- So.... I've had some bad luck with Stitch Fix in the past, mostly just them completely missing my style. But it has been a while, so I decided to try to trick them into styling me better... by lying about my age. This is what happened.

Looking back on this, though I really liked the design of the striped hoodie, it was DEFINITELY not worth $58! Maybe $25. I think I just really wanted to like it and pushed myself to get it. It's so thin for that price. If I had to do it again, I would have returned that shirt and the jeans.

i am in shock that this clothing is $300. i thought it was going to be a $50 box, but “worth” that much. but you only save 25%? that stuff is nice, but it looks like stuff you could easily get at kohl’s or burlington for cheaper.
IKR so expensive. I tried stich Fix. They dressed me too old. I'm still young in my heart.
I would never pay that much money for clothes, especially since I don't work in an office, working from home I'm from home I don't need to wear really fancy clothes which cost an arm in a leg

I mean, it would be fine if it wasn't the most basic clothes in the world. Who are these stylists picking pants and shirt of the same color, grey basic sweater and calling it "FASHION subscribtion service"??

I love the idea of “lying” about your age to get better picks. I’m 42 and hate everything a stylist picks out for me, they make me feel like a grandma, lol
I straight up told my stylist to pretend I was in my 30s not 50s because I feel like I dress younger & it has worked out great…in fact too good, I often want to keep everything but my bank account won’t allow that!

For real. I’m 46 years old wearing an old band shirt from high school and leather pants. I’d need a wild stylist 😂😂😂
OMG yes! I'm 39 and they try to dress me like I'm 65! I have a feeling the stylists are very young and they assume that when you're near 40, you're old! LOL I've had better luck with Trunk Club.

I can see this being a draw for people who hate shopping but honestly, the prices they charge for the items they offer are too much IMO.
They're Kohl's clothes at department store prices.

Yes!!! I ordered once. Didn't like the items they sent me a new package. Everything was so expensive. Like those black boots you can find for $40. It's not even really nice stuff.
I have a stitch fix subscription, and I really like it. For me, the clothes are worth the price. It refreshes my wardrobe without me having to push myself to exhaustion. I have fibromyalgia and back problems. My styles have gotten more and more my taste because you can give feedback online for each item.
Cute stuff but I think you can find the same quality and similar style of things at Marshall's or TJ Maxx for a fraction of the price. 🙂
Maybe. Important hard to fit. Stitchfix clothes actually fit and are delivered to me. Well worth paying a little more than to dig through the racks at one of those stores.

But you don’t have to deal with people and stand in lines to check out for 20 minutes with Typhoid Mary coughing a lung up next to you because they only have two lousy registers open.
I have gotten a few good things with stitch fix but I could find equivalent stuff at TJ Maxx or Marshalls. I keep the things that are most interesting. I gave up on pants from stitch fix because I have to try those things on and I think the pants that would fit would cost way too much. I search the Maxx regularly for pants, but mostly do sales at nicer stores or name brand at consignment.
In my last two fixes I've gotten the exact same pieces that you got, even down to the black booties! My stylist is Laura so we don't have the same person but it was just too funny as you were holding each thing up, I was like, "yup, got that one...that one too!" 😂🤣 On a side note, I told them my true age (44) and they still sent me the same things so I guess age doesn't factor in too much. ❤️
Same! And I'm 49! I did it for a while and the items did get repetitive.
I mean... who knows? Maybe the age thing didn't make any difference!

@@jenluv age doesn’t really make a difference. Honestly at this point the reason why you both got similar pieces is bc the computer algo picks out most of the clothes based on - the questions you answered, what is in stock (they have had serious inventory issues for awhile now), and the way you rate pieces in the thumbs up/thumbs down game. I’m sure there are other factors but that’s mostly it. When you get your preview it will most likely have been completely algo generated. If you don’t select 5 pieces THEN it goes to a stylist for their additions. (I am a former SF stylist).
@@Wonderland. So I’m curious, if much of it is based on algorithm, then it sounds like a customer would not notice much of a difference if they select to be placed with a different stylist for future boxes?
I have started to notice being sent the same items as previous boxes, just different color or repeatedly sending me items that contradict with what I’ve stated were likes and dislikes -
I did get a pair of pants in one box that had a horrible smell to them. A blazer I kept, maybe a year old now and worn maybe 10 times total has a whole in the seam of the arm.
I’ve started to suspect, at the end of the day, this is like a subscription version of purchasing 5 items from Tjmaxx- ish type clothes with massive markup.

That black top with cross cross detail looked GREAT! I might just go up 1 size on that striped hoodie.
I can’t understand why they would make a hoodie that’s so thin you can’t wear a t shirt or anything not your skin tone or white. Hoodies are supposed to be comfy and easy not skin tight and see through.
This was so expensive... I'm quite shocked that people use this service! It feels like some of those items shouldn't have been as expensive as they were quoted, but I'm so freaking cheap when it comes to clothing. I loved the jeans. I would imagine you could get similar types of tops for far cheaper elsewhere. (Though I'm not judging how you or anyone spends their money! I swear I don't care! People would think the crap I spend real money on is ludicrous!)
Honestly just looks like leftover stock from fast fashion brands... I don't think it's worth it at all.

