For Chris to say OLAJUWON is a disappointment is the most nonsensical thing I've seen yet. If Hakeem has Kareem magic or Jordan or Duncan's supporting cast in his prime he wins 5 RINGS MINIMUM. there's no one on EARTH who thinks dream is LESS GREAT than the consensus top 5.
If wemby has dreams career he's succeeded
@@IknowMoreThanYou bro Hakeem was literally Shaquille O’Neal‘s rival basically and if he turns out to be Him he’s having a disappointing career. I love the show but these guys are gone absolutely too far it is blasphemous.
Bru trippin...nick is the voice of reason here 😊
@@IknowMoreThanYou agree OLAJUWON IS GOAT . ALSO WILT IS BEST OFFENSUVE AND DEFENSIVE PLAYER FROM DAY 1 HE WON ROTY & MVP IN 1ST SEASON
Ben Simmons was touted as LeBron part 2, Zion was hailed a top 25 player in the NBA while still at Duke, and people had Lonzo Ball becoming the next Magic. Calm down with the expectations and let the kid play first.
This. Just to add Jokic was 41st pick and now is 2 time MVP. NBA is so unpredictable when it comes to talent it's very unfair to put so much pressure on kids like Wemby. Give him as much time as he needs, stop with those stupid time frames and just enjoy the show
Andrew Wiggins too
Greg Odin was suposed to be the man as well but injuries ended that hype train
@@rickymuniz6716 jabari parker too. Him and Wiggins was supposed to be the next Kobe lol

I expect Victor to go 82-0 in the 1st year and score 101 points in his 1st game minimum😂
bruh can you imagine this dude in pick-and-roll situations?? Unstoppable!!
Duh
That’s if he doesn’t get injured
And even then…that’s a failure
😂
Hakeem was picked in the draft ahead of Jordan and NO ONE goes back and says what a mistake that was so if having Hakeem's career would be considered a disappointment, then the expectations are just too high.
If Hakeems a disappointment, then people have truly lost their mind.
Exactly.

Nick is so right about the expectations, we put way too much on these young guys before they even play a game in the league.
Yeah, Nick is 100% right... People don't even know Wemby's game, but are talking crazy like this smh Broussard was talking about some stats comparison between him and Luka and doesn't even know that Luka played in a much tougher league and with much better players on his own team, meaning that he wasn't the focal point of the offense... And Brou then said "It's the Euroleague"... Wemby doesn't play in the Euroleague lol
When they fail to meet expectations they are deemed busts. Kwame Brown was right. Enjoy the show.

Okay, that was funny😂
Wildes is funny, but without substance.
@@abiyu5607 I disagree but I’m not going to tell ya how to feel ✌️
Nick’s right on this one. These expectations are way too high
Yea that’s ridiculous. To put the man’s floor at Tim Duncan or Shaq is absolutely absurd. Dude hasn’t touched an NBA floor yet and people are expecting him to be a 2 time MVP with 5 chips or better?!?! Like come on now.
If this dude doesn’t become a Superstar, he is going to catch hate from the media worse than what Kwame Brown got.
They put all that expectation on an 18-year-old kid where they expect him to end up on the Mt Rushmore and then media will look for any opportunity to tear this kid down. There will be many who will defend him and to balance that out there will be just as many who would be waiting to pounce on him and sling mud on his name for every little stumble, misstep and failure.
I understand that talking about the sport and creating narratives and stories is big part of what keeps the business rolling and generate interest among the fans, but 24/7 media scrutiny in the internet age is just suffocating. Wish this kid all the luck and health, may he realize his potential.
"if he's Anthony Davis, he's a Disappointment". Legitimately, NBA media are so toxic. So disappointed in these takes. How could being an all great with a championship be a disappointment for any player? Disgusting.
But its true. Anthony davis couldn't do anything in new orleans until he quit his way out if town and won a mickey mouse ring with bron. And he shouldn't be a top 75 player over dwight howard
@@OMW2FYB1010 what makes it a mickey mouse ring? the rest of the league didn't play or what?

