Some corrections. Calcutta University was established in 1857. The oldest modern University in the subcontinent, a first after almost 700 years, When the illiterate Turks finished off all Buddhists Univerties from North India. Nalanda, Vikramshila, Odantapuri, Jagadala, Samavihara and Taxashila.
The word Hindu is a Persian word for people living on the river Indus (Sindhu with a s h shift becomes Hindu) and rest of the indian subcontinent.
Almost 1000 years before the Arabic Prophet invented Islam, the Greeks came to India ( the word India also derive from the river Indus, Sindhu becoming Indus)
There Historians wrote extensively about India. You guys can read it up.
India being more than 5000 year civilization, the land bounded by Indus river in the west, Himalaya mountains in the north, and sea at the south.
Religion is a primitive tribal west asian cult unknown to India. Spirituality yes, philosophy yes, but no religion.
As with the Greeks or Chinese.
99.99 Muslims of the indian subcontinent are converted Muslims, ethnically Indians (or Hindu, if this is what you like)
Rest 0.01% are Turks. Turks are not one of Indian people. Not native to Indian subcontinent including Afghanistan.

he has made few factual mistakes
    1) Calcutta University was not the first university. Nalanda and many other university were there.People from Europe/China used to come there. It was destroyed by Mughals. NALANDA is well document by ancient Chinese Travellers and Indian historians.
2)Yes BHARAT was collection of principle states, but they used to live together .Kings used to marry their daughter in different kingdoms . Tamil Movie CHOLA is coming. It was the most glorious empire for Native Indians

I would like to correct Mr. HOODBHOY on few points.
He told that there had not been any history of the word "Hindu" and there has never been any such identity as "Hindu" in any history of this land.
But the fact is that Going back to the pre-Islamic period in our own country we have many names of our national identity Bhart Varsha , Aryavarta etc. and our dharmaic identity as Sanatan Dharma , Vedic Dharma etc.
We find that our ancestors shared in common a name for their homeland. That was Bharatavarśa, which comprised at that time the present day Seistan province of Iran, Afghanistan, Pakistan, India, Nepal, and Bangladesh.
They also shared in common a name for the spiritual cultural
      complex to which they subscribed.
      That was Sanatana Dharma, which
covered Brahmanism, Buddhism, Jainism, and also what are now
known as tribal religions. But there is no evidence, literary or epigraphic, that they shared in common a name for themselves as a people.
Some Purāṇas say that Bharatavarsa is the land of the bhärati santatih.

The ancient Greeks were quite familiar with the words Indus" and "Indoi" their way of pronouncing "Sindhu and
    "Sindhis'".
The ancient Arabs, Turks (Sakas, Kuşāņas, etc.), Mongo-
lians (Hunas, Kirātas, etc.), and the Chinese were also familiar with the word, sometimes in their own variations on it such as "Shin-tu".
It may thus be said that the word Hindu" had acquired a national connotation since the days of the Avesta, although in the eyes of only the foreign-
ers. At the same time, it may be noted that the word was oblivious of all distinctions in terms of class, or caste, or religion among the "Hindus"
    in ancient times.
If we talk about the authentic archeology based history of this word. We find that
A Kanarese inscription discovered in the Fort of Penugonda (now in Andhra Pradesh) and dated Śaka samvat 1276 (AD 1354) describes Bukka I of Vijayanagara as "hinduraya-suratrāṇa purva-paschima-sam-
udrādhipati" , that is, the Sultan among the Hindu kings, and lord of the eastern and western seas.'
Next, we have the Satyamangalam (North Arcot District, Tamil Nadu) Copper Plate inscription of Devaraya II
dated (AD 1424) in which verse 8 says that "Through
the wind (which was produced) by the flapping of the ears of the elephants on the field of battle, the Tulushka (ie Musalman) horsemen
experienced the fate of cotton (ie were blown away".
Then follows the verse which applauds the king as hinduraya-suratrana-vandivargenavanditah, that is, "the Sultan among the Hindu kings as eulogised by the hards"
Two more inscriptions of Devarayva dated AD 1427.

Dr. Hoodbhoy is quoting Marxist history of India, which has been discredited. Hindus call our religion as Sanatana Dharma, which is based on Vedas, Darshanas, Puranans, Ramayan and Mahabharat. Bharat is a civilizational area connected by religion, rivers and pilgrimage places. It is unfortunate that even a well educated thinker like Dr. Hoodbhoy denies the existence of Indian Civilization, which is the oldest civilization in the world.

Pakistanis only love to quote 1951 census when total migration was over. Except from East Punjab there was hardly any migration. Biharis who went to east Pakistan their fate is known.

    • @SRsudhanshuranjan

@@universityteacher from 4:00 min Dr. Hoodbhoy have denied the entire existence Indian Civilization. It is true that the term "Hindu" is new and was used to denote natives(non- turks) by muslim rulers but this does not mean we didn't have any Civilizational consciousness. From the Karkota dynasty of Kashmir to the Cholas of Tamil nadu, from the builders of Buddhas of Bamiyan to Ahoms of assam they all were bound by common ethics, civilizational values, art, culture, music and most important sanskrit. And the concepts of Bharat is mentioned in "Rig Veda" (oldest scripture) as land between Himalayas and Indian Ocean where people of different languages reside. This is what Marxist historians have failed to understand, they see India though European lens.
