There is a lot more to.know about serve, but this is the basic foundation of a proper serve and very hard to execute. This tennis instructor knows his job. Amazing video.

    Hi coach,
How about the jump when serving?

Hey! The jump all depends on how advanced your serve is. Often people focus on the jump and power and accuracy before getting the solid fundamentals to a comfortable spot where it feels rhythmic and natural. I recommend to think about it like this:
When you toss and you release the ball keep going up with your tossing arm as if you are reaching up toward the sky, as you do this you will tilt back and your tossing hip would shift towards the baseline and this is when you would engage the knee bend- bend your knees towards your toes and if you do this you will know when to jump.
Although I have served upwards of 130 mph with almost zero knee bend to prove to students that the power comes from your wrist not necessarily your jump.
      I hope this helps!
