6:00 Everyone in the theaters cheered when Elijah Wood made his appearance once again as Frodo. Also, when Saruman appeared, there was a kid that actually yelled, "Get him Gandalf!" which made us laugh so hard.

@11:19 this scene was invented for the movie and serves as the "nudge" Gandalf mentions to Frodo during their first scene in The Fellowship of the Ring. "If you're referring to the business with the dragon, I was barely involved. All I did was give your uncle a little nudge out of the door." In the book, The Hobbit, Gandalf literally did nudge Bilbo out the door to catch up with the dwarves. When they were busy adapting the book into screenplay form, they decided to have Gandalf give Bilbo a metaphorical nudge instead so that Bilbo then makes up his own mind to go after the dwarves the next morning. A stronger character moment for him.

Tomboy and Girlygirl are taking the hobbits to Isengard 😂Your intros keep getting better and better, love to see it!
The intro is so good, hearing Bilbo narrate what happened to Dale, Erebor, how the greed of the dwarves eventually led to the rift between them and elves which was followed by the appearance of Smaug and the refusal to help of the elves. The best part about this - how it blends perfectly with the exact way the book starts "In a hole in the ground, there lived a hobbit..."
It's so heartwarming, seeing how much time Gandalf spent amongst the hobbits, seeing a young Bilbo, recruiting him for an adventure, participating at his last birthday party. His words to Galadriel - "Why Bilbo Baggins? Perhaps because I'm afraid and he gives me courage" - this all shows just how human he is, how important the little (pun intended) things in life are.
Poor Bilbo - pantry emptied of food, dishes flying, the prospect of death by dragon fire - no wonder his nerves gave up on him 😂
12:58 A lot of people would pay good money to see you riding a pony, Magy 😂 the memes would write themselves!
    14:42 Dwarves are bulgarian confirmed!
What a terrifying introduction to Azog and how well that scene explains Thorin's hate for the orcs.
Albeit a bit goofy, you can see how much Radagast cares about the animals, how he tries everything to save Sebastian and how he is the first to discover the threat coming from Dol Guldur.
Bilbo tried stalling the trolls in such hilarious ways but it also showed just how less receptive to subtleties the dwarves are. Until Thorin gave the signal, they were very much clueless.
Their stay in Riveldell was so funny, always acting up, annoying the elves, acting like a wild bunch. It also showed how well Bilbo got along with Elrond, the invite to stay there being extended very early into his life.
25:31 Laura is being extra sussy, simping for Azog 😂
Getting to see Galadriel and Saruman once more was a welcome surprise. Galadriel having a conversation with Gandalf telepathically while Saruman was just yapping in the background - it's funny but it also shows just how powerful she is.
Gollum is just as creepy/funny as he was in the LotR trilogy, this time with a panicked Bilbo as his partner on screen.
Gandalf's call to battle, the escape from Goblin-town - these scenes keep your eyes glued to the screen! This sequence also features one of the best scenes in the movie, Bilbo deciding to spare Gollum's lif when he could've easily killed him. Such an important lesson that Gandalf taught him now pays off.
Bilbo's reason to help the dwarves is so simple and yet so powerful at the same time - he knows exactly how much he loves and misses his home so naturally he would do anything for his newfound friends, to help them get their version of home back. A pure heart is often times worth so much more than experience in battle or in stealing things.
The eagles are back to save the day once again! Thorin gave everyone a scare back there, with how badly he was beaten by Azog on his warg.
43:30 They sure do, Magy, they sure do! Bilbo certainly found his courage when needed the most, defending an unconscious Thorin.
44:38 Laura, go to horny jail! 😂
Thorin finally accepting Bilbo, apologizing for doubting him - such a heartwarming moment, seeing the beginning of their friendship.
46:36 You knew it was coming and your soul still jumped out of your body 😂 Magy during school mornings, just like Smaug!
You didn't spoil at all, Magy, don't worry about it. Excellent job on that front, as always, proud of you!
Thank you for this epic reaction ❤

In The Fellowship of the Ring, when the fellowship entered Moria, they found Balin's tomb. The book Gandalf was reading was Ori's, I believe. Oin died there as well. Also in the Fellowship, the Hobbits came across the stone trolls and Sam commented about Mr. Bilbo's trolls. The Hobbit movies are expanded from the book, The Hobbit, which was written as a children's book. The book was less than 400 pages, so there is a lot in here that wasn't in the book, and they have extended out scenes, etc.

