW what our city emblem looks like, considering we’re the ones that slap those decals on their car AND Have made I don’t know how many signs (street name signs, no parking, etc. etc.) for them and for THEE actual officer that took down the report. They have a pictures of the van driving the wrong way down a one-way street and yet they still could not make the call out onto the radio and so they had the license plate number that we had to call Fleet Management Dept to get because who fucking knows the fucking license plate number of vehicle that isn’t their own? 🙄
28 minutes later, the call goes out …. What a shit show! My point in this comment is how can there NOT be a way to access the location of a meter that has GPS enabled, connects to IPS via a wireless modem (4G)? Locate the meters and we locate the van (not to mention the hundreds of meters that have been vandalized, broken into and stolen since 2018)!!!
It just seems like there’s has to be a way to accomplish this….

Dear God, please let the REAL Big Brains who developed the software that allowed these meters to be created in the first place SEE THIS COMMENT!! Nothing but GOOD could come from it!!

Only thing I will say is NEVER call Ireland 🇮🇪 the UK 🇬🇧 or say it’s part of it to an Irishman, he will get very annoyed. Republic of Ireland is a separate country, Scotland and wales and Northern Ireland are part of the Uk but not part of England. I’d quite like to go to Ireland as well. I come from and live in the county of Kent in the southeast of England.

We don't have the concept of parking meters in my country. Out of curiosity. How do you decide the time? Like what if you come back before the time expires. For example you set it for say 40 minutes but come back in 30 minutes. How do you get the difference back? And what if you exceed the time?
You guess how much time you need. If you use the app you can extend the time remotely, after making more payments of course with Apple Pay/Google Pay. Meters won’t ever give you the difference.
If you exceed the time you get a ticket. A lot of meters will have hard limits like 2 hours. It’s illegal to even feed it more money to stay, you literally are required to leave. They do this to promote turnover.
