I'm with Dan. I got sick on coconut when I was six and spent most of my life convinced I was allergic to coconut. I'm probably not, but I still hate it.
i hate the texture its like biting an mx brown. the flavour is okay but the thought of the texture ruins the flavour for me.

i never liked coconut ice cream until i tried tender coconut ice cream in India and WOW. the flavor is so different, and the tiny chunks of coconut are so mildly sweet. idk if its available in the US but i could fuck up an entire pint of that ice cream.@@EmperorSeth

Best I can describe it is a mix between almond extract and citrus. The almond taste is very strong in every one I've had. Although blue moon flavor is very scarce here in my state tho

After getting into matcha ice cream through Japanese restaurants that offer it as a nice after-dinner treat, I gotta agree it's weird that it's not on this list, really good stuff.
Matcha is actually top-tier. Not overly sweet or in your face, just a relaxing green tea flavor that coats your taste buds and doesn’t overstay. EASY A+ or S tier.

It really depends on the type and quality of mint for me. I also prefer dark chocolate too… if it is cheap it’s possibly some of the worst ice cream, but if a good quality and balanced flavors, it’s some of the best on a summers day… it makes sense to me it’s so divisive.

What I’ve noticed in these recent food related tier list episodes is that these boys don’t like super sweet things anymore lol
yeah from what i've seen from many older adults when you get into your late 30's to your 40's your tolerance for sweets starts to go down. idk if there's anything to back it up, just something i've observed on my own
I think it all depends from person to person. I'm 33 and these past few years my tolerance for sweet things has gone down. Its fine for a few bites but after awhile I can't do it. My husband on the other hand is 36 and is a sweet fiend.

I think the problem with cheesecake ice cream is first of all that some people don't like cheesecake that much in general, and secondarily, that some people who like cheesecake want it in its original form. I fall in the latter category, a good cheesecake is delicious, but fake vaguely cheesecakey ice cream is meh.
Everything cheesecake is in my top 3. I am an absolute sl*t for cheesecake and I'm not ashamed.
An ice cream joint in my town actually does sell the "milk flavored" ice cream base. They call it sweet cream. It's delicious and I like it more than vanilla

Blue Moon has an almond extract kind of flavor. Or like...whispers of fruitloops or fruity pebbles kind of. It's light and awesome. Really difficult to describe which made that part even more hilarious.

Lemon is something like 85% ABV. for a frame of reference most hard boozes like vodka or whiskey and such are 30-40 ABV. if i recall right vanilla extracts are around there. on a related note, mouthwash has about 14%.

@@miguelnewmexico8641 so "frozen dessert" means that they don't have enough milk fat content to be called "ice cream" on the label according to the FDA. the milk fat can be replaced with vegetable oil, coconut oil, olive oil, or even margarine fat sometimes! it's basically still ice cream, and it won't hurt you, but the FDA has strict naming conventions about what can and cannot have a certain word on the label based on its ingredients

i don't care what brand it is or even if it's homemade, vanilla is litterally the most bland flavor of ice cream there is. i will take litterally anything else over vanilla (the exception is if i'm going for like a sundae, sundaes are best with vanilla ice cream)

I'm so picky about vanilla flavors lol. the typical ice cream consumer and store brands are far from great, but once you find a really good vanilla flavor in like a local area or homemade, you cling onto that for life!

Dairy Queen had a grape Kool-Aid Blizzard in the early aughts that I was crazy for. I’ve recreated it in the blender a few times at home. Just mix a really thick vanilla milkshake, and then add Kool-Aid powder to taste. The real thing also had grape popping candy in it, which was fine, but I don’t bother with it.

Story time! I work at a Japanese restaurant. Up until a few months ago, the green tea ice cream we had was homemade -- it wasn't that lovely green color, and it tasted like Captain Crunch, strangely enough. I HATED it; the rest of the staff loved it. We got what you and I know as green tea ice cream, and when I told them this was what it was always supposed to taste like, they got SUPER excited... until they actually ate it. I'm not big on the suffering of others, but... that moment was delectable.

So… there actually is vanilla added to most chocolate ice creams 😂. It is absolutely used as an accenting flavor in MOST ice cream so yes, Arin; vanilla is a default flavor :p

When I was a kid, my mom would sometimes make what she called "Purple Cows." She'd take frozen concentrated grape juice, vanilla ice cream, milk, ice, and put them in a blender to make a grape-flavored milkshake. It was delicious. I know it's not "grape ice cream" but I imagine it might taste similar.
Also, it pleases me that they have mint chip as A tier.

Vanilla is a distinct flavor but it is also the default. It's like nacho cheese doritos. There are plain doritos, but nacho cheese flavored are so ubiquitous they've become the default.

24:49 What’s funny about this is that if they tried Blue Moon, they’d be saying the same thing to their brain. First time I tried it, I was like “It’s good! But what’s that flavor?” Then I tried it again a year later and had the same reaction. Low and behold, a ton of people had the same reaction and everyone describes the flavor slightly differently. But it’s just so good😍
For the record, Blue Moon is DEFINITELY NOT blue raspberry or whatever that website Dan found said it was. I always thought of it as a sort of marshmallow-like flavor, which is backed up by the fact that i've seen a ton of places sell Blue Moon with mini marshmallows as a topping. It's like a less sweet, more subtle version of Cotton Candy ice cream. It really is awesome, so you should try it sometime if you see it somewhere. (Just be warned that it tastes different depending on where you get it from, since there's not really a definitive list of ingredients.)
Maybe in the places it tastes different in, that's when they try to make it blue raspberry.
I've only ever had superman and not blue moon alone, but I'd agree with you that blue moon's just generic sweet like marshmallow and doesn't have the blue raspberry tang.
Context is everything I guess though. Like when they said with mango ice cream they'd rather eat a real mango, I'm the opposite. The flavor of a mango is top tier but the texture bothers me so as an ice cream I'll take it over the fruit every time. (And I'm lactose intolerant)

The blue moon ice cream I've had tasted similar to fruit loops (which also have a marshmallow-esque flavor). I would put it in S tier, personally.
The base is almond extract for sure, it's amazing, definitely not gross blue raspberry

I'd never had superman icecream until I moved west and the best way I can describe it is it tastes like what you imagined playdoh would taste like as a kid. it's fruity, but in the muted ice cream kinda way. it tastes like the colours that are in it lmao. it's defo too much. coupled with the fact I never see it sold in stores in anything smaller than a gallon size and it's certainly not a favorite of mine

my husband is right with you! he’s the first person i met that prefers vanilla and i found it SO weird because i’d only ever really had shitty vanilla ice cream, he showed me the good kinds lol
