I've always considered Wing Chun to be a thinking man's art. You are a great example of that. Thanks for your clear and logical instructions. Keep those videos coming.
@@GaryMaWingChun that’s awesome Gary! From your videos I can see you do have a very deep understanding of wing chun and it’s application in MMA settings. Your channel is no doubt one of the best out there!
Hi! I'm sorry for being off topic, but wing chun does not seem to have a centralized federation around the lineage of ip man. And there seems to be serious bickering between wing chun masters. Ip map movies by donnie yen created a huge hype, especially in china. I know some martial arts are just traditional only, or have sides teaching as the sport version etc, nowadays ufc, mma, sanda etc are insulting and shaming almost every possible martial that don't work there. Here is my question finally, do you think there is a serious wing chun teacher somewhere willing to train student under mma rules? I understand this may sound stupid, but it can bring glory to the martial art if "successful" fighters can appear using this in the octogon.
I do think it is inevitable that Wing Chun will continue to creep its way into the cage more and more as time goes on. But as to if or when we might see a successful MMA fighter representing Wing Chun like Wonderboy and Lyoto Machida represent Karate, I don’t know. Only time will tell.
@@GaryMaWingChun A lot of mma fighters or donnie yen fans genuinely tried to find wing chung club with sparring, cross training with others schools / mma included. But you need to find a teacher with serious background and outside ipman lineage that does not even stress test it's complicated. I mean you have already lot of tourists going to shaolin temple that became a theme park. Well I'm not rich and skilled enough to take the bet either lol I just browsed your website, I think it could be a good idea to mention in your youtube name, that your father was a direct student of ipman lineage, something like Gary Ma WC IPMAN's lineage. You mentioned several fighters in prize fights that made use of wing chun, if you make a special video with slow motion, commenting and describing the techniques involved, it would be the difference between you and all the others "lazy" teachers. Thanks for going through the trouble reading all of this.