Fuller story With a certain clan of dwarves: A giant set of events throughout the ages caused a huge rift between dwarves & elves since before any elf saw actual Dwarves. Elves are the firstborn. Men are the secondborn. Dwarvish forefathers were created by the hands of one of the Valar named Aulë, then essentially Eru Îlluvatar(AllFather) breathed life into them to later wake up at a later date since Aulë was still excited to create things of his very own. It’s also why dwarves overall can resist the rings power and so forth.
There were these beings became known as Petty Dwarves in the books where these beings were super hostile and the elves thought it was just another spawn of Melkor (now Morgoth) so when they finally did see actual dwarves they killed them on site. Back then they thought these “petter dwarves” as we call them to be other machinations of Morgoth seeing as how he and Mairon>Gorthaur>Sauron have been terrorizing the land and permeating shadows living nightmares throughout the land for thousands of years….
That and dwarves were keen on chopping down trees by huge amounts so you can kind of see why… but this was only the beginning. But it’s not a very good start. Buuut not all dwarvish clans share this rift as the creator of the 16 rings was an elf named Celebrimbor and is one of the best characters ever. His main smithery guild in Eregion was full of dwarves and elves called the “Gwaith Ír Mirdain”. Even Gimli’s father was really close to a certain elf I won’t name yet! ❤
Not all dwarves were enemies to elves. Galadriel and her brother were best friends with dwarves. Famously the fortress of Nargothrond was built by Finrod Felagund with the dwarves! It was only a certain clan that killed Elu Thingol! (Elwë)
Galadriel & her elder brother Finrod Felagund were best friends with the dwarves. Finrod was named Felagund by the dwarves meaning “Earth Hewer” from the fact he helped them build the great fortress called Nargothrond of which he was the elven lord that ruled there justly. Was the same for Celebrimbor and the dwarves of Eregion especially the guild called Gwaith Í Mirdain. His bestie was Narvi the dwarf. Narvi and Celebrimbor created the doors of Moria. Moria is also the elvish name for Khazad Dûm. This gift for Gimli set it into imperishable Crystal and would be the only thing left in middle earth that holds the light of the two trees of Valinor (Valanor by the Eldar). It’s basically the uncursed version of the Nauglamir. He named it The Galadramir. ❤
     If you search for
'victorian hair art' then you can see what amazing things people created with hair in the past. Craftsmen as dwarfs were, I imagine that Gimli must have created something beyond exquisite!
Gimli attacking the ring shows it has no hold over him just like the Dwarvish rings out of the 16 meant to go to the elves had no hold over them. So technically they could easily be used offensively and defensively but many disappeared over the ages mainly due to Sauron collecting them back again over the last few thousand years. One or two eaten by dragons (not simple minded beasts here. They were twisted and enhanced beings by Melkor/Morgoth(Saurons Upperclassman as far as the Ainur face goes.).
There were only a few of them and their offspring are lesser drakes throughout middle earth. Most recent one you’ll see in The Hobbit movie and one other most recent dragon left of the originally created dragons was Scatha, of which I don’t think Scatha even has wings or could fly in any permanent sort of way.
“Evil cannot create. Only twist and warp what is already natural to the world”

The song that Bofur sings is Man in the Moon, which actually is from The Fellowship of the Ring book in the chapter At the Sign of the Pranicing Pony, when Pippin almost spoke out about Bilbo's party, Frodo distracted the people of the inn by singing this very song, which Bilbo had made up and taught it to Frodo, while dancing on the table (which causes him to accedently put on The Ring, which was changed in the movie to make it more dramatic and they didn't have the time to rehearse the song). According to Philipa Boyens, one of the script writers, the song could either been made up by Bilbo, who taught it to Bofur or the other way around (personally, I go for the former to be more true to the books).

  • @mevb
    @mevb 5 месяцев назад

The mark that Gandalf leaves on Bilbo's door is the elvish rune for the letter G, which of course stands for Gandalf (which he used often). In the book it's a different mark, it's actually three symbols which is M in Cirth (rune) meaning Burglar, Nd or Nj meaning Danger and a diamond symbol meaning Reward. Gloin summerize it in the book as: "Burglar wants a good job, plenty of Excitement and reasonable Reward".

The headbutt that Dwalin and Balin did was a reference to The Lord of the RIngs shoot when Viggo Mortensen (Aragorn) used to headbutt people as a jokish way to greet his fellow actors and stunt people (he even convinced stunt guy and Sauron actor, Sala Baker to headbutt Orlando Bloom, which caused him to see a white light for a moment), especially at his last day of shooting on the pickups for The Return of the King.

