@@CockatooMadness Ah, but do they leave the pips? Apple pips are not good for companion birds, though wild birds maybe can tolerate them better (as they typically have the gut flora to deal with a lot of dodgy eats, unlike companion birbs).
My kids (black cap, black, black wing & blue streak) loved watermelon, cantaloupe, grapes, apples, bananas, cranberry sauce, cherries, blueberries, etc.. All iron-free. (No raisins, avocado, red meat, caffeine, chocolate, salt.) Word of caution: lories can't handle iron containing foods due to iron storage disease (liver). It w/cause a slow, painful death. Give grapes on 1 day & bananas on another. If given together, they combine to form iron.
Thanks Marcia! That's really great advice! I always try to give them a good balance, I'll keep in mind the iron content as I knew about liver issues but I didn't know this on😊
