    I have a set of those grey Pitt pens and they are lovely, it's I believe four of each warm and cool. Great fun for tonal studies, or underpainting/grisaille.. they do require a bit of practice as they can go on very strong. They also blend and layer well once you get the hang of them. Honestly I get the most use out of the lighter ones as they layer so well to build depth. They don't budge under water. Another mixed media tool I really enjoy are pastel pencils. They are much softer than regular colored pencils and you can smudge them with a finger. They are great for highlights... I have a selection of light colors for light colored branches, grasses, wood texture, etc..... and a few brights for things like street lights, flowers in a bush, etc. They are outstanding for reflections in water or glass because they pop but give that lovely "smear" when blended. I wouldn't suggest buying a set, the colors you really use a lot aren't often included. Pick and choose from open stock if you can.

    Lovely work and nice technique. I have just started experimenting with watercolours and mixed media such as line & wash, watercoloure pencils, gouache, granulation medium and I have even done my first painting on black watercolour paper using metallic paints :-)

    This is lovely, I liked the look of it when it popped up in my email inbox, especially as the under drawing was done in ink. It was interesting what you had to say about colour pencils in connection with watercolour, I always like to hear of your insights re materials gained with all your years of experience , it’s one of the bonus’s of belonging to your patreon

    Coloured pencils are fantastic for picking out a few details in a watercolour painting. I just recently started doing it myself, and found them to be perfect for adding those little finishing touches. I think your little painting is lovely. Thankyou😊

    Lovely little painting.
    One observation I have is that the stone pathway to the gate is too clean; it needs a few dark-coloured strokes here and there on the actual stone slabs to weather them up a bit.

    0.3 or 0.5 mm lead which is better?

    • @waymire01
      @waymire01 2 года назад

      I use several different sizes and hard/soft. They all do different things. I find the smaller the lead the more hard it is even in the same rating (H, HB, 2B, etc)