Agreed. These expectations are asinine. Let's just see if he can impact winning a game first
Yep, and because he went to the Spurs who has had the Admiral and Duncan, people are going to expect Wembanyama to be exactly that or better. I understand LeBron’s face was on magazine’s as “The Chosen One.” But this dude might have the highest expectations ever for any player in any sport.
Broussard talking crazy 😂😂😂
I’m starting to realize he’s just as dumb as the rest🤦♂️
Broussard has lost his mind
You sure???
Raise you up, only to tear you down later. Hope he succeeds

I think people forget how insane the expectations were for Andrew Wiggins. He was averaging 20 PPG and was considered a bust.
Idk he was hyped up a lot but by the time draft season hit, Embiid was getting talks about being picked 1st ahead of him and then he got hurt
If you’re the first overall pick you have to have at least a few all star appearances by year 4-5. That’s why Wiggins was being hated on
@@jeffmiles4356 His hype definitely fell off a little bit after his year in Kansas, but while he was in high school it was right there with Zion. I was also like 13 at the time so I probably don’t have the best context, but I do remember him being the most hyped prospect of my childhood
@@jeffmiles4356 Rusty Buckets did a great video talking about the hype surrounding him and how it probably hurt his career though. It’s a good watch
@@Treasuure Oh yea I for sure agree with the criticism. The guy was supposed to be “Maple Jordan”💀
They tried saying the same thing about Anthony Davis and look at him he can't stay together or complete a whole season
Nick had a great point. Brou said all the other guys lived up to expectations. But fails to mention al the guys who didn't live up to the hype.
I can’t believe it, but I’m agreeing with Nick here. If he’s only as good as Hakeem Olajuwon, he’s a bust? I have Hakeem #12 in my all time list, right behind Bill Russell! That’s a bust??? The expectations are RIDICULOUSLY high. I don’t care how great you are, it takes a certain amount of luck too. Your body has to hold up. You have to get the right team/GM/Coach combination. You hope you get good teammates. Think about it, David Robinson got his two rings because he got injured one year, the Spurs were terrible and they got Tim Duncan. He doesn’t get hurt, they don’t get Timmy, he doesn’t win his rings and he’s thought of differently. Luck plays a part in all of this.
For once I agree with Nick. The level of expectations is bonkers. That said, I like him being in Spurs when facing these expectations. Pop & co. know how to tone things down and handle the media, and are proven to know how to make top talents flourish.
Wtf, how are you giving this man soooooo much expections
Have you watched this kid play? Also they have been doing this forever😭 lebron was interviewed and asked first ballot hall of fame or bust before he even entered the league
Watch him play and you’ll understand
@@rsgomlftw skill or not, he hasn’t stepped a foot into the NBA. At this point if he doesn’t win more then 3 championships, he’s a bust. Do you seriously think that if this man comes and plays, gets say 2 chips, an mvp, and 2 finals mvp, he’s a bust?
@@rsgomlftw watch him play? Has he played against AD yet? Embiid? Joker? Gobert? KAT? Man hasn't stepped foot in the NBA yet lmao
@@TayyDayLuka had hype from just the euro league and his game translated almost immediately lol
Nick is right. It’s not fair for someone this young to have that much thrown on them. Imagine being top 15 all time, winning a few rings and being called a bust… that’s just nuts.
Ralph Sampson is the closest comparison to Wembanyama in terms of height/size and play-style. Sampson was a 3x college player of the year. He could run the floor and pass. He made it on the Sports Illustrated cover 6x while in college. People were expecting him to score like Wilt and win championships like Russell, but that was not the case. While he did have a good start to his career, injuries ultimately derailed his promising career. Like it has been mentioned before plenty of times, usually basketball players over 7'3" almost always suffer lower leg injuries.
That’s insane to put that kind of pressure on a kid. I think he’ll be great but he’s not a disappointment if he’s not Kobe, MJ or Bron. Let’s enjoy these guys
They were literally calling zion the next Lebron 😂look how that turned out
Media is like If he doesn’t win the title on day 1, he’ll be a disappointment
RIGHT????
Who came in with those expectations? This is the most hindsight argument i've ever heard. In the last 25 years we've had next "MJs", some "Shaqs", some "Kobes", some "Lebrons"... But to discuss it now, like they didnt have all that noise, after they failed is insane.
It is true this is the 'greatest prospect in history’ because this is the following of the natural evolution of the game. He is an extremly tall, athletic guy, that can handle the ball, pass and shoot (at the level we have seen him play against). He of course has the most potential the NBA has ever seen, we now need to see what his celling, adaptation to the NBA rhythm and injury luck is.
andrew wiggins…
Broussard has no idea about European basketball
Great point about LeBron. He has exceeded expectations but they still skewered our perception of his success. I'm just happy for Wemby. Imagine if he had gone to Detroit to fail...

