I can't find anything that explains how the button activation wiring is hooked up to the operating track. A little help would be appreciated immensely. All I see are color codes on the track but no way to know which wire from the controller corresponds to which color.
A good video but I have found the contacts to be unreliable on this car. I have the automatic Lionel Nesquik milk car and I decided to add this Polar Express creamy hot chocolate milk car. My Nesquik milk car works every time on the track. I had a very hard time getting the PE milk car working. I have the fastrack 12054 automatic track. I have tried two different brand new Polar Express milk cars, both with the same problem. The car does not activate when the button is pushed. Roll the car onto the automatic track and press the button and nothing happens. I spent a good amount of time diagnosing the problem and what I found is that the PE electric pickups for the two inner rails do not hang down far enough so they will intermittently make contact with the rails. When compared to my Nesquik milk car, the contacts hang lower on the Nesquik car, so they always make good contact. With the PE milk car, if I press the button and nothing happens, I have to hold the button then adjust the wheel trucks on the car until it makes good contact and operates. Once it is making good contact, then the car works until I move it. My track is clean but it still does not make good contact. Every time I drive the car onto the automatic track, I need to wiggle the wheels to make the car operate. A dumb design flaw in an expensive item. It the contacts hung down just a little lower, it would work every time like the Nesquik automatic milk car.
Thanks for pointing out this issue. I’m going to try one of the suggestions made in response to your comment, and bend the contacts to make a better connection. Most of the time, I’ve had to manually adjust the position to make it work. Thanks for watching and commenting! Owen
@@OKRanchRailroad Which contacts did you bend to make a better connection? I'm having trouble with a Christmas dump car that isn't quite making contact with the rails. I'm afraid to try to adjust the shoe which could break the fiber board holding it on.
In "O" Gauge tubular track, the correct section is 6-65530. In "O-27" the section is: 6-12746. As you mention, the platform floor can be adjusted to the track system used. But so can the operating voltage of the mechanism, by running the tracer wire back to the accessory voltage of your transformer instead of using track voltage.
Great video. Thanks for sharing.

That's a very good video and great review on the hot chocolate car. Enjoyed watching it. 👍

I too have this problem. Is there a way to fix it?
I fixed it by using a screwdriver to bend them a little and now it works everytime.

Thanks for the suggestion. I’m going to try it on my Operating Hot Chocolate and Operating Presents cars. Have a Happy and healthy New Year. Owen

Too much voltage. The cans should come out more smoothly & slowly.

At 2:55 in my layout video, you can see how my 60 year old version operates with accessory voltage: ruclips.net/video/EjOfd-bCqeQ/видео.html
Nice Video Owen! :) ❤️👍
your hand is blocking the view - can not see how you install the bottles
Going to make a “do over” very soon. Plus some new Polar Express rolling stock should be coming soon. Thanks for watching and commenting. Owen
I’ve been enjoying your vids.
I don’t know why Lionel isn’t making something that works smoother. This isn’t the 1950’s.
In the 1950's their merchandise worked. The 3662 & 3672 milk cars work fine on 11 volts. Todays' merchandise is questionable at best.
Nice hot chocolate car
Ok Owen
