When I was young, I loved Freya because she seemed so cool. Playing it again now I love her strength in facing tragic circumstances and I really wish we could have seen more development in her story in the last chapters of the game. Great version
At least she's still the best damage dealer early in the game. (Gets her Ultimate Weapon in Disk Three, and has an attack that guarantees 9999 damage before that.)
FFIX's characters and their relationships as well as their development are probably the best in any Final Fantasy... they're woven into the story so phenomenally well
To what corners of the world have you travelled? My dear Fratley... I climbed the highest mountains only to hear rumours of your victories... I searched the deepest valleys only to find your footsteps. But I never found you. And in the end, I heard something... something unbearable!"
I feel like this version really emphasizes further what a genuine war hero Freya is, and at such a young age too. And let's always appreciate her unbelievable emotional strength too--she went through so much that would break just about anyone, and even when the worst of it hit her, she kept going. Freya is absolutely perfect in so many ways and I refuse to hear otherwise.
heck yeah, maybe one of the best songs in video game history. actually now that i think about it this composition is on the same level as Bach/Mozart imo
Freya is one of the most interesting Characters in the whole game i think and its impressive how well you have redone her theme. She has so much hurt and still she keeps up her hope and energy to keep going. Freya will never be forgotten by us all!
Thank you for reminding me to stand tall in all walks of life. Freya is the war hero in FF9. Lost happens in life all we can do is remember to stay grateful during adversity and trials.
Absolutely brilliant, listening to a Bard in FF14 play 'Roses of May' sent me on a nostalgia deep dive and I found you - a very fortunate series of events.
My favourite part in both the original and this, is at 1:39 - 1:51 when it changes slightly to how it's been so far in the track. Hits just right and sounds beautiful.
First notes of the flute, I got chills. I love Freya's theme. The steady build from the wistful flute to the bold, noble brass is magnificent. I'd love to see what you could do with Burmecia's theme, the kingdom of eternal rain.
I always imagind Freyas theme as her wandering the world singing. Fratley, my love, where are you? To her lead motif. There are characters in FF series that I loved as a kid, and more that I grew to love as an adult. Freya is probably one of my tops.
I expected the usual generic strings everywhere (most people's understanding of """orchestral"""), while you actually understand that "orchestra" is as many different instruments as you want. You got it.
I'm working on a painfully slow mod for the Steam version of FFIX, right now I'm working on making more HD/better looking background textures for the game. But I was wondering if you'd be alright with my utilizing your orchestral covers of the game music.
@@final3119 Given that it was only recently released, I think this guy may very well be the creator of Moguri's Mod. Especially since it does use the music from Pontus... Time to go download it :D
Did I really wait 3 years to discover this? I always wanted an orchestra version. The only thing i don't like, it's you should let the harpsichord. The piano isn't drama or dark enough flr this song. Love you.
Hi! I am making a Final Fantasy 9 mod, and I would like to use some of your arrangements, like this one of Freya which would fit perfectly for my game. In your information section you explain that these tracks can be used as long as it is not for commercial use, which is my case. So, I assume it is ok to you, right? Do you have a website to download it, apart from the links you provided? Google Play seems to be broken. Thanks!
How did you go about approaching the harpsichord parts to make them more player-friendly? There's like 3 different melodies being played at the same time, but you seem to have arranged it for a single piano.
Oh yeah it sounds great! I was just hoping for some insight into arranging it for something a standard orchestra could play. I've tried to delegate this part to the string section playing pizzicato, but then I'd be without them for the 2nd half of the theme lol.
Jesus, man...you're amazing. I'm not saying that I'm in love with you, all I'm saying is that I'm a dude and I would somehow find a way to have your baby.
@@chrisn.d.p3334 and to be fair, Vivi's story arch is the most complex: it deals with thought questions and heavy themes: the meaning of life and the power of choice. Poor Vivi had the toughest time in FF9
@@Zidane_Mina I totally agree. To be honest with you, FF9 was the first game of the serie I came across... And it was my brother stuck in some random boss (The water snake in that dungeon, you know!). I grew up and became such a fanatic of this serie for everything it holds. And when I played FF9 on my own later on, I felt so sad when I realize what happened to him at the end.... Lil Black Mage means a lot to me.
yeah, I think I get what you mean, the song wants to convey a feeling of restlessness and unfulfilled desire. so there are those neverending rushed background steps, it is beautifully tragic man
Yep setting it to .75 speed sounds better yet worse because it gets distorted like thats the speed it needs to be at. But other than that sounds great.
It is one of the most common critizism I receive - I really need to think about easing off a bit more on the tempo here and there. Thank you for the feedback!

