Thanks again for your input and putting together such an informative video! I ended up picking up a set of Liquid Metal Atom 14" 5.5 steel wheels with 35mm offset and Falcon Sincera 165 /65 R14, both from Discount Tire. They fit perfectly, no rubbing with stock height and the ride is so much smoother.
I just picked up an Acty (love it) and found your channel, this is seriously the best video out there discussing wheel/tire options. Now I'm on the hunt for '92 DX wheels, thanks!
Can you please tell me where you got te37s 14x5, the first wheels you showed on the truck, those are the kind of been looking for but can’t find them anywhere
I can tell you Ron that your time and effort’s are appreciated.there seems to be more options for Honda. A lift kit would change the selection I guess. I mean this in a genuine way you have a sweetie daughter that’s not camera shy and gets out there with Dad…..awesome I’ve subscribed as im looking to buy a Honda acty All the best and thanks..New Zealand
Just to help others, I had 165/60 fitted to 14x5.5 +42 rims today and all is very good. I did buy centric rings for 56.1 to 61.1 but really they weren’t needed. Hope it helps you guys
I just got wheels off a 99 civic, no idea what they are, they fit with a5mm spacer but I don’t have many threads left on the studs so I’m not going to run them until I get longer studs. Question is about stud specs, do you know what they are so I can try to find some here in Aus? Love your work man, super clear and informative.
Hey Kieran! Thanks for the view and feedback. Yeah, wheel stud is M12 x 1.50. Pretty common Honda Thread and Size. As far as length, all depends on whether or not you are using spacers. Most people buy ARP studs but they can be unnecessarily long. Sometimes you can find OEM Honda studs from a different model that are just slightly longer.
Great video! I just got a 93 Suzuki dump and am looking for 14's to get it off the ground a little bit...lol. I would have preferred an Acty, I love Honda, but this Suzuki has 4200 miles on it, and looks brand new. I couldn't pass it up. Now, after all that. How much of your Acty info would apply to my sweet ride?
Hello Ron, I Just purchased a set of OZ rims with 185/60 R14 82H What size spacer with lug extension do you recommend. Love your Videos, you've helped me out a bunch.
Ron, Enjoyed this video. Weighing tracks v larger thies for floatation. Looking at UTV wherls/tires. Most likely will need 1" wheel adapters/spacers. I am leaning towards 14" x 7" wheels. I want to approach 26" diameter tires with a tire cross section of 255mm +/-. It appears with prooer offset/spacer combo the larger diameter van be moved away from the axial centerline of the Acty. My concerns are not so much with inside wheel/tire contact with suspension but tire contact with fender. Any experience with this.
Unfortunately no experience with some wheels/offset of that size. The biggest wheel diameter Ive been told is 23.5” to not rub the inside well at stock height. Anything other than that I have no tried or confirmed.
What are your thoughts on going with alloy or steel wheels? I've found both in 14" x 5.5 and I'm wondering if one offers a better ride quality on the Acty. Thanks in advance for your response and thanks for all your great videos!
Hey man! Really dont think youd notice a ride quality difference with steel vs alloy since the trucks are so light. However the weight of the steel wheel will put a minor increased load on the little truck’s 39 hp! Haha.
@@rhd_ron Thanks! According to the specs, the steel wheels are .5lbs heavier than the aluminum ones. I'm leaning to the steel wheels mostly because I like the look a little more.
Not 100% sure, but since these use the same filter as all the other hondas (less the S2000 and NSX), you should be able to fit a sandwich adapter plate made for any Honda really. I've used Moshimoto on my track cars, works well.
Ron your Acty fitment video was very useful! However I am looking a 15x6.5 w/ 35 offset, do you think this would line up without any adapters? I noticed you tried a 15x6" with a 45mm offset which didn't make it. Do you think that extra 10mm would be sufficient to clear the coil?
Hey sorry for the delayed response. If I recall, the front lower control arm ball joints are made into that arm. I haven’t personally looked into this job, just what I have read. If you need help sourcing let me know! Thanks for the comment!
Unfortunately I no longer have a few of those sets of the wheels to weigh them. Bigger the wheel the slower the acceleration, but higher speeds. Heavier the wheel, slower acceleration and higher rolling mass to sustain speeds but will hurt with braking.
2:20 time mark _ Your diagram is correct, but confusing. First of all, it would be extraordinarily helpful to draw the wheel rim, so that the viewer can get a better sense of where exactly the tire sits. Second, the tire spokes should be drawn (reasonably) symmetrical, so that the viewer can more easily recognize what has been drawn. Last, the reference direction to the car would make it easier for the viewer to understand the orientation of the view. I understand wheel offsets, but I had to virtually re-draw your diagram in my head in order to make sense of it. 🤓
Hi Ron, first off thanks for your contents. Very helpful for a new Acty owner. Want to get the sizing right the first time so hopefully you can chime in on some knowledge for me. I see black steeles for sale for relatively cheap for 14x5.5 +43. They're half inch wider than your volks. Do you think these will work? Thank you
Should fit, but tire width may rub the spring on front, MAY. Shouldn’t be any issues on the back. The bronze wheels i installed in the video were 14x5.5 as well but +35mm. So they stick out 8mm more than the +43mm size. Thanks for watching and I hope this helps👍
Ron, do you think a Forceum 185/75r14 with OEM Honda VX 14in wheel (+38 offset) would fit with the addition of a spacer and new 250-275 springs? I'm attempting to get some good all terrain tires without lifting, but I think the Forceum 185/75r14s would be a bit too big at 24.2inches diameter.
From what I understand (but haven't confirmed) a stock right height Acty can fit a 22.5" overall diameter tire without rubbing. Now, the width and profile of the tire may come into play if you are going 185/75. I have 155/55-14s on my truck with no rubbing issues. Its +45mm offset.
@@rhd_ron great thank you. i ended up buying two different wheel tire combos. one off road and one street. newest issue is the street rims dont seem to have enough lug bolt meat left lol
Impressive acty have a better ride height than suzuki carry it's a lot of tire option on size for stock height. On my suzuki carry 4x2 stock height it's little lower than acty i have 2 set of wheel that i put in 155/50 14x5 +45 and 165/50 14x5 +35 the 155 +45 had rubbing with full lock steer on the front wheel well a lot and a little bit on back hitting the chassi and it clear the spring but on 165 +35 i have the same issue and it won't clear the spring so i did switch them i used the +35 rim 155 tire and i don't have clearance issue but i cannot used bigger side wall number if i did that i need a lift kit.
Yeah there is some “finessing” to make some of these fit without lifting. Tire sidewall height and tire width are things to consider on TOP of offset. Three huge parameters that can impact what fits. Overall tire diameter too as a fourth independent variable🤯
I got wheels that have a lug pattern of 4x101.6. they seem to be pretty centered. Its 2wd so theres no place for centric rings to help. Got a bad wobble at 40 mph. been told torsion bushings and or center link. any insight?
