The Trooper that I travel all over the country in is a carbureted 2.6 with a Weber carb and an alternator. It needs one hot wire and one fuel line to make it run. I got the idea from all the 40's and 50's tractors still running all over the countryside. Simple devices easily maintained by common men with common tools and limited mechanical skills and knowledge. It's a bulletproof combination and can be all done using factory isuzu parts making it a bolt on "mod".
I'm working on a 91 Isuzu Pickup with the 2.3 4ZD1. I took the engine down to the block in the frame to determine if it needed to come out. It did but I wanted to see how much I could put back on the engine when it goes back in. Looks like I can get most of the accessories back installed. The transmission is also out. Helpful video thanks!
You have to eliminate the in tank high pressure fuel pump and wither use the 2.3 mechanical fuel pump or wire in a low pressure electric pump. Napa sells a low pressure 1-3 PSI pump that works perfectly.
It gets REALLY easy to work on once you get rid of the EFI and go carb, especially if you use the mechanical fuel pump put a Weber on it. Simple, simple simple.
Because i was going to pull the head anyway.. i took everything off the block and this let me easily get to those bolts, but this is a great tip suggestion taking off the motor mounts , thanks and cheers.
This engine looks so much easier to work on with the left hand drive set up, here in Australia the damn brake master, brake booster and clutch master are all jammed up around the intake manifold making access to the starter motor and anything else around that area an absolute pain in the butt 🤦♂️ meanwhile there’s nothing around the exhaust manifold
hello i have a 93 isuzu amigo i bought and the egr pipe on the back ( the copper pipe) i believe is what you called it i had to cut to pull the top half off to fix head gasket. is that pipe vital ?
i like how tech your son to fix cars I have a son also and he like cars very much fixing driving cleaning. And thank you for taking the time to making the video I learn a lot
Hey I have a 88 Isuzu trooper with a 2.6 and a 5 speed and I was wandering if a 4.3 will fit in it I read somewhere that it will and u seem to know tour stuff so I figured I'd ask
Hey Johny sorry to bother you but it seems like you are the person who can understand me, I bought a 97 Trooper last year in Texas so I drove that all the way down to Mexico City, I knew there was a couple of troubles that I did notice, first one when Im driving and the gears pass from 2 to 3rd gear a considerable blow comes from the engine, well I should say from the transmission itself, and the same way back when Im slowing down the speed. It was until the middle this year that he did change then the big ball that goes in the rear of the truck (sorry I dont know the name of it in english) in spanish is diferencial, still not solving anything, then he does the tun up for the transmision by changing the filter, oil, also he review there were no metallic residues or something else that could indicate something inside of the transmision was damaged.he told me everything seems to be ok but he feels like perhaps the valves body is the part causing the problem, In your experience does that make sense? also two months ago when I finally got the plates in order for me to be able to drive my Trooper just the day right after, I fall into a huge pothole and the tire got damage as well as the suspension, I being towed to my house.. It took me almost 3 months for me to get the parts ordered it from the US but even that the mechanic replace about 4 pieces on each side the Trooper still not working it seems like the well is sliding off so I have to turn less the well in order for me to go on. What I did notice is the 4X4 indicator is on all the time, for my bad luck the seller told me everyting was working fine but the interruptor is all loose from the wires so we need to look wich cables are supposed to go into where or wich interruptor. I know this seems to be a nightmare but please I need your help or advise I really want to rescue my Trooper before I give up with some many difficulties.. sadly the seller was not honest about all this problems.. so I guess one of teh questions now is how can I turn off the 4X4? or ever better hows does that supposed to work? what position does the gear shift goes? I will appreciate any advise or help you can provide me
No, the displacements get larger from A to E so by going to a larger combustion chamber head you reduce the compression and the motor will not run. Going to smaller combustion chamber heads is a common way of increasing compression.
Dude
you’re a genius
thank you

FYI those top tranny bolts can be accessed on a 5spd by pulling the shifter boot and using a 20” extension going in from shifter area.

I have learned so much from your great videos. THANK YOU!
I was thinking about putting a small block Chevy in my 1991 isuzu 2wd truck have you ever done that?
Do I have to put a fuel pressure regulator on to run a carburetor if it was a efi

Can you put a 2.3 1991 two wheel drive pickup engine into a 1992 pickup 2.6 4×4
I am in the middle of redoing my timing belt. Do you have an accessory belt diagram ? I have an 89 pickup truck 4x4 2.6
No, sure haven't. I'm pretty sure I've heard of guys doing it though.
Dude you are so awesome love the video with your son your videos are great keep it coming.
Yes, no problem at all.

Did you fixed the problem, I know you posted this 5 yrs ago
can isuzu 4za1 half engine fit with 4zb1 or 4zd1 cylinder head?

My experience remove engine third time rebuilt 4ze1, easy by myself alone ,I love Isuzu trooper 1988
Great video man !!!
Glad I can be of service.
