Love how John Carpenter couldn't afford the rights to use "Enter Sandman" for the opening credits of In The Mouth of the Madness. He probably went like "Wait a minute, I'm John Carpenter. Fuck Metallica, I'll do my own Enter Sandman!".
This is way more epic, and it's original too. Fitting badass theme for one badass film.
Wasn't it supposed to be The Call of Ktulu? That would make more sense.
@@cookieface80 It actually would, but from musical standpoint, this theme is something completely different. Call of Ktulu & Hangar 18 by Megadeth share the same chord progression, check it out
@@bmsuperstar1 Yes, the intro theme is pure gold and you're right, it's way cooler than Enter Sandman intro. But Metallica's song sounds heavier, more "metal" in a conventional way. Also, Enter Sandman is really simple, so simple you can sing it. Good luck singing this intro (unless you're trained musician, that it ;) ). Simplicity is the king when writing a pop song, so this little marvelous tune would never beat Enter Sandman in the charts. Too Bad!
To be honest, this song kind of reminds me of the Goosebumps theme song. But yeah; the theme for In The Mouth of Madness is proof that John Carpenter can make a better Metallica song than anything that post-Cliff Burton Metallica has made since And Justice For All.
One of Carpenter's more underrated scores. Starts like something from Starcraft, then proceeds to sound like a generic 90's Metallica knockoff, but then you start to hear Carpenters signature motives. A great track!
Yes! So I wasn't the only one thinking about Terran Theme lol
By the way, apparently Carpenter originally intended to use Metallica's Enter Sandman for this movie, but he couldn't afford the horrid license fees and instead went and made this by himself.
All for the better I guess!
GOD DAMN YES! Im so happy people can hear the Starcraft Terran sounds! I had both tracks playing back to back thinking if anyone else made this connection! seems... we read Sutter Cane
i was going to say that exact thing about it sounding like a RTS song
I couldn't place it until you pointed it out, but yeah, the first part of the song feels a lot like Enter Sandman by Metallica
This has always been one of my all time favorite movie themes! I love how the keyboard melody flips after the middle section to imply you've passed through to the other world.
This is actually quite fitting for the film, as its chaotic but epic harmony encompasses the madness with the rising and falling guitar riffs adding to the insanity.
And when taken into account that this is the third film in the Apocalypse Trilogy, it makes sense that the height of the end would have a climactic theme at its peak.
Do y'all read Sutter Cane?
I read it. Went mad ;)
Do I?!?!? (Smashes through Snakeway's window)
You can forget about Stephen King, Cane outsells them all.
Only when I'm chilling with my homie Yog-Sothoth!
@@kynaston1474 .
John Carpenter is the man. HIs music compositions have a life of their own even without the movie. You can sort of close your eyes and it takes you into the abyss.
Best Lovecraftian movie ever
It's a homenage to Lovecraft and Stephen King
I can't help but love it. He wrote me this way!
If you get the chance to see him in tour, I strongly recommend that you go! I went last year and it was brilliant!
I'm my own man and nobody pulls my strings.
Did my agent attack you accident? He read about you, in THERE. He knew you'd bring it back and start the CHANGE, make what's happened here happen everywhere... he tried to stop you
*proceeds to have his strings pulled by an author, literally owing his existence to the guy*
@Ima Pseudonym Huh? Who said that?
We are not living in a Sutter Cane story! This is not reality! This is not reality! This is not reality! ...this...is...REALITY... 😃😄😆😂🤣😫😩😫
Did I ever tell you that my favorite color is blue?
Loving this! Carpenter's music/tone is the backbone to his films. I'd love to see another dark film from him, using this band sparingly, thing style low-key.
Would be really cool to hear and see.
Carpenter... if you read these, go and crowd fund a project FFS! We want to watch your movies, bypass the studios and go nuts! mad not to!
Seriously underrated. It is prophecy.
Oh myyyyy would I put money into that.
Was Awesome seeing John do this live in manchester. Lovecraftian masterpiece :)
Was it awesome?
Did I ever tell you, my favourite colour is......BLUE!
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
Did I ever tell you ,my favourite dinosaur is velociraptor
Where we're going, we won't need BLUE to see.
@@sanketkarn4860 Allen!
Thank you Master Carpenter for such magnificence and beautiful music, thank you master Kojima and Master Del Toro for remaining me.
The wonderful multi-artist Carpenter! Can't get enough!
I am so buying this. I've always loved Carpenters themes and his music overall, and its fantastic that he is revisiting some of his classic work. These reworked versions are top notch so far. I'm sure the rest will be fantastic too.
As much as I'd love to see a new John Carpenter film, if this is what he's happier doing right now that's fantastic. Keep up the great work John! Already preordered this album. Lost Themes 1 & 2 were great.
He made a movie in 2010 called The Ward, but it's apparently meh.
His contributions to the Masters of Horror TV series are fantastic though.
This is my ringtone forever .... Its the best tune when someone calls you
I still love John Carpenter his filmography and discography still remains awesome
The Thing will always take top spot on my list of favorite Carpenter flicks. Finding number two is hard, Sometimes it's In the Mouth of Madness other times it's Escape from New York, Halloween is required watching on Halloween. Prince of Darkness hits all the marks for me. They Live is a lot of fun.
Have you ever watched Big Trouble In Little China? It's awesome.
@@BioGoji-zm5ph awesome flick
I think it's time to start cinemarathon of all Carpenter's masterpieces...
Awesome movie! Still is grande. And good old Sam played great

