Black Friday Sales are everywhere, but one I highly recommend is Ulanzi. This link will take you through to some amazing deals: geni.us/BpnzFp Does this improvement increase your chances of getting one? Or do you already own the Zero Y?
No it’s not. Because their Zero Y is. Best 2022 Tripod: Ulanzi + Coman Carbon Fibre Travel Tripod (Zero Y Review) ruclips.net/video/IU27yw4GpqI/видео.html
I currently use the PD plate on the Zero-Y because the opposite doesn't work, but the PD plate doesn't lock in place on the Zero-Y which makes me nervous that if I don't tighten it enough the camera will just fall out. For the F38, does the plate fit into the PD capture clip? If I can get the F38 plate working on the PD capture clip I will get the ballhead upgrade
Ulanzi is not true arca swiss. These ulanzi plates can go to other heads, but other plates cannot go on this head, even when the little screws are removed. My experiences have told me only go to real arca swiss. They meant professional design and makes life much easier. I have a couple of none arca swiss tripods laying around and plates are missing. I'm willing to pay a few hundred more for true arca swiss.
Little bummed they released this a week after getting the previous model but isn’t that the way photo gear works? I like the tripod fine though it’s more of $200 tripod dressed up like a $600 tripod that sells for $350. I’ve put my Z9 and D850 atop and it’s a little shaky when extended to full length, less so when shortened. Good for tossing in the backpack, maybe not so much for scenarios where you need a more stable platform...
"Is the F38 Quick Release Travel Tripod even better than the Zero Y from Ulanzi and Coman?" In a word, no. The last thing I need in my life is another set of proprietary quick release plates. The Zero Y takes almost any Arca Swiss plate, including Peak Design Capture Clip plates.
