i genuinely believe that things become un-trendy when people redo their whole houses in one specific style, i think the fun thing about designing your home is that you can pick things up as you go, not buying everything at once because the new boho-chic trend is in. mixing and matching styles and things you like will 100% look better than buying everything within a sole aesthetic

Not timeless, it will be so dated in a few years. If you like it then go for it but it's such a specific look it will go out of style. It's only timeless if you will love it forever but try and sell your house with it in a few years and it'll be someone else's hang up or a drawback.
*Thank you for roasting Terrazzo and Pampas grass* . My heart hurts when I see a vintage or Mid-Century piece get a geometric makeover...uuggghhh. I feel I deserve style points for being 54 and never picking up a Rae Dunn anything.
Yeah, I’m 61, remember seeing ancient terrazzo when I lived in Italy so I really like the authentic thing. I like pampas grass in a landscape but it’s like a big hairbrush inside. I had never heard of or seen anything Rae Dunn before except on YT. No, I don’t live in a cave but somehow missed this.
I do feel bad when I see beautiful MCM furniture that has been painted in such a faddy way. If you want to paint furniture, fine--please paint pieces that are on their last leg, are ugly, are broken, have pieces of veneer stripped off, and so on. I have a piece of furniture I painted. I bought it for $20 at the Goodwill. It is (was) a gun cabinet--now it's a glass-fronted book cabinet.
I spent weeks repainting two MCM pieces. But they had both been badly painted first. Of one them had the veneer ruined underneath the paint once I got it off. It did take me ages though…hope they aren’t going to go out of fashion in a minute. 🤦♀️
I hate rae dunn SOOO MUCH. I used to work at tj maxx and for some reason they are so coveted. There was a woman who came every single morning to buy and resell all of the Rae Dunn. She would come into the back room to see what we were unboxing. She eventually got kicked out because she punched a woman because she got the last cookie jar…
ummm literally déjà vu months back i saw in a FB group about someone who worked at tjmax that had this exact experience. lol why are so many lady’s punching for a damn cookie jar?!!
you should watch SwellEntertainment’s video about rae dunn, she does a deep dive into the phenomenon. it’s so sad how people are spending so much money on mass produced junk and acting like it’s going to keep any value
Well if you are talking about old buildings, they were there before it became a recycled trend in the 2000's. It is used because of its durability and classic style.

I don’t want ANY pampas grass at my wedding.” It can look pleasant in small amounts but around the time I was planning my wedding I saw a few arches and floral installations that looked like just giant feathers but it was pampas grass.
Spot on, as always! Tbh I really value your opinion and before I buy anything for my home, I ask myself if I could see Paige buying it and how you would style it ahahah
Thoughts on painting IKEA furniture? Or adding knobs to it. And what are your thoughts on red brick fireplaces? I’ve been trying to find inspiration but all the ones I see are painted white.
I've had terrazzo floors since the early 90s and not changing it. It is simple and a lot better than floor tiles! But I get your point about buying everything terrazzo.
paige i think it would be super cool if you suggested ways to upcycle pieces in a way that keeps the original feel of the pieces with just a refreshed feel! love your videos and your vibes!!
I like the cloud lamp things as an idea for a kids room, but I could never do it. 1 because of the daytime look, but 2 because that stuff would attract so much dust
I have old farmhouse, with barn doors which fits, and even you would think those are nice :P we wanted to keep as much as possible original elements of the house so doors in two of the rooms were perfectly fitting (we have removed about 5 other doors from this house ...). Sliding doors in Finland are or super expensive or just ugly. Our two barn doors are really vintage and beautifull (I am not mentioning usability of them).

