    Listening again and I've just noticed that Zoë plays the opening solo in ADAD tuning - suddenly her playing is a lot more fathomable! Impressive bow control and left-hand pizzicato, and a joy to listen to!

      Liam Dundalk in fairness has an abundance of good singers/songwriters/musicians. Zoe is excellent and very joyful.

    Should have had Dónal through an acoustic pickup, with bass slightly boosted -- yeah, bass guitar with it, rounded out

    What stringed instrument is the man playing, and how is it tuned?

    • @joshuadonahue5871
      @joshuadonahue5871 Год назад

      It's called a Bouzouki. I'm not sure about the tuning. Donal Lunny is a legend on the instrument.

    Is there a way to slow it down
    And let the tune breath

    • @erikm8372
      @erikm8372 5 лет назад +1

      Sure if you feel the need. This is a performance by Zoe and co. The first tune is rather Norwegian so thats the pace likely.

    • @reddyandre
      @reddyandre 5 лет назад +1

      @@erikm8372 Quebecois, Reel du Pendu. And yes, that's the pace. She plays it beautifully, though many great fiddlers have their many great takes on it.

    Reel du Pendu- the hanged man's reel. Not very Irish, but very well played :-)

      Reel du pendu is French in name but musically absolutely Irish.

      @Pierre LAÏLY Possibly as Irish and French Canadians came together in a big way in mid 19th century.
