Lenny, I know how much you love vintage audio and I am so glad that the manufacturers are making vintage looking gear. I think those speakers look awesome and that Accuphase is one of the most beautiful amps I have ever seen.
Another vintage speaker design overseen by Peter Comeau. He seems to understand what most people love to listen to on relatively affordable speakers while staying somewhat faithful to the original models. Kudos to Sir Comeau. Andrew Jones & Comeau seem to be dominate in mass-produced speaker design for the majority of people. 👍🏼😎
If u listen to his interview Corneau spend alot time experimenting during COVID times
Not surprise he come out so many different speakers
Comeau is a legendary speaker designer. He was the dude behind the Heybrook spks in the 80s. The Heybrook HB-1 was the budget spk that punched higher than what its price tag would suggest.
Amazing how much better the Accuphase sounds than the Yamaha from where I sit. Would like to hear the Leak 250s in a "Neo-Vintage Smackdown" with offerings from Wharfedale, Mission, and KLH.
As well as the Leak 250s with the Leak 230 amp.
Just don't agree at all accuphase is dull boring yamaha much more natural
Like all sound clips on RUclips, you are listening to the microphone NOT the gear.
If you want hear them go into a store.
Accuphase is a Hifi manufacturer.
Yamaha is mass produced crap.
I had an AS3000 and it sounded lifeless as fk
The Leak"s are really great looking speakers, I especially like the sound when hooked up to the Accuphase
I could hear more bass from the accuphase amp for sure!
I love the way the Leak 250 looks. Wish I could audition them.
There probably is some high frequency refraction from the metal edges of the speakers. Putting on the grills probably fixes that
Yes!
Like Harbeths, Leaks are designed to be listened to with grilles on. That's why they have such a deep frame lip. Please read the manual!
No chance im keeping those grills on
Lenny you always place speakers at ear (listenng)level so you can hear the tweeters. If you can't see a tweeter you can't hear it.
How do they compare with the Wharfedale Lintons? They are coming from the same manufacturer right?
Another fun and informative video. Nothing wrong with a little unboxing content. I would compare the sandwich 250 with JBL L100 Classic and the Elipson Heritage XLS 15. When you ask how it sounds to us viewers, it’s really impossible to answer that, cause I’m listening on a pair of Philips Fidelio X2HR, so I guess the sandwich sounds just like my headphones 😉 Think these are the most beautiful speakers, I’ve seen in years. On another note, stay away from Yamaha amps, they are bright as hell…
Yes, the sound will be affected by the headphones, and the RUclips compression and the quality of your DAC. A great set of headphones will be quite revealing listening on a good DAC. You will be able to hear the difference of the speakers. I think a bigger is is the recording, a lot can be gained if JA would creatd a reference recording setup. Look at this ruclips.net/video/oAbRZOWxVDg/видео.html
5/22/24 Lovem. Preordered the 250s thru Tom , thank Tom . I crank these with a 300w per ch Parasound zone master . In my opinion with my setup, it’s on the warm side, which I’m a fan of. Built like tanks . . . heavy like a tank too. Pleanty of base . There not burnt in yet so I’m curious to hear how they pan out. Se’an . . . NJ
Go get those pioneer hpm 100s off of the shelf and fire those up. Ohhhyeah!!!
Are you using one source into both amps? I see the Douk or Fosi switcher, but doesn’t each amp need its own source? Please let me know how this is set up. Thx!
Video dropping on that tomorrow!
@@ThatGuyWithTheBeardthank you!
Not surprisingly since they are both owned by the same company, they look a lot like the Linton’s but with silver instead of black on the grills and stands. I would definitely like to hear them compared to the Lintons. The Lintons are a little relaxed on the high end, so I’m wondering if these are a little more focused in that area. I’m also guessing they are a little taller than the Lintons.
I think the Leaks sound better than the Reference, and im really liking the sound of the Accuphase. I'm excited to hear them compared to Souce Points 8 and on the Accuphase. I think that would be a great pairing??
