Honestly, if you're going out in the wild, it's only smart to bring rope and a machete, along with matches/lighter and/or firestarter.

You can easily make that with wild plants if you know what to look for, but that much would take at least a week to produce. That's also providing that you were wrapping it while kicking back for a whole lot of hours and not doing anything else. (Natural cordage that's actually worth a damn is quite time intensive, so I'm sure they're skipping all that to keep things short. So it's reasonable to treat it as an available resource, even if not immediately so as in this presentation.)

He reached Hawaii 2 days later and enjoyed a coconut lunch...sold the Reed boat to a tourist for 50000 dollars...retired now.

This method could be done in many parts of the world. For instance boats like these were popular in Egypt for thousands of years. The Egyptian ones are made from papyri. In this video he said the plant he used was a bullrush. In general it's a matter of looking for a long stemmed plant that is very lightweight when dried. On of the benefits of using this type of plant is that it can be done in places that have few trees.

Where a lot of these people get their ideas from. I would trust some of their skills over these people anyday. They live it instead of just acting it
