    Back in '04 & '05, there were these two 11 foot gators, looked like twins, that hung out in the cove of the S.E. spillway of Farm 13 at the Stick Marsh. They would harass me every time I fished wild shiners under floats. NO FEAR of humans or boats at all. They would swim right up as you were boating a bass too, trying to eat your bass. Glad I used a net. But still, those 2 gators were damned dangerous and BIG. FWC officers said their hands were tied, because "it wasn't a residential area". I got sick & tired of it, so I bought a CO2 powered pellet pistol. It was incredibly accurate & powerful anywhere near a full charge of CO2. When either one of those big gators ( it was only the same two ) would go after my shiner float rig, I would pop him right in the nose. WORKED LIKE A CHARM. Those gators did NOT like being popped in the snout like that & they would leave me alone the rest of the day. But they would try me AGAIN with each new trip out. And the pellet in the snout continued to work wonders. I believe those 2 gators were later harvested when they started issuing seasonal gator hunting tags for the Stick Marsh, because I haven't been harassed by them again. Those 2 certainly would've been the easiest to hunt down, for obvious reasons. I believe tourist anglers were feeding them dead shiners, and that's what created the problem. I'm not kidding either, those 2 huge gators would eat your ass if ya fell in........or put your arm in the water as they would come after your hooked bass thrashing by the boat. First they would try to eat your shiner.......then come after your hooked bass. Never seen such a dangerous gator as that pair of dragons......lol.

      Yeah when I was younger I used a BB gun, it did NOTHING to them & even pissed one off to the point I swore he was coming in my Jon boat. I was around 19? Scared the hell out of me, I stopped fishing for about 4 months.. my uncle came back later to find one of the Gators I'd hit with a BB & shot him. He said he came up on the back of his boat after his fish hanging on a pole. Thank God cause I couldn't imagine a kid getting killed by him. Never got to find out what happened to the female (pretty sure it was a female)

    • @howabouthetruth2157
      @howabouthetruth2157 6 лет назад +1

      Exactly what MODEL of "bb gun" are you talking about. Because there's A HUGE DIFFERENCE between simple "bb guns" and pump action and/or CO2 pellet guns and pellet/bb guns. A PUMP bb gun/pellet rifle is 100 times more powerful than a standard old-style bb gun that simply "cocks" one time for each shot. The CO2 cartridge powered pellet/bb guns are also very powerful on a full charge. Most better "bb guns" are capable of shooting bb's OR pellets. Those old style bb guns are for kids, and they are worthless. They aren't even that accurate. Because I'm telling you right now, the bb/pellet pistol THAT I HAD, can hurt a person REALLY bad with incredible power on a full CO2 charge, it was deadly accurate, and those BIG gators DID NOT LIKE being shot right in the snout. I could put a gator's eye right out if I wanted too. Also, I don't how good of a marksman you were either. But it sounds to me like you had a simple, weak bb gun, and those things wouldn't do anything but piss off anyone or anything even IF you are able to hit them with it..........About the only real "damage" they can do, is put out the eye of a human, because our eyes are very delicate. MY CO2 powered bb/pellet pistol can kill a man if shot in the base of the skull from behind. There are air-powered rifles made today that shoot pellets and are SO powerful, they can kill a person and BIG GAME. As a matter of fact, it is a growing trend among sportsmen, because the weapon is much quieter than a conventional firearm. Lady, I'm 56 years old, and I've been a fisherman and a hunter for all of my life since a kid. We even hunted gators back in the day here. You obviously had a worthless, simple, little kiddy bb gun.

    • @howabouthetruth2157
      @howabouthetruth2157 6 лет назад

      See my other response first......and PS........you shoot even a big gator right in the snout with the RIGHT bb/pellet gun.......he ain't gonna like that at all, and LEAVE. I know, because BOTH of those big gators would leave immediately from only 1 accurate shot, right in the snout.

I love the Everglades, and my best trip was to Chokoloskee Island with my mom before she passed. Houston Brown took us out and I love catching Snook and even got a small Tarpon. We caught hundreds of fish that day, even some small sharks. It's been a while but they had a restaurant that would cook the fish you caught and it was excellent. We also saw a few salt water Crocodile which I was told had started showing up more often in that area. This brought back some great memories. Thanks.

    Great vid as always. Back at your old stomping grounds eh? Love your old glades vids, pretty cool to see ya back down there. You, Capt. Shane, and Mikeyballz really helped open my eyes to these Florida bass and the fishing style when I first moved down here.

    Bro. I have a golden tegu, SHE scares me when she goes to attack. Lmao and she’s in my house, I feed her, she is aware of me. No ones feeding those Everglades gators. Just the ones in the lakes nearby social areas. The gator doesn’t give a shit about you, not because he’s fed. Because you’re taking his food in his territory. Lol I love this video. Reptiles are something else. I hope you know though, catching & releasing isn’t saving the fish. They have a very high chance of dying.

    i was out on a 13' boston whaler in holiday park many years ago and right next to me was a very very big gater much bigger them my boat ha ha ha scared the crap out of me

    Kind of looks like Arthur Marshall. There were 2 separate incidents where gators attacked kayaks people were in you can search for the 911 call for one. I work on an airboat and they’re scared of it as long as the engines running but will approach if off

    I have a dang gator in my pond. cant catch it. i usually feed my turtles dog food, so it started eating the dog food. now it sees me and comes to me for more dog food. today tho..... it came to me on land wanting something hissing at me. and it belches and like roars out of the water. i guess to call other gators. i am in texas and all the flooding we have had and continue to get, the gators are on the move and found my property. i am so scared to go outside. my husband works a lot and doesnt have time to catch it. the game warden said they cant do anything about it with the abundance of gator calls they receive that are more serious than mine. so... idk what to do.

    Idk what you filmed this with but everything about this video is just beautiful. Really amazing to see, and living in Florida that’s my fav thing ever to see our Gators out in their natural habitat. Can’t say I’ve been to the Everglades but went kayaking at Blue Springs the other day and saw atleast 20 gators. Love this vid, deff gonna start watching more

    Gators typically begin courtships around April, and mating gets underway around May and June. During mating season they are more aggressive ,you also have the american crocodile in the Everglades , and three Nile crocodiles were captured in 2009, 2011 and 2014 in south Florida,,,fish & game said ,, how the Nile crocodiles got into Florida is a mystery,yet they believe they were only ones out there .

    I don't reside in South FL now but, I grew up there, 23 years of my life. I used to fish all the time in the glades west of Sawgrass Expwy & down Alligator Alley a piece. I can't complain about the frequency of catches but, when you say you guarantee you will catch AT LEAST 100 + fish a day - every day, It starts sounding more & more like a fish story! 🤣🐊🎣👈🤠🐟🐊-lol-🐠🎣😎👍