Also LOL @ Chloe’s face whenever she’s subjected to your aggressive affections!! More shots of Chloe please 😃
I live for your commentary and humor, 10/10
THANK YOU!!
i genuinely believe that things become un-trendy when people redo their whole houses in one specific style, i think the fun thing about designing your home is that you can pick things up as you go, not buying everything at once because the new boho-chic trend is in. mixing and matching styles and things you like will 100% look better than buying everything within a sole aesthetic
Loved the video! I'd really be happy if you made something on what to decorate your walls with when you're on a budget, like dont do the fake vines but instead do this. Or maybe what makes a gallery wall a good gallery wall if they even are good
I love ur vids because other youtubers and people online are just way too nice, I love how you’re just straight to the point “I really hate this” keep hating !!!! LOL
Lol.. listen...my pampas grass is STAYING. I love the furry, shedding bastard. The rest...eh..it can go.
Apparently, if you spray it with hair spray it helps. Saw it on another vid.
Achoo 🤧🤣🤪
@@polgara28 Hair spray? Hmm..worth a try
I thought I was gonna make it out alive, but I was gifted a Rae Dunn zodiac mug for Christmas 😂😂
Rip to all the beautiful wood furniture getting ruined. Thank YOU for mentioning this
Gonnnnna have to disagree with you on the Terrazzo. Terrazzo is timeless when done correctly.
All terrazzo reminds me of is school floors and those free standing hand washing fountain sinks in the washrooms.
first time i’ve ever strongly disagreed with one of paige’s opinions!! except the terrazzo with the HUGE glass pieces. that is a bit much
Not timeless, it will be so dated in a few years. If you like it then go for it but it's such a specific look it will go out of style. It's only timeless if you will love it forever but try and sell your house with it in a few years and it'll be someone else's hang up or a drawback.
But only when done correctly.
Terrazzo refrigerator? No.
Exactly paint only what is a very common, run of the mill piece, but not a high quality, high design piece!
🤣🤣🤣🤣 I hollered😂
ummm literally déjà vu months back i saw in a FB group about someone who worked at tjmax that had this exact experience. lol why are so many lady’s punching for a damn cookie jar?!!
Yeah, I actually have no respect for people who hoard store-bought Rae Dunn. Literally the most beige taste ever...
you should watch SwellEntertainment’s video about rae dunn, she does a deep dive into the phenomenon. it’s so sad how people are spending so much money on mass produced junk and acting like it’s going to keep any value
@@JeddieMPB will do thanks! i love vids like these :) and also watch her just somehow missed that one
4:00 that thing is ALL OVER SPAIN, EVERY BUILDING HAS THAT, every highschool, library, flat... I am from spain and really it is everywhere .
Well if you are talking about old buildings, they were there before it became a recycled trend in the 2000's. It is used because of its durability and classic style.
I have a framed monstera but it's an original watercolor from an artist I like, so it's staying.
Love it! 🤣🤣🤣 only guilty of one palm print shower curtain which I will swap out when I get bored of it - prob replace it with my Xmas themed one which I’m sure you’d hate too! 🤣🤣🤣
I have a palm print shower curtain and I kinda still love it but now when I look at it I will forever feel shame 😄 at least it's an easy upgrade?
Agree on the weird chunky bright color of terrazzo but girl, good terrazzo flooring is timeless. It's like a true MCM staple.
This roast was everything! The pampas grass rant was spot on. Anxiously waiting for part 2...thank you for your refreshingly honest critique. I would love to see another day in the life of a prop stylist.
The first thing i told my florist for my wedding was “I HATE pampas grass.
:)
Thoughts on painting IKEA furniture? Or adding knobs to it.
And what are your thoughts on red brick fireplaces? I’ve been trying to find inspiration but all the ones I see are painted white.
The only redeeming value of arches and circles is that it's so much less permanent than most trends and you can always paint over.
The word "Art" is used here very loosely LOL.
I've had terrazzo floors since the early 90s and not changing it. It is simple and a lot better than floor tiles! But I get your point about buying everything terrazzo.
Everything but terrazzo. I think it is so classy :)
paige i think it would be super cool if you suggested ways to upcycle pieces in a way that keeps the original feel of the pieces with just a refreshed feel! love your videos and your vibes!!
I agree. A lot of beautiful mid-century furniture has been ruined.
This was fantastic, one of my favorites so far! I will probably look back on finding Anneke as the highlight of my year.
I like the cloud lamp things as an idea for a kids room, but I could never do it. 1 because of the daytime look, but 2 because that stuff would attract so much dust
Can’t tell you how excited the “P1” made me! Love your taste and humor
Terrazzo tile in my 1962 home is absolutely beautiful, timeless.
The new terrazzo doesn’t hold a candle to it!
Cloud ceilings - all that comes to my mind, is dust and spiderwebs, yes, and dead insects. My nose itches just thinking of it.
this is early for me and I’m so excited. who doesn’t love a good roast and you always deliver.
Got the palm print bedding. It’s the bedding that makes me the happiest. Whereas the grey marble one and the grey fox print one doesn’t so 🤷🏻♀️
I have old farmhouse, with barn doors which fits, and even you would think those are nice :P we wanted to keep as much as possible original elements of the house so doors in two of the rooms were perfectly fitting (we have removed about 5 other doors from this house ...). Sliding doors in Finland are or super expensive or just ugly. Our two barn doors are really vintage and beautifull (I am not mentioning usability of them).
SPOT ON!!!!! Loved the First Annual Decor Roast!
Yes OF COURSE more more more please and as intense as you could possibly get. If this was an hour long would not get bored. Need more like you. You really help me realise that it's ok to go with my gut and understand that I really do not like something rather than get pulled by a trend. My home is a more authentic place because of it. Thank you and please keep going xxx
I’m from Italy so terrazzo is like what my grandma has 😂 so I kinda love it cuz it reminds me of home. The Rae Dunn is crazy lol I LOVE the mugs just of how they feel in my hand lol
I love this kind of material. I agree with you. I am grateful for your research so I dont make those interior design mistakes
Love these types of videos. Helped me get rid of stuff I didn’t like anyway. Got some things because they were “trendy”, but they were just tacky.
Terrazzo is EVERYWHERE in older homes in FL. I'm not a fan. I constantly feel like the floor (or counter) is dirty with all the specks everywhere. But my sister LOVES it. She has said that when she looks for her new house she's going to look for one that has original terrazzo floors throughout.
Also, I own Rae Dunn. NOT because it is Rae Dunn, but because the salt and pepper bowls were perfect for the spot I have them in. LOL. I do love that tiktoker that makes the fake Rae Dunn. She's amazing.
Omg the geometric painting on classic WOOD furniture 😭😭😭 breaks my heart to see it. Also this is honey designed my desk when I was 9years old in 1997 😝
I would love some general tips on how to get started decorating a apartment, for example the first apartment. How would you start, where to invest in and what is totally unnecessary in your opinion❤️
I love love love your videos, you’re literally the only reason I open youtube
Haven’t finished the vid yet but wanted to say that every time I see the palm prints/wallpaper, all I can think about is Blanche Devereaux.
Yes. Definitely do another one of these!
I like the painted arch's and lines 😅 I am going to do it in my bathroom
Right!? I’m thinking I’m the only one who thought it was cute!
I absolutely love this woman! 100% with you
I love these videos so much! I don't even get offended, I get so excited and laugh so hard when I own something you hate, it's like a funny game hahaha
Ok, but like, just to be clear, pampas grass as a plant in your yard: AMAZING. I tend to kill everything green. Except pampas grass. I love that shit.
I love this but also watched with a lot of tension in my shoulders. 🙃
