    I heard that the entire reason for the blacklist was because certain games used the touch screen/back touch and since the PS Vita TV uses a PS3 controller You can't play them.
    I think that with a PS4 controller You could use the touchpad to emulate one of the two screens and then just use a button to swap what screen it is.
    The other option is to just use a PS Vita itself as a controller like you can with the Game boy player.

    Got my Playstation TV back in 2015 for around 40 bucks on Amazon. Was a neat companion to my Vita slim as I could use the same memory card for both. I ended up jailbraking it so that I could play World of Final Fantasy on a tv cause I didn't have a PS4 yet. The strange thing for that game and a few others is that there was no real reason for it to not be able to be played on the pstv. It didn't use touch controls at all and didn't really have any kind of resolution or cpu issues to my knowledge. I can only assume it was because there was a PS4 version and the vita version was 20 bucks cheaper.

    8:30 a neat way to get video output from a handheld Vita is through a plugin called UDCD where it outputs video in a similar fashion to a webcam. Can get 864x488 video at 60fps. Some people use Raspberry Pi systems as docks.

    • @DaveSimonH
      @DaveSimonH Год назад +1

      Not surprising dualshock 4s are selling at full price now. They will be producing a fraction of the previous amount, economy of scale applies and so the higher price.
      In 2020 I got a DS4 controller + PS hits game for £40, in 2022 I got a controller on its own for £45. Now, the only place I can see it still instock new is at JohnLewis at £50. Who knows if/when they'll phase the DS4 out.
      The PS5 controller was cheaper during the 'Black Friday' sales, went down to £40. You're probably more likely to get a deal on that, rather than the DS4.
      If you're just looking for a good controller for your phone, have a look at the 8bitdo controllers. The 8bitdo Pro 2 is priced at £42, but regularly sells for around £35. Can be used with Switch, PC, Android, Mac, Raspberry Pi etc either via Bluetooth or USB (doesn't support PS4 though). When I bought mine, it was actually just under £32 in June 2022. I got it & the phone clip for £41 total. It was the grey model, that resembles the PS1 colour.

    I bought 2 vita tvs back in like 2016 for 40 bucks each. They both came in a bundle with a vita copy of borderlands 2 and a PS3 controller. At the time I was just meaning to buy a pair of new PS3 controllers, which were still going for $59.99 back then. I didn't even know what a vita tv was at the time, I just knew that I was getting a pair of dual shock 3 controllers for 40 bucks off retail so I happily bought them.
    Ive never been into the vita or handheld gaming in general, so I never bothered buying any vita games to play on either of mine. The feature I used my vita tvs for was the PS3 and PS4 remote play. I had a vita tv hooked up to my bedroom tv, and one hooked up to my basement tv, from either of those tvs I could remote play my PS3 or PS4 that were both located in my living room. Over a wired connection it worked quite well.

    If you are trying the internet method to hack your pstv I seriously suggest you use a wired connection.
    Using the wifi connection failed everything for me even after the installation stated the install succeeded, I only managed to install vita deploy successfully using an ethernet cable hooked up to my pstv and changing internet settings from wifi to wired connection on my pstv, afterwards the internet jailbreak method worked.
    If there are specific ps1, psp, or vita games that isn't available on pkgj that you were looking just know you can also use the ftp method from your phone to your vita to install games as well, but that method takes longer and requires a bit more knowledge to do so.
    Hope this helps those who tried hacking their pstv but were having issues due to crashing, the wired connection fixed all of my issues.

I just don't want to take over the TV at the end of the night for a game when my wife would rather watch TV or a movie. So as much as I would still want to collect one of these, I can't see myself using it, because I would either end up using my Vita for these games, or my Steam Deck for other emulation and PC games. This was a good video though, and props for keeping it alive. I have always liked the idea, but I don't think I will ever go through with it in practice.

    I got my Vita Tv back when they were having one of those fire sales and unloading them. It was packed with a PS3 controller and a Lego game. Honestly, I think I got it at the time because I needed a new PS3 controller, and getting the bundle was cheaper.

    I’m glad I got the PSTV, two of them, and both models of PSVita, because it’s nice and interesting with how the PSVita can connect with the the PS3 and PS4. I can play Destiny 2 or whatever PS4 game on my PSVita, with games that I have. Not 100% sure if all PS4 games can be played on PSVita, but I’d say PSVR games are not playable on the PSVita obviously. With no PS5, I have no idea about that, but definitely an underrated handheld by Sony. I’d say the biggest issue was how expensive the memory cards/chips were and still are. Nice way to play on a bigger screen with the PSTV. Just reminds me of the Super Boy for the Super Nintendo and the Gameboy Player for the GameCube. Speaking of the GameBoy Player I heard a few years ago that there’s a 3rd party product for the GameCube that also plays GBA Games on the big screen. Not sure if it does all GB, GBC, and GBA.
