Thanks for all your info, Hal. Anything anywhere about going from G to G7? If I start with a G using my 2nd, 3rd and 4th fingers, the reach seems awkward and it 's hard not to rest on my (very short pinky) fingernail.
Hi Kathryn, I'm trying to imagine what you're talking about. When I play G7 I play it with my 3rd and first fingers. The 3rd on the low E string and the first on the high E string 1st Fret muting the A string with my 3rd finger.
@@quailstudios In playing a song with G followed by G7, wouldn't it be simpler to start with a G using my 2nd, 3rd and 4th fingers, then G7 using 1st, 2nd and 3rd. (Not moving 2nd and 3rd fingers.) BUT, the reach seems awkward and it 's hard not to rest on my (very short pinky) fingernail when playing the Initial G using my 2nd, 3rd and 4th fingers.
The question is about the G using my 2nd, 3rd and 4th fingers. So that I can quickly go from G to G7. Or is there a better way to make that transition? Thanks!!
@@katareeves You are correct about the fingers. At 1:20 I talk about just using the 1st and 3rd fingers and muting the A string. I find that the reach is better that way and you don't need the B note on the A string because you already have a B on the B string. You only need on B in this chord.
Hi Randy, we're not talking about the G major scale. The chord is Major. If we put an F# in that chord it will make it a Gmaj7. When we put an F in the chord it is a dominant 7 chord, or a G7.
Thank you. I don't know why this why so difficult for me when I learned in class, but now I have it!
Hello Alexia, thanks for watching. I'm so glad you have it now!

Short fingernail, not short 4th finger.
