This is outstanding. Seeing these Mopar's takes me back to my childhood at southern Michigan raceways where both my parents raced a 65 Coronet 500 and the family Road Runner.
I have a 68 Barracuda fastback that currently has a 1970 casting 340 in it. It has the full original interior and is not cut up. It's B5 blue with a matching blue interior. It's vin states that it was the 364th Plymouth made in 1968. I love watching these other Barracudas run, but I will never make my car into one of them. There are virtually none of them on the street. It's such a rare car that people get out their phones and take pictures of it everywhere I drive it. My car is educating young people who otherwise would never know these cars existed.
I always look forward to the coverage of this event; some of baddest cars ever. I was rooting for Bucky, but that's racing. BTW Tuki's paintwork absolutely kills.

Don Garlits' swamp rats had" Dodge" painted on them, but Garlts said there's no such thing as a "Dodge" hemi engine. It was put on there to promote the Dodge performance cars. The hemi engine in today's T/F dragsters are not Chrysler per se , but are a Chrysler design hemi head.

Spoke to him in 84 about my 69 road runner i was running low 11s he asked me what i was shifting at he told me shift at 6000, not 6500, picked up a tenth, also told me if i wanted to run 10s. 4.88s ladder bars and coilovers, and 14x32s ... I did same mptor i went a best of 10.69 at 124.7 .. thing was a beast on a pro tree. 6000 rpm launched.. THANKS HERB!, BACK in 1984. Never got a 60ft time on it..

@@colinmunro7337 I have a 68 cud’s with a .030 440 and have Indy cylinder head 440-1 on it and the best I can get is a 9.21@ 138. Those hemis must be over 500 ci and you can’t get in the 8.40s with a 426 ci… it’s Josh impossible

@@colinmunro7337 you can have the biggest cylinder head flowing 375cfm but won’t get the full use out of it unless you have big cubic inches or run it 9000rpm to get full use of the flow out of the heads. And I’m correct Colin. How many Hemi’s have you built in your life time? I been doing t for 19 years. I don’t care how much cash you throw at the motor, if you don’t have the cubics inch’s, you don’t get the full use out of the head because of it being a smaller cubic inch. You can have a 7k bottom end in it and it won’t make it run 8.50s

Hemi headed engines have been used by Fiat, Peugeot, Pipe, Stutz, Daimler and Riley as early as 1905. Decades before Chrysler adopted the technology. Or was even a car company. As early as the '60's, Keith Black developed a hemi headed solid aluminum block. The cast iron Chrysler block could not withstand the stress and pressures needed at the time.
Say what? The Hemi was banned in 65. By Ford and GM. I just checked and I didnt see the pinicle of super stock with either of those two motors. The A class is all Chysler hemi...

If they were banned in nascar why didnt they just move over to the strip and try to dominate? They couldnt out run the 426 in ANY competitive form of racing including marine.....
