I like that it somewhat convinced Ray that Puyo might be superior to Tetris, but if you look at the competitive scene, that's pretty far off, lol. I recommend if you get the game, check of some clips of the top Tetris Players in the online area because they are scary good.
There's actually a really dumb reason why this is the first Puyo game in NA for ages. "In 2014, due to the release of Tetris Ultimate granting Ubisoft a Tetris exclusivity contract, ALL other Tetris versions on digital storefronts were discontinued by the end of the year, including the much-acclaimed Gameboy version, which had been re-released on Nintendo 3DS at the time, and almost no other game has been able to get a license to release in the West since." The reason why it released on PS4 and Switch is due to the fact that they only released a physical version on PS4, and the Switch technically doesn't fall under the contract because the Switch wasn't even mentioned when the contract was written so it literally couldn't be included.
I love this game SO much, it's a fantastic game and the story mode is actually a decent challenge if you're not well-versed in both forms of game. Love this one, fantastic all around.
The bar in Tetris shows how much power you have, and how much damage you'll take or prevent once you set down a piece that doesn't clear a line. It'll build up faster the higher your combo is. For example, once you hit a combo of 3, even clearing a single line will help you attack or defend from that point on. Back-to-back Tetris bonuses will be more powerful too, so if you were to get a Tetris twice in a row with nothing between them, you'd fill up the bar by nine instead of eight. I think it's only there during games where one player is playing Tetris while the other is playing Puyo Puyo, though.
