A part of the gothic subculture theme is the lost innocence, so a bit of brightness here and there is perfectly okay as long as there's a story for it.
Brilliant comment mate! I saw him in Nittingham in 2006, I can confirm he didnt smile once. He had a moustache then too and didnt smile when somebody in the audience requested Ace of spades!!
Yeah I reckon I've been listening to him for about 30 years, and this is the happiest I've seen him. But I'm glad, if he was happy, we wouldn' t have his music.
This duet is so haunting and beautiful, it’s truly more than the sum of its parts. And that says quite a lot since both artists are amazing in their own right. I can’t get enough of the dark gothic energy of this ballad.
This song played on a mainstream pop channel at my parents' place a while back and my mother said it's a beautiful song. I asked her if she knew what it's about and she didn't. I told and her reaction was like "oh...that's not nice"
I used to listen to this song when I was around 7 or 8 years old, they used to play it a lot on VH1 classic (I think?), I didn't know what it was about since I didn't understand English much back then and was to young to grasp the meaning from the video, and I didn't know it was Kylie singing it. then years later I found out that the artist who sang one of my most hated songs from childhood "I can't get you out of my head", is the same person who sang this song, which is kinda funny because it was when I was in my teenage "rebel mode" and hated pop artists like her with passion.
Excellent. Her feelings barely under control, while she keeps on high performance standard, and at the same time honoured by the blessing of having Nick Cave on her very stage, while singing his beautiful poem.
I have a biography of him, written years before this duet, in which Kylie gives a pull quote along the lines of 'so interesting!' So apparently the connection, or at least admiration, predates this. :)
Tim Emm Nick was a fan of Kylie since she left Ramsay St, writing a few songs for her but scrapping them until this one. They really like each other as friends and musicians.
Great to see Nick Cave performing again. He has had a lot of tragedy to deal with the last few years. This song really shouldn’t have worked when it came out all those years ago but it did👍🏻
@@acutebisectrix9461 Thank you for information, i saw his concert first time in Prague 2017 and im his unbelievable fan!!! .... And i love Kylie for her beauty and voice for this awesome deep duet!
I wonder why murder ballads aren't as popular nowadays. she's wearing a dress made by nick's wife. "the vampire's wife". Literally can't deal with that cute hug at the end!!! Friendship goals
Nick Cave isn't underrated, real musicians don't want the gossip and fame that's goes with pop music, which in itself is regarded as the lowest most inferior genre of music!
Kylie..... Sigh.... A companion of my heart for 30 years now. Became a fan of her in summer 1989 when I was on vacation in France at the Atlantic coast and the local radio station Super Radio FM played her single 24/7... Big sigh.... Evolution from a pop singer with the Stock Aitken Waterman sound to a really gorgeous artist and such a beautiful lady. She has more charme in her little finger than most "new kylies" will ever have in her life...
_The Loco-Motion_ was my unfortunate introduction to Kylie. It wasn't until _Better the Devil You Know_ in '90 that I began to take interest in her, but as a club artist because, after '89, she didn't chart in the U.S. again until '01 with *Fever.*
This is beautiful, chilling and wholesome all at the same time and I don't know how to feel. Beautiful because the song is beautiful and they look amazing singing it Chilling because well damn acting, cuddling up and looking sweet while singing those lyrics. Wholesome because Nick Cave is actually smiling and looks really happy
@@PatientenO.T. Full band with Warren Ellis, He and Nick have strong stage presence. The venue was small(2000 people indoors) and very intimate.I rank it up there with Tom Waits, Rage Against the Machine, Tool, White Zombie, Nine Inch Nails and others. Some artists just blow you away when they get in front of you. Its like they play to you like it was the last day of their lives. Nick is one of those people who will release himself to the crowd if they are tuned in. He becomes more intense as he feeds from the crowd. I've seen a lot of artists perform live and some of them are like watching paint dry on a wall. I prefer to be engaged and not just observe.
I finally listened to the album this is off of to see if there was a live version of the song. I'm enamoured with this. I always thought Adam cohen and del ray singing chelsea hotel was pure love. But THIS. Nick Cave is just brings another level of professionalism to his performances. His charisma is genuinely unmatched by anyone except Leonard Cohen
EUGH THE PASSION!! I adore them both, they clearly both gave each other a whole new world, and this performance is nostalgia for them. Its my fav Kylie and Nick song.
Getting teary. I love Nick and Kylie together, they appreciate each other so much. I want more recording of them together instead of the soulless crap she is doing now
First time heard this song about 20 yrs ago..and the video clip was epic. 20 yrs after..they still sang the song perfectly. I miss the young Kylie. Greeting from Indonesia 🌹🌷🌷🌹
The chemistry is palpable! The Prince of goth and the princess of pop! The most unlikely duo you could think of! And it worked perfectly!
NYC 42 it’s the contrast.

