As someone who has been driving from Vancouver to Longview Washington for CDL school every day for the past three weeks I wish it was that short of a drive in real life.
Well shit, never expected to see anything I had/have a hand in being used on youtube and yet here we are. To give some more insight on the economy mod. BnB is an actual trucker and has access to DAT load boards and uses the data from it to help make pricing accurate. The mod doesn't touch only economy though, it goes through the values for wear, police, and as of now time of day. Interesting to see and thank you for using our stuff.

As a irl race car driver and hardcore simracer, I can’t stop playing American truck sim. I know nothing about trucks but it is up there with iracing in terms of fun. Something about chill chats with friends instead of constantly talking about iracing tire strategy’s or how we can get the karts to our national races. Just a chill way to blow off stream.

Every player plays the game in the way they choose. But for me, I don’t mind playing in what some might consider an ‘unrealistic’ manner. I like to ‘fiddle about’ with my mods. I don’t mind using the map mods in particular. I’ve driven from Alaska to southern Mexico, and right across Canada, which took five hours. I also use a lot of truck mods, lights and stuff. ATS is great! X

They absulotely have no trouble staying in business ;) In fact, they are expanding their team all the time, and have deals with multiple large truck companies.

I run the newer Volvo because that's what my grandfather drove up until the day he ended up in the hospital where he passed. I even run his tag as my co-driver plate.
Been using this economy mod for awhile now, only loads that give pretty decent money is oversized usually over 4 a mile and barts live stock trailer usually around 2.80 to 3.15

American trucks are just so beautiful to me. I know there are reasons as to why there is a difference between American & European trucks, but American trucks just look better to me.
Doubles are not bad if setup right. Seen guy put heavier trailer in rear big mistake pulling doubles. Wish ats added feature to decouple doubles and dock and hook up individually. Would be nice then also you could pickup a single trailer and pickup up second going to same spot in route later.
So this video popped up so I was watching it, all of a sudden I noticed a sign that said rush road then exit 72 and noticed the truck stop looked alot like love's. Then realized it was rush road in Chehalis Washington and I live there and that's why it looked so familiar 🤣
What are your settings for the most realistic feel? I have steering wheel, pedals, and trucking shifter. Former OTR driver myself for 4 years, so really wanting to maximize the opportunity. I don't do any mods though lol

Out of all the 'vanilla' trucks available, I go for the Peter 389. I absolutely *loathe* the styling of modern semi's, classic look every time for me. Even better if'n I can get me some 5-6 spoke Dayton wheels (when the mod works properly). That needlenose Peter 350 mod looks nice, too, I'll have to look that out sometime. Oh, and I nearly always use a 13-gate transmission. 10s are useless when you Heavy-Haul, my favourite play style, and 18s just don't seem to have that OOOMPH! you're looking for when moving 76,000lbs . . .

I've driven an 8LL and a 10 speed IRL, I prefer my 10 speed KW over the 8LL Pete but I'd like to try a 13 speed. We don't need 18 for our work and I feel I'd get really confused driving it

Been playing ATS for a while now. and i try to do my best to keep the immersion in the game. mind you i do not have a steering wheel/pedals and no shifter. but i digress. I have a question or two perhaps. One of the questions that i have is, how do you determine where to stop at a red light. with a vehicle in front of you or just the white line. My dad's a trucker and he told me to line up the centre of the hood to the lines to maintain your spacing within the road lanes. but i never did ask him about what to use for determining where to come to a stop.
IRL if there is a vehicle in front of you at a stop light, you are supposed to stop far enough back that you can see there rear tires on the asphalt. This was more necessary with old style longer hoods like the W900. With a small car if you pull up to close to them you could loose site of them. If you forget there in front of you and the light goes green and there dumb ass don’t go, you gonna push them into the intersection. Sloping hoods of todays trucks eliminate that possibility. Just my 2 cents worth. Have fun.

This is a wonderful simulator and I'm hooked. I do like the realistic economy mod, makes buying your first truck a real achievement. Just one thing. FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, SCS PLEASE MAKE THE REVERSING LIGHTS WORK! None of these trucks would be roadworthy in the UK with the non-existant back lights!
@@MikePettGaming Huh! Is that a US thing? On ATS I have been playing a money-cheated profile for long to try out all kinds of trucks. Never cared about the money. But I just started a GDC mod profile, too. Debating wether to start with an old truck, or take the bigger loan.
actual trucker here... if you EVER take a load for less than a dollar a mile... in a CARGO VAN you might as well just hang up your keys.... that truck should be making closer to 4 to 8 a mile... not less than a dollar.... IN NO WORLD...

ATS helped me realize that I want to be a trucker.

i drive straight frame tri axle flat beds. 8LLs are super common for those types of trucks.

Headlight fine, fines when it is still bright daylight out and needs to happen once the sun goes down.
It's the law in the US that if a commercial truck is operating on the job, the running lights and headlights must be on.
These american trucks are so much cooler than the boring ones we have in Europe.

I wish you had to be a bit more careful with load choices. IE overweight for the truck capacity when it comes to terrain and weigh stations..

ALWAYS give in the ingame experience a try. Love the way the game is vanilla. Definitely give that a go first before adding ANY mods!