Hope you review the new Wharfedale Super Denton soon.
8:25 look at the state of that grille cloth...
Do the Leaks drip?
The sound is brighter with the Yamaha. I can hear a difference.
Crazy Lenny is best Lenny! 🤠I saw the maker said the grills is designed for staying on for a better experience?
Leak speaker's have always sounded good to my aged ears especially the monsterous Leak 2075's
Oooh 2075s sound huge!
The Triplets led by the Beards! The pancakes are Good but you don't have any
L100 Classic 75s to
compare them too!!!!
Oh sorry Meant Sandwiches!
They are Good Speakers!
Love the looks of the Leak speakers, but what I don't love is that once again you put another amp on top of the Yamaha A-S3200 while it is running.
Harmless lol
Its a well built amp. I had the AS3000. Granted it was not as well built as it appears but well enough to support 15kg above no problems. Sadly for me, they dont sound good.
@@tomwebb7091
I'm not talking about chassis strength as my A-S3200 could probably support a Cybertruck. I'm talking about heat because if you push it enough it can get a bit toasty. Sound quality is subjective and I think it sounds just fine. But I will say that having recently gotten two tube amps I can understand why some people totally bail on solid state.
@@chrislj2890 My 3000 never really generated any heat. Nowhere near enough to not place something atop anyway. Even the Class A luxmans dont run too hot. Tube amps... yeah totally different animals, at least the true ones (hybrids not so much). Ironically it was my displeasure with the AS3000 sound that led me to try a Unison Triode 25 and i sold the 3000 as quick as i could after an A/B. Shame as the 3000/3200 are as pretty an amp as ive ever seen!
@@tomwebb7091
Well I have mine in a Salamander Designs fully enclosed glass cabinet so I have a couple of 5" USB fans on top and crack open the door when playing. If I had known how much I was going to enjoy tubes I probably wouldn't have gotten the Yamaha or any other solid state amp. But I switch between the two types as the mood hits me.
So they are mirror imaged pairs. Nice !! Stupid name tho. Very nice looking speakers !
Please compare with source point mofi 10 😅
Put every speaker on the Luxman. Toobs for everything. I don't care if it's a 78db, 2ohm Magnaplanar, put tubes on that baby!
You never say how much the 150's are.
You should set the LEAKs up with a LEAK amp and see how that sounds compared to the Yamaha, Luxman, Accuphase, etc.
Maybe this a apple to orange question, but for 3000 grand, the Leak 250 vs Klipsch Heresy IV's?
Oh man that’s as apples to oranges as it gets! Great idea!
I still have my JBL 4312 original speakers from 1983 when I was in the military. I have lugged these things around for 40 years. I have Martin Logan requests and Kef LS 50s and Klipsch 600Ms and by far my 4312s still sound better than any of them. They literally disappear and I have a full soundstage with precision and depth and wonderful base mid range and treble. It is hard to listen to any other speaker.
Oh man! 4312’s are amazing!!!
Oh wait, hear me out and I'm just spitballing here, but I think these might look good paired with the Leak 230 amp. Almost as if they were designed that way :P
Yeah I think that’s the next thing we are gonna pull out haha
Please compare to the KLH Model 5.
After watching this I kinda wanna take a Leak Sandwich.
H Guys love the video, love the interaction.
If you really intend on making more tests listening to speakers on your vlogs, I suggest you work on some kind of a reference set-up/recording area.
Use a good quality mic and fixed positions in the ideal triangle so viewers with good headphones can hear and compare differences. Listen to the guys at Alpha Audio and their reference set-up: ruclips.net/video/oAbRZOWxVDg/видео.html with some amazing recording and benchmarking going on.
When I look at these speakers I need a sandwich!
It would be cooler if the Leak Sandwich came with a nice Bacon and Fried Egg Sarnie.
Audio for Lenny and friends suffer when you walk away from the camera. Just sayin?
"Leak sandwich" is an even dumber name than schitt audio.
What an awful song to test speakers.
Compression overload.
Just not into vintage but to people that are you do have some choices
