I come back to this video religiously, such a great tone and very clean playing! A Call of Ktulu cover would be interesting after hearing your short jam of it
With my Rickenbacker 4003 I use a boss compression, sustain pedal with a big muff into a Morley power fuzz wah ...... The sound I get is pretty close but your set up sounds even better!!!
The ts9 should give you close to rtl tone, as long as you carefully set it, as I’ve found too aggressive settings sort of ruins the tone. They’re both great pedals to have imo
I love Rob / I really do - was a big fan from Suicidal times ... great guy and great bass player. But he uses a very different tone on the distorted parts - I mean live, when they play old songs, the tone from death magnetic onwards is awesome! I just wish he had a more similar tone to Cliff when he plays his parts.
@@MadiUk77 I agree. I'm sure it's intentional. I think he wants to perform the Burton solos live with his own style. I'm sure if he could he would copy it very closely, but I guess out of respect for Cliff he doesn't want to seem like he's straight copying him... (a bit like me lol)

Cliff installed a guitar pickup in the bridge position of his Rickenbacker. The Aria, used on the Ride the Lightning tour and MoP had either the stock pickups or EMG’s, but the EMG’s may have been stock idk
I do plan on doing more Cliff tone vids in the future, and that is a sick solo so could cover it eventually. Looking to get a bit better gear set up until then though

The ts9 should give you close to rtl tone, as long as you carefully set it, as I’ve found too aggressive settings sort of ruins the tone. They’re both great pedals to have imo
Really good but you don’t need all that distortion. The Ts9 and boost alone should be enough
