- In this data visualization I look at the most-subscribed channels on RUclips since its inception. Some started out with a different name and had a slow start but most of them have kept producing and gaining new subscribers. I did not include the VEVO channels as they would take up all the top spots and we already know music is popular. These stats come from the RUclips Fandom site.

The fact that an elderly man "aka geriatric1927" Got second place for being the most subscribed RUclips channel in Dec 2006, Sadly he passed away in 2014, He will be a legend amongst the community

It's sad that in that youtube slowly became less and less of a platform for creators
Welp, even earlier most top channels were corps. But recommendations are mostly full of content creators and it's still a platform of content creators
RUclips originally wasn't even for "creators", it was just posting home videos and getting famous overnight, not for getting money and make RUclips videos a job.
that is absolutely not the case, youtubers used to get no money for their videos whatsoever and would only make them out of pure passion with no other motive. Now the channels are bigger than ever and there are tons and tons of channels with more than 1M subs that you probably never even heard of. Heck even small channels can earn a good living depending on what they do. What you're saying is essentially like saying you can't become an entrepreneur because there are too many billionnaires

I miss the times when the entire RUclips was fighting for Pewdiepie. You can see the exact moment. When the T Series eas beginning to close in on Pwediepie, almost everyone, Mr Beast, Us, British, European youtubers were all promiting him so that he could keep the throne.

Vanoss really stayed up there until 2018, love his content as a viewer for a long time.
It's sad that before the most subscribed channels were just people in their rooms making low budget, yet still really good content. Now it's just corporations
Fred was the first channel to his 1 Million subs, not NigaHiga. Also, NigaHiga was the most subscribed channel (not Mr. Bean) from August 20, 2009, to June 28, 2011, when he was passed by Ray William Johnson who was #1 until January 12, 2013. I'm fairly confident Mr. Bean was never the most subscribed channel on RUclips.

Dude, this brought back so many memories of old RUclips battles, seeing smosh and Fred and Jenna Marbles up there in the early days brought back so many memories from when they were at their peak
I find it so interesting/cool that younger generations get nostalgic about youtubers. RUclips still feels like a relatively new thing to me. Its pretty awesome that you were able to grow up in a world where you could connect with your role models on a platform like this. See them on livestreams and even chat with them in the comments. I wish I had that growing up, especially on mobile
I get nostalgic about flashplayer sites like newgrounds and ebaumsworld. And when i say nostalgia, I mean PTSD and trauma lol

Great video! But I see some problems with this visualization. NCS is not supposed be leading in November 2012 - July 2013, actually, NCS never lead and in 2012 they had only 220k subscribers. I'm labeling this as a minor problem but this could be huge it depends. Also, Mr. Bean never lead aswell but that's all and I am 1 year late

I was suprised to not se SxE Phil on there in like the 2008 timeframe. Also this video didn't have any VEVO channels in it, maybe they were omitted? or the vevo channels just never garnered many subscribers