too much imo but i like the production. freya and burmecia should remain understated (2:30 is a nice touch) but i do think this is probably what they'd do in a remake. like it's raining and everyone got their asses kicked, this is too epic - how would this fit with beatrice's fight and sword of doubt?

The girl's an absolute war hero and has gone through hell and back at just 21. She's beyond amazing and deserved so much more screentime. ♥

This song gives me goosebumps. FF IX is such a master piece. I guess it's about time for my annual replay of this game.
Such a magical melody, Nobuo Uematsu really is the Beethoven of video games.
The underlying constant piano really symbolizes her tenacity, almost never stopping. It’s so powerful and fitting.

Absolutely! :)

So good its in the game as 3 different versions
One of the best songs in FF period
Bellissima Da brividi , come quasi tutte le colonne sonore di tutti i final fantasy

Unfortunately Freya was forgotten by the writers though, she didn't get any lines in the second half of the game.
@@jm2270 Yes she did.
Love her, she’s with me always

The drastic change from 2:30 to 3:00 onward... man, hits me right in the feels.
Great work on this!

OMG THX FOR THIS!!!!
You did Freya a justice that she is due. This rendition is perfect. I cried in a taxi listening to this.
that one made me cry. I loved that game, this version of the song is incredible.
If you know about tone and note, Freya's Theme is the best masterpiece by nobuo uematsu
She was a queen. Never forgotten. 😢
This song says everything but there is no words.
That kind of rearrangement makes me love the game even more for some reason, you did a great job there
Song literally makes my heart jump. Such a beautiful song.
Very tragic and yet heroic. Imo the best synergy of sound.
Oh my god the piano part throughout this is to die for!
Oh my God. This is amazing. Very powerful job. My heart is totally full of love. Thanks for that.
One of the song I'd love to hear live at a Distant Worlds the most. It's haunting and eerie. It tears you up. But it's beautiful

This one, sir, is a masterpiece.
I can't get over your incredible orchestrations. Please keep it up!
Imagine a FF9 remake and this is blasting out .
I truly love this game with all my heart.
Una canción muy hermosa, me llena de emoción este tema en su totalidad, me insita a seguir adelante pase lo que pase, pierda lo que pierda.
Incredible, man. You've come such a long way since your earlier orchestrations. (Which were also brilliant!)
Fantastic. I literally have goosebumps
wow INCREDIBLE JOB. Freya's theme sounds incredible in your rendition!!!
this is glorious, well done.
This is so sad and beautiful. You've done amazing with this. Thank you so much for sharing.
Listening to this makes me want a remake ff9 more than ff7! Not only that but a slight more darker with some of the humor Zidane brings.
One of my favorites. Wonderfull work
Fricking awesome job, dude! Keep this FFIX train rolling!! ;)
You didn't have to go that fire with it, had to stop what I was doing to really focus in that last part.
Brings me to tears. Every. Fucking. Time.
Well done, bravo! You do your craft well, you'll create before kings one day with a gift like this.
what a beautiful thing
OMG amazing well done mate!

No low organ notes during the major part kind of kills it for me because the song doesn't progress without it and so the arrangement has been changed when it wouldn't need to be if it was done properly.
This is even superior to Terra's Theme from FFVI. Very similar styles but it is improved with this melody.
reminds me of hollow knight :D
too much imo but i like the production. freya and burmecia should remain understated (2:30 is a nice touch) but i do think this is probably what they'd do in a remake. like it's raining and everyone got their asses kicked, this is too epic - how would this fit with beatrice's fight and sword of doubt?
I think the bigger issue is that literally the only time this theme is heard in-game is at Gizamaluke's Grotto.
It's good but I think it loses something by replacing the original harpsichord with a piano