None of that means he’ll turn out or stay healthy, but in terms of sheer potential he has the most ever.
7 foot 4. He shoots 27.5 % from three. Just because you play like a guard doesn’t mean you should. And he only averages 10 rebounds per game in a French league and 21 points.

SA knew what they were doing when they let go of Dejuante Murray. they’ll also most likely have a top 10 pick next season, have a stable coaching system, not to mention they can attract free agents to pair with Vic. Best situation you can ask for.
Agree with everything except attracting free agents. Not many players want to live in SA and hard coached by Pop.

It’s impossible for Broussard to bring up a topic about great NBA players without throwing Jordan into it. Jordan didn’t have insane expectations like a LeBron, Kareem or Magic did. But of course Broussard has to include him in it 🙄
Saying a prospect who has never played an NBA game has to be a top 15 player to live up to expectations is absurd on its face. A HOF career is good enough for any player and if you don’t think so your expectations are delirious. From there it’s about trying to beat expectations.
I agree
Especially when he didn’t even dominate in Europe
Is it still absurd? Pessimism isn’t always smart, it’s a case by case thing
I agree with Wildes, that was an A+ debate. I was on the edge of my seat 😂😂
This guy will be lucky to score 20 ppg and not get injured most of the season
Nah you tripping, he’s averaging more than 20 ppg in Europe, he’s going for 28 ppg in the nba

uh really ? this one didn't age well
I've stopped hyping these guys up till I see them play in the NBA, hope it works out for him though

Unfair comparison on Duncan. Robinson barely played the previous season so the Spurs basically got 2 HOF’ers added to their roster between those two seasons.
I want to see Lakers Spurs game 1 next season opener.
Wembanyama will dunk on 39yo LeBron :(
Nah we need Luka vs Wemby
I don't think I've ever agreed with Nick so much on a basketball take
I love this show partially cuz Nick is always prepared and has heard the takes of KOC, Zach Lowe, Bill Simmons, big brother cowherd or the tnt crew and brings them into the show in addition to everything else
I need a documentary of 45 min explaining how this guy's body works, I've seen like 5 clips of him doing nothing risky and i feel he is gonna break something everything he explodes to any direction, i don't get it. I hope he is healthy and gives awesome highlights every game
Lebron was called The Chosen One before he entered the league and his highschool games were on Pay Per View. He’s lived up to the hype. They should be careful though because they did this with Zion and look at his career so far. Players who are above seven feet and thin are at a high risk for injury. If he doesn’t get hurt he’ll be amazing.
Charles had a perfect comment about victor, he said we can't conclude if he would be great in the nba because nba players play way differently, the intensity, the big stage, the physicality, he also said that the only person he knew that was so ready for nba and had exceeded people's expectations is lebron. The rest are either a bust or just underperformed.. I wish wemby all the best though.
reasonable expectation - 15 ppg rookie year before shattering his knee and he is never the same again. gets traded around for a few years averaging 9 points 9 rebounds until another injury cuts his career short at age 28
The hype is deserved because we don't often see prospects that are 7'5 with the skillset, coordination and athletic grace he possesses. Therefore, his potential is unlimited if everything goes according to plan. But, how often do we see things go according to plan?
Brou is talking nonsense.
As usual...media overhyping a rookie before he sets foot on an NBA floor.
He’s going to be unstoppable on NBA 2k
Saying Wemby has to be a top 10 player of all time or he’s a bust is INSANE
Finally the player we all used to create on 2K is in the NBA
Broussard sounds crazy! Of course those expectations are too high.
I agree with nick, the expectations are unfair. To say if he's not top 5 when its all said and done when he has yet to play in the league is insane.
Victors going to play 83 regular season games in his first season.
and average 49 minutes a game
i agree with nick that the expectations are unfair, however there's some part of these greatest ever guys that is driven by expectations.
And then when he doesn't live up to the standards THEY have set, they lambast him.
No hakeem on that top #1 pick list is crazy

