    I've been sewing for over 40 yrs both for the public and family. You have a good eye and sew very well. I really like this one and its done very modestly and neatly. Only 1 critical note - you have 2 shirts that button the opposite directions. The top opens to the right and bottom to the left (probably 1 man and 1 woman shirt). The skirt could have been altered with a little work to match the top just a little more complicated. Keep up the good work, your videos are enjoyable.

      Or just by turning the second shirt upside down, if the fabric allows it.

    Thanks for posting this diy. I have had the idea about doing this for a couple of days now, figuring out in my head how to do it and wat do I need, shirts-wise. Seeing your tutorial makes it a tot clearer and easier. Now I know I need a size M and a size XXL shirt to make this work. Hope I can find matching colored shirts in the thrift shop tomorrow.

    And if you really like to sew and you have enough excess material for a belt with fabric left over from the bottom of the long shirt you can create a belted section between the bottom and top halves. If the belted area has a button you could dress it up with a button on the left and right side of that button and have a place to button your belt if you want it to flop. And if you like shorter skirts you can probably get away with a tall man's shirt by itself and tailor it for the waistline. You can also try a variety of collars, mandarin, wingtip or non button down regular collars. Don't forget shirts with epaulets. And don't forget Hawaiian shirts with all the bold prints and colors. Can even wear it with leggings.

    I would recommend that you make the top of the skirt part the same size as the bottom of the shirt. Otherwise one might be bigger than the other and not line up right. In your case they seem to have lined up but that doesnt always happen lol

      Good Eye mate, I totally thought she was using a men's shirt for the top piece and wondered why she said to make sure they were similar in color. I think my OCD would go into overdrive trying to match placket widths and side seams with something off a rack. And if the bottom shirt is hemmed straight across you can leave the little men's tag to show your girlfriends your creativity.

    Wow this always stumps me - I see on sew many videos (ba-dmm tsh) youtubers leaving the pins in and sewing over them! I've tried but my pins get bent out of shape --- My questions are: Where do you buy these magical dressmakers pins? And wouldn't they eventually come into contact with the sewing needle?

    • @Angel-td9yk
      @Angel-td9yk 6 лет назад +1

      When you pin perpendicular to the fabric you can sew over them. If you are so unfortunate that your needle hits the pin just right then (both the needle or the pins) may still bend or break

    • @mesquitemagic
      @mesquitemagic 5 лет назад +3

      Sew slower and pull the pins out before you hit them.
