I love traditional English mixed with some French. I love my home to feel cozy, collected, curated and a reflection of me and my interests. I’ve dipped my toes into trends through the years, but classics never go out of style.
I agree with these 100%. And it does boil down to personal style. I'll add to the mix..."Live Laugh Love" decor pieces and anything else along those lines and frames that say "Family", etc. Again like you say it's personal and I appreciate and respect others that enjoy these pieces.
The trends you mentioned are basically old news at this point which is great. Glad to see them all go. I find if you stick to a traditional core with modern accessories adding your own personal style.... You can't go wrong. 😊
Agree 3000%. When we sold we had to take down the designer wallpaper the kitchen was designed around. My friends were horrified because they loved it, a modern take on 1940s. The trends are really about the fact that people don’t understand design. Everything is an IKEA room, no expression of real style. I looooovvve all your videos. You have a niche and contribute a ton to social media. Love the Jane Austen influence to your decorating. I want to move to the south just for the elegant gracious understanding of design and hospitality. ❤ all your videos are the best whether blog, thrift or design. You show people what real life style can be.
Dust is just an old room version of glitter (lol). I’m tired of the grey as well- it was nice at first but … I’m ready to move on as well. I think the tiled furniture is fun in a Y2K way - could be cool in a sun room since it’s plant friendly, saw someone do a version of it by smashing old patterned dishes and using that as the tile, it was cool and a good way to save dishes that have a chip or crack.
I work in fashion trends. The industry (and the actual definition of the word trend) is a general direction in which something is changing or moving. Speaking fashion, the industry does not define it as, say, a shacket. The shacket was the hot ticket item that was born of the trends of nostalgia, the need for clothing with both form and function, and a growing call for sustainability from consumers in the industry.
I have a concrete countertop in my flipped home they and are disqusting. They are like cutting up vegetables on a jailhouse floor. Can’t wait to get rid of them.
That’s what is wrong with the world today. They’re to soft, and too worried about offending someone. It’s caused more division than the things everyone says is offensive. All you have to say is, these are the things that don’t work for me. I’m 56, I didn’t come from a generation that tip toed. We just lived, and said. Funny….no one was offended. We just laughed at life. This new way of thinking is exhausting, and emotionally draining. I hate gray too. I’m not worried about offending anyone. It’s just a color, not life or death. You have a right to have your opinions. You’re not the only one I’ve seen apologize profusely before starting a video. Don’t apologize. Be you. That’s ok.
There’s a paint commercial on TV that says color is coming back for walls. I had white walls everywhere in my home, but I thought they looked too sterile. I will keep my light gray walls. I think it gives a much warmer feeling than white. JMO
I guess that is why I like your channel. I agree with you! I really dislike the depressing gray walls and floors and can't wait for a new colour to take over. I do like signs in the home and think they look cheery in general and let you know what is important to the homeowner. Maybe you can balance this video with Home Decor Trends that you Love :)
I moved into a very modern house that has a lot of gray 2 years ago. Not a big fan of gray. I'm thinking of going all white. One of my favorites is also very light / pale yellow. It really makes a room glow.
I’m always curious about trends, so yes more videos like this would be great. Also would you do a video on your coffee shop? And do you plans to change the things you listed you didn’t like in the coffee shop?
That’s exactly my problem with white Every place I have lived so far all the walls have been white I hate white walls But I do agree about grey wood Just doesn’t look right
Although the grey vinyl planks are being sold in my country, as a designer, l don't think the entire Grey interior rooms were marketed as an interior trend here. 😀 It sounds a very late 80's early 90's trend.
About gray not making things pop, in the photos you used, everything was white, black, or brown with a hint of leaf green, which are all neutrals themselves. For gray to make things pop, you need to use actual colors like red, yellow, blue, pink, etc. Otherwise I completely agree with you.
Trends I dislike: Everyone who becomes a lemming. As soon as someone who has many subscribers, posts his/her style; everyone has to copy it, to get more views. The “buzz words” take over. Content creators need subscribers to make money on RUclips, so they start copying the popular channels. I enjoy watching channels that are true to the creator’s personality. That way, a viewer can choose which style matches his/her style. Instead, we see creators copying what seems to be the new trend. It’s very frustrating to viewers who have an opinion of their own. If you know what you like, nobody should dictate to you what’s trending. I like the saying: To thine own self, be true. Think for yourself; rather than becoming a lemming. Also, I am so tired of hearing people on RUclips who constantly use the word “Like”. The ideas are interesting; but, it’s irritating to hear.

Yes! Me too! 🥰

Love this video and my grey walls...ha,ha
I have to agree with you. I’m not into trends, I have my own eclectic style. I love old furniture and mixing with new

I didn’t even know that tile furniture was a thing 😅 a trend I’m glad I missed, though.

True!!
I agree do not like gray walls.
What I dislike the most is black TVs. Next would the Cricut font that I can't read ;-) Also, when did curtains go out of style ???

Grey is depressing.......
Tile furniture looks awful
Grey is depressing! Yuk
I love the boucle look, but I would not buy it, because I am sure it gets old quickly. I think it’s going to go out too.☺️🤍
