    These early episodes show how much Bob Barker was a stereoypical game show host. Once the years went by, and he started to relax, the show entered it's "Golden Age", and was really fun to watch. I know the early episodes dragged due to it not being on the air for very long, and games needed to be explained more thoroughlly.

      It's fun watching Bob in his early days. Even though he already had 15 years of experience on TV before Price.

    I also noticed that there was an edit at 1:44 - sounds like a pair of all-overbids in Contestants' Row during the first item up for bids were edited out of the broadcast, hence Johnny Olson mentioning at the end of the credits that portions of this program not affecting the game have been edited.

    • @Austin7298
      @Austin7298 10 месяцев назад

      Yep, there were two overbids edited out, according to the official records. The lowest bid the first time was $700 and the second time $250.

      They can air 1972-1982 episodes (first ten seasons) but they have to be clips that don’t showcase any fur coats since they were given out during that time before Barker promoted his animal rights in honor of his wife Dorothy Jo

    • @silentbob3208
      @silentbob3208 10 месяцев назад +1

      Which is the right thing but that does mean the very first episode cannot be shown, which is very unfortunate. I'd argue they should at least be allowed to show episode one with a warning beforehand.

    • @TheKevTravel

      @@silentbob3208 the first items up for bid on the very first show I know was indeed the fur coat so this channel will never air it. But other YT channels have that clip. The other two IUFB after that I think they can show just as long as it doesn’t have any fur coats or anything with animals

    • @BlueCrystalTear
      @BlueCrystalTear 10 месяцев назад +2

      @@silentbob3208yeah, it would be even better if they can sub out an insert of Drew Carey explaining why that first item up for bids isn't being shown, and to "go faux" in honor of Bob.

    It was rare for Clock Game to be played first back in 1972, as quickie games usually were played third back then. Eventually Clock Game did get played first on a semi-regular basis.

    This is the fifth time Clock Game was played on the show. It was assumed this was a replacement for Bullseye I but that and even Double Bullseye was still being played after it debuted. Clock Game was definitely the better high/low game.

    She may have been a little slow in giving bids, but at least she wasn't one of those contestants that gets totally mixed up and gets chastised by Bob. I believe that I would do well with the game, as I have the skill to keep the high and low points of the range of my bids in my head as I zero in on the correct price, but I can tell that some people have trouble with that and that's why they mess up the game.