He sees you ;)
Dan Warren tell him i say hi 😂😂😂😂😂
Incredible!!!
This is amazing!!
This sounds exactly as if Death Magnetic-era Metallica covered the main theme. Carpenter really nailed the sound of Metallica when he composed this!
A new JC album? I'm in
Lived any good books lately?
IG121gigawatts No, but I sure lived some bizzare dreams lately. Nightmarish.

john carpenter also made all the food in his movies himself, even the canned goods in the thing, and all of it was delicious.
Wow love it
Great Second Visit. We wait for the full Anthology.
Awesome !

Thank you my online friend for introducing me to this ;)
A reworked version of one of Carpenter's greatest themes?
Sign me up!
moron....
That's not very nice...
I thought the same, I totally agree with your original comment.
Not the Carpenters, too! ;)
It seems to listen "Enter Sandman" by Metallica, but atmospheres and production filtered by Ghost BC.
I can imagine Papa Emeritus voice on it.
Great movie, anyway, one of my favorite.
This is great can't wait for the full album but I hope this audio is not the final master got the guitar and drum audio coming in hot....loud is not better...let the sounds come clean don't brickwall this music of this great horror director!! #StopTheLoudnessWars #JusticeForAudio
So good
great soundtrack!
Great.
This is a re-recording or a different mix altogether, doesn't sound like the movie version at all
The original sounds more Carpenter.
SUPER!!!
love this tune. Anyone recall Black Death in the late 70s . also ahead of the curve.
BRING IT ON!!! 👊
As if one would ever think we would get amazing releases after Lost Themes ;-)
The End Is Epic
Oh hell yes
This would be the sickest pro wrestling entrance theme
THE BEST!!!
Carpenter the ultimate god
2:19 epic synths in 3, 2..
En fermant les yeux ...on peut vivre le fantasme !
Do you listen to John Carpenter?
This sounds like if Ghost wrote Enter Sandman 🤘🤘
This song is the blueprint for Ghost's sound. Check out 'Cirice' by them. Parts sound almost identical.
Reality is not what it used to be!
Do you read Sutter Cane?
🔥🔥🔥
Maybe you can release the 2 bonus tracks that were on the 7" and make them available digitally now that time has gone by?
This man is a superlative.
OH YEAH!

ITMOM has been one of my favorite Carpenter films for years (I think it squeaks in just behind Halloween and The Thing), but as much as I love the film and even this theme in its own right, they simply don't work together at all. There's nothing about that film that says "hard rock" to me. The Halloween score is far closer to the vibe I get from that film. It's deeply unsettling, existentialist cosmic horror and a more creepy, intimate theme would have served the film much better. This sounds like a much more appropriate theme for Escape From L.A or even Vampires, Ghosts of Mars or They Live.
WoW
this straight up Hobbs's End my bad vibes!
My favorite color is BLUE👤🗣️🫂👥👕🧢🦋🦕🐳💧💦🫐🥏
is there going to be a phisical copy of this album?
much love
(and madness)
Do you know which guitarist who composed the guitar lines of this song
Dave Davies from The Kinks was on the original soundtrack
Thanks
It's more "don't fear the reaper" then "enter sandman".

Its one of those movies one cannot forget easily, if ever.
How many of todays horror-movies were inspired or affected by the movie in some way or another is difficult to say. Not to mention Halloween, which made me
to go to the cinema with a frieend of mine and watch the new one recently. It was splendid imo. But thats another story.
This is literally Lovecraft the movie
for something that was supposed to replace enter sandman it's by far better in my opinion when you fall head first in the mouth of madness!
I read Sutter Kane!
i need the tab, for the love of Sutter Cane
"say your prayers little one..." oh wait wrong song XD
...we've ALL read Sutter Cane!!!

Do you even Cane, bro?
Sounds like Silent Hill
It sounds like Enter Sandman reimagined by Megadeth.
the Megadeth vibe is DEFINITELY there!
No, I only have read the necronomicon...

When does fiction become religion?
Albert Kurth
Religion has always been fiction.
When it is written by L. Ron Hubbard
Lovecraft style.
All kinds of shitty comments yet no one realizes that people may want to hear similar tracks. Give recommendations ya shites.
METALICCARPENTER...
I felt the bass was laid on a little too thick. I prefer the original.
Wow, Metallica didn't sue Carpenter for this?
Nope. You can only do that if the melody is similar. Chord progressions, rhythms and timbre can’t be copyrighted.