The Gothfather.
@@techgeek3366 Gothfather? That's Andy Eldridge…
Aussies always work well together.
I've been listening to Nick Cave for about 33 years....and I reckon I seen him smile more times here than in those combined 30 odd years.
Brilliant comment mate! I saw him in Nittingham in 2006, I can confirm he didnt smile once. He had a moustache then too and didnt smile when somebody in the audience requested Ace of spades!!
He was smitten lol Love them both
He has had alot of loss in his life so i can understand why he doesnt smile much.
Yeah I reckon I've been listening to him for about 30 years, and this is the happiest I've seen him. But I'm glad, if he was happy, we wouldn'

Safe to say Kylie makes everyone smile.
What a man. How loving, how physical. The way he writes in his Red Hand Files. How deeply he thinks and feels. A special, special human being.
Huh?
I went to his interview in Bremen last year and it was magic. He's really a very charismatic and intelligent man
Nick has really grown a depth of character over the years. He’s really awesome.
Kylie Minogue + Nick Cave +Where The Wild Roses Grow= MASTERPIECE 💕
How can you NOT love Nick and Kylie ?❣🖤 Nick you are my God 😉🤗
Literally can't deal with that cute hug at the end!!!
Friendship goals
This song always sends shivers down my spine. The obvious affection between them makes me smile.
This duet is so haunting and beautiful, it’s truly more than the sum of its parts. And that says quite a lot since both artists are amazing in their own right. I can’t get enough of the dark gothic energy of this ballad.
Kylie Cave and Nicky Minogue! This is a duet for the ages and ages well. So beautiful to see them show their friendship.
Friendship goals. Kylie deserves this kind of healthy friendship ♥
Kylie and Nick just sang a murder song in Glastonbury that's pretty metal
Mental* ?
For Metal heads it means "cool"
This song played on a mainstream pop channel at my parents' place a while back and my mother said it's a beautiful song. I asked her if she knew what it's about and she didn't. I told and her reaction was like "oh...that's not nice"
When did you sing?
The same think here.
Still beautiful these two together, like the first time they made this song.
I remember when this came out it mede me look at Kylie in a whole new light. I love Nick Cave and this song is awesome.

... beonders der Text ... ist ja sooooo verführerisch und lieblich ... der Wahnsinn!
Dieser Lust-Mord ist sicher der Traum jeder schönen Frau! 😳
It was funny as this made Nick mainstream but Kylie cooler..
Kylie Minogue and Nick Cave are like fine wine 🍷- they get better and better with age 💋
Bordering on criminal how good she still looks.
Excellent. Her feelings barely under control, while she keeps on high performance standard, and at the same time honoured by the blessing of having Nick Cave on her very stage, while singing his beautiful poem.
oh u can see the emotion shared between them here, this is there song 100 % no other combination would work for this one
They look so happy performing together :)
Very moving, you can see that they're both really fond of one another.

I just learned he lost another son in 2022.
This shit is insane. I’ve never seen this before. Fantastic.
same, id only ever seen the music video until now
I full-on freaked out when Nick stepped on the stage! I love Kylie, but I'm an insanely huge Bad Seeds fan.
I wonder why murder ballads aren't as popular nowadays.

This was way beyond beautiful
This is so great..Nick brings Kylie in his own world..he totally took her for a beautiful musical trip
And she, him!
OMG I'm crying right now, Wow this is so beautiful and nostalgic
even me.i feel old
Was an absolute pleasure to be down the front for this, thought there was a chance Nick might turn up. Brilliant!
They are like a fine rose wine.
Just WOW! My favourite duett. What a performance that was.
Those roses in the front row and their sweet interaction with each other - that was so touching despite the sinister song meaning
Nick Cave at Glastonbury - Happy days. Excellent song
Im crying looking this waves of roses...
She's still soooo good!
I wonder why murder ballads aren't as popular nowadays.
Haha, comment of the year
😂😂😂
Please explain lop
You're right...
Folks like Colter Wall and Tyler Childers have brought Murder Ballads back to Country-Western music
Nick Cave spent his entire carrer underrated but it suits him and his mystic, goth style.
Nick Cave isn't underrated, real musicians don't want the gossip and fame that's goes with pop music, which in itself is regarded as the lowest most inferior genre of music!
kylie minogue is so amazing
Kylie is much more beautiful now than 30 years ago.

Just to let you all know, I saw Nick Cave live a few years ago and it was like rapture in a travelling salvation show. The best.

Such an iconic performance!!! 🌹
Lovely. The kind of pop music I was listening to when I was a teenager.
They embrace at the end.... Cue tears streaming down my cheeks
I'd been waiting hoping she'd sing this... when saw ( well heard) it was nick cave with her... pretty much cried thru all of it :D. Fantastic sunday..

Kylie's best song...
Nick Cave is actually smiling and hugging. I want to be hugged by him, too.
Better to wave with roses than with smartphones.
Better the roses than rocks in their fists 😊

Amen to that

What a brilliant song...great lyrics
and now we want a live performance with PJ Harvey :) imagine that in 2019 :)