These movies were a nice welcome back to Middle Earth after LOTR ended many years earlier. I'd say they are very well done and have their own place as a trilogy. I especially enjoyed the first two. Smaug was an awesome character in part 2. That said, you can't help but feel the stakes are lesser in this trilogy than in LOTR. That alone makes it feel smaller as a whole than LOTR did. Though that's about it. If you put that aside, you're in for a very fine trilogy that has some great scenes and pieces that rightfully earn their spot in Middle Earth.

as fearsome as Smaug is made out to be, I'm just glad Ancalagon the Black didn't survive to the Third Age. I don't know much about the dragon but he would've made Smaug look small by comparison in both colossal size and possibly power. this next question is for any lotr fans. isn't Morgoth - creator/inventor of the dragons - technically still alive, just imprisoned?

    • @WJS774
      @WJS774 5 месяцев назад

"Small" is an understatement, Ancalagon would have made _the mountain_ look small. As for Morgoth, he was defeated in the War of Wrath at the end of the First Age, a conflict so great that an entire continent was destroyed as collateral damage. After his defeat he was forced through the Door of Night into the Timeless Void outside of existence itself. That's as close as you can get to death for an immortal.

Yes indeed LoTR is a masterpiece & one of the greatest trilogies ever committed to film. The Hobbit is a classic book & great story by the same author so comparisons are inevitable. Both trilogies were done by the same film maker but it’s hard to make a fair comparison. LoTR is 3 books into 3 films whereas the Hobbit is a single book stretched into 3 films. This is why I think it doesn’t hold up as well as LoTR. It’s like Bilbo said: “like not enough butter spread over toast.” So it is unfair to compare them. LoTR is a masterpiece while The Hobbit is just a very good & enjoyable trilogy. The Hobbit is good in its own right judged by itself & is better than many if not most recent stuff.

sorry for the delay but I was only able to comment now, I confirm what Laura said: I like the Hobbit more than the Lord of the Rings, because you already know the characters, Middle Earth seems a little more extensive, Erebor is my favorite Kingdom of the saga, then I have always liked the story of the Dwarves more than that of the Elves, such a large Kingdom has never been seen in any other film. However, my heart will remain with the second (The Desolation of Smaug) and the third film (The Battle of the Five Armies). I can't wait for those videos to arrive too.

Elves are known as the Fair Folk. And I must say that Magy and Laura both qualify in that regard, they are both very fair(Pretty/Beautiful). So you gilrs can be Elves.

Not in the blood of Baggins. Baggins are the most relaxed and unadventurous of Hobbits. His mother was a Took. Same as Pippin. They are said to have fairy blood too, a sense of adventure.

IDK if people feel the same, I feel the first movie is at LOTR height (Considering the book is also for kids) the other 2 not but, but the first one is 8/10

The Dwarves chest at the beginning held a necklace that Thranduil had made for and gifted to his wife. It was lost when she was taken and killed by Orcs. The Dwarves captured it but refused to give it back to Thranduil.

It's worth metioning that the Hobbit books were originally written as novels for children to read while LOTR was written for adults. Please keep that in mind as you watch the series, it will help you understand Peter Jackson's directorial intention in this adaptation a bit better.

one book, half as long as one of the three in the LOTR trilogy..... so Peter had to take many liberties to fill up the story to drag it out into three even longer movies

Good one, Ladies! These are fun movies. Keep in mind that The Hobbit is a children's book that Tolkien wrote for his own kids. That's why it feels lighter and more silly. It's a fairytale really. After the book proved to be a success, Tolkien decided to write LOTR and turned that into a heroic epic. When PJ & Co. adapted The Hobbit for film they took a lot of liberties with the original book and made The Hobbit movies look and feel more like LOTR which angered many die hard Tolkien fans, but I think the 3 hobbit movies are still a lot of fun. Sometime you two should treat yourselves to the 1977 Rankin & Bass cartoon version of The Hobbit. I think you will enjoy it. Magy, it has wonderful songs! Thanks for sharing this one. 🙂

Now if we are talking the books I'd argue that the hobbit is more enjoyable.

Also, giving free food shipping and percent off amazo products if someone watched their show through their special offers and get two day free shipping! They fit the bill for demographic that Amazon was targeting.
