    I love this idea. I have a lot of worsted weight yarn so I will need to get a larger hook. Is any one else using worsted weight yarn?

    This is exactly what I was planning to do after Christmas! I have several tubs full of scraps and partials. I make lots of hats and scarves for donation, but also like scrappy blankets. Perfect timing!

      Me too I was winding them up and starting January 1 was going to make one and it has all weights

    • @mamabear10
      @mamabear10 2 года назад +3

      @@nancymacdonald2395 I think if we keep one strand in a lighter weight as a constant, it should work just fine. Doesn’t need to be the same color..more fun to switch it up maybe, just ONE strand on the hook being the odd man out, so to speak. This is a fun project that invites us to don our lab coats and experiment.

    I love love love holding multiple strands and crocheting and knitting blankets. My fav yarn is fingering held 3 together. It always turns out so squishy and cozy.

    • @CrochetwithClare
      @CrochetwithClare  2 года назад +1

      Me too! It can create some fabulous colour combinations. I have been thinking of doing a fingering weight project with 3 strands. I can't decide if I want a blanket, sweater or cardigan 🤔

    I also crochet Trivets using 3 different color strands held together. Part of the fun is seeing the colors create one combination.
    Doesn't matter what u put together.

    Thanks for the tutorial, Clare - I think I'll make some mug rugs on Christmas Eve, as my daughter already has a pile of blankets that I've made over the years! Lol
    I could do with some new coaster-type things to protect my furniture, & the beauty of these, is that they can be washed - brilliant! 👍💖

    I love your tutorials Clare! Your camera really zooms in to know exactly where to place our crochet hooks. I'm curious about the animal you showed through your window. I would love to visit Australia some day. My dad was stationed there during WW Ii. Happy New Year from Houston, Texas!

    At 16:16 one colour was dropped, but it's ok, I just noticed, and just saying lol 😂 or it might have been the gold yarn camouflaged into the hook. Don't mind me 😊. Love doing the scrap blankets. Thanks for the tutorial. Crocheting from Tasmania in spring.

    Would it be too thick for a placemat? Would it be safe for a hot pad (to place hot pots on the table)?

    • @CrochetwithClare
      @CrochetwithClare  Год назад

      if you made them using cotton then yes it could be used for both. I would stay away from acrylic as it will melt with heat. The thickness would be fine but you could use just 2 strands if you are worried.