If wembanyama becomes comparable to Hakeem or KD then he would meet all expectations
The media is so irresponsible with these galactic takes. Kid is the best prospect in years, but prospects are just that until they prove otherwise. All this hyperbolic “best ever of all time omg” stuff is just going to hurt when the kid is playing excellent but realistic basketball
Brou’s take is surprising. He’s usually pretty level headed. There have probably been dozens of “the next Jordon” prospects that have not turned out to be successful.

It's terrible what the media is doing to this kid. The good thing is he is going to Spurs where the media, even with Wembanyama, isn't going to be a constant topic of discussion and the kid seems to have a solid head on his shoulders. But shame on these execs and the media for pushing this insane amount of hype. Let the kid play, we will see how great he can be.

The expectations on this kid are absurd. He's only 19, I get that he's a generational prospect but we need to slow down on all the Lebron, Kareem, KD, Jordan, or whatever other comparisons people are throwing out there. Dude has the potential to be there one day but now people are acting like if he's not putting up 25/10/4 with like 2 blocks as a rookie then he's already a bust.
He has all the tools. The deciding factors will be his ability to stay healthy and his drive and dedication.

These expectations are absurd, I’m with Nick
his game is similar to Chet Holmgren who they were pumping up in the last draft.
He’s the greatest prospect ever since 2022!
I agree
No he’s the greatest prospect ever
Wemby is coming into the league as a prospect of being the best in the league in a few years. LeBron was coming into the league as a GOAT prospect. It's different
I believe that Victor W will undergo load management immediately in his rookie season..They Spurs known for founding this strategy, will be very careful with his health..
I'll consider Wembanyama a success if he makes it through his 1st year without a major injury.
Seems to me everyone is so hypnotized by the hype they're ignoring what history has shown us happens to skinny guys like him. He looks to be in great shape. But at 7'4" 225lbs. he's not gonna be strong enough to physically cope with the contact that happens in NBA games.
I 100% agree

So inaccurate by Chris. Luka avg. 16 pts in Euroleague, Victor avg. 21 pts in French national league and his team is no near Euroleague.
Nick was right, it’s incredibly unfair to set these types of expectations on the dude, and he was absolutely right about the LeBron point
Not gonna lie. This seems like some of the media setting up to crush this kid. Just let him get here and let’s see what he is. People are placing these expectations on him. He’s not doing it to himself. Let’s see how he adjusts to the NBA. Let’s see how his body holds up.
This is absolutely insane. He's a teenager and no one except Kareem ever came in the league close to ready made.
Grant hill was called the next jordan. And honestly it was not impossible if not for injury
Ive been around. The best prospects since ive been born are Kareem, OJ Mayo, Kenny Anderson, Marcus Liberty, Ben Wulsoj, Lebron, Hakeem, Bill Walton and now this guy. He has a body type that will be injured every other week and hes still growing.
I'm with Nick. We don't do these young guys any favors by forcing wild expectations onto them
Glad to see this show finally get the views they deserve
Grant Hill absolutely had those expectations