I have used this service 3 times. I wouldn't pay $99 for fast fashion shoes, so I didn't buy shoes or accessories. I received a similar hoodie to you, and it pilled immediately. My daughter got a sweater, she wore it 2x we didn't even wash it yet and it looked awful after the 2nd wearing. There just is no value in there for me.. it's fast fashion, so it should be much less expensive for the quality.
I know skinny jeans are “out” or whatever but I still like them. There is something really cute about a high waisted pair of black skinny jeans with black heels or boots.
It is nice though that there are other options you can choose from now though because for a minute there it seemed like all there was was skinny jeans.

I'm a plus-size girl. I have tried Gwynnie Bee (more of a rental service) and Dia & Co. I liked them both, it just got to be too expensive for me. But the stylists were always really good with my style. I also prefer a plainer style. I loved that black sweater. I've had ones like that in the past and they are sooo comfy. As soon as you said you were "over" cold-shoulder, I totally understood. I have several in my closet that every time I look at them I just sort of go "nah" and move on. Love the fashion stuff! Keep on rocking!
Honestly, every Stitch Fix video I ever saw has convinced me never to let a stranger choose my clothes!

I like that you get shoes with this box. I think this is the best unboxing of this box that I've seen. It fits you well. I have been doing Wantable for several months now. I like their discount if you keep 5 or more and that you can do theme boxes, keep your same stylist and request certain items (no guarantee though).
I once tripped on a pair of sleep pants and wrenched the crap out of my knee, so I feel you on the being careful about that.
I think everything you got looks great! I'm not a big pre-ripped jeans person, but those are cute.

Maybe it’s because I’m very comfortable styling myself/knowing what I like, but this seems way overpriced. Both for the items themselves and the “styling fee.” So many online retailers offer free return shipping, I can’t fathom paying 20 bucks just to try stuff on.
I have that black sweater but in maroon, and I love it! It's held up really well as long as it's washed properly!
I’m 45 and have a Stitch Fix subscription. I made sure my stylists know that flower prints, stripes, and definitely animal prints were NOT WELCOME. 🙄🙄🙄
I use the comment and suggestion box every time. I let my stylist know what I like, what suits me etc
I think 🤔 I only had one box in 2 years that I didn’t like.

I got the pink clover sweater in my box as well as the black sweater. The pink clover is definitely one of my favorites. I have worn it at least 6 times since December.

Cute stuff. I wish I could wear boots like that! I had a bad ankle sprain years ago, so I have to be really careful! I agree with what people are saying about it being a little high (target has some super cute pajamas that are similar in style), but it is fun to get someone else’s picks, and like you said, it’s once a season.

Stitchfix has only recently become available in the UK and I'm keen to give it go - I think I too will be embroidering on the truth regarding my age, I dress quite young (I'm 61) and I really don't want clothing for an elderly person 😂😂.

I really really loved everything, even the jeans. I think they're very trendy. And the PJs were simple but really cute too. The black sweater was my favourite though. I love the criss cross in the back.

Glad you loved your stuff! My husband tried it for a couple of months, he liked the stuff he got but he'll never pay those prices. ($60 for a button up shirt) The cloths are pretty expensive for what it is but you're really paying extra for the convenience of not going out and shop.

I actually like everything that the stylist picked out for you and I'm glad you kept it all. It feels overpriced but that's only because I like to go out and get the clothes myself. Great idea lying about your age - the results speak for themselves! :o)

I had used stitch fix right after I had left a job where I had to wear a uniform for seven years. I honestly didn't know what my style was or how to dress. Stitch fix was a great way to get pieces and the styling suggestions helped me find what I liked. I will say, I had an amazing stylist and had the same stylist for over a year. Each box got better and she would even say things like, I know you loved the skirt you kept last time so here are a couple shirts that would go well with it. I know the pieces were more expensive, and I probably kept about 30% of what was sent. I have since stopped the subscription as my stylist left and I didn't want to start off at square one, but I really enjoyed the subscription.

I really like the jeans. i thought they were very flattering on you. Totally understand in the boots. Finding comfortable well fitting footwear in styles you like when you have “weird” feet, is a godsend.

You probably won’t see this but I work at a dance shop where I fit shoes on people all day and specifically pointe shoes and just wanted to let you know that your feet aren’t weird. Everyone has one foot that is bigger than the other. Interestingly, with pointe shoes we fit the smaller foot since they will stretch. If there is too big of a difference then they have to get 2 different size shoes which we try very very hard to avoid since they are so expensive.
I did my first stitch fix October 2020 literally the same month I got pregnant so haven’t seen but I’m gonna do it again bc it reminded me it is so worth it. I liked everything you got.!!

I absolutely love the black sweater w criss cross back i got the same one a few boxes ago and I also love the booties. I was just charged my styling fee can't wait for my preview i like stitch fix i have it on a every 3 months cycle I've only once ever gotten the whole box other than that i might just get one item . They sometimes send me offers for a box with no styling fee. They have sent me boxes with jeans that fit great but I would normally never pay the amount for some jeans so i didn't pick them. When I initially signed up it was with a referral link through a friend her cousin is a stylist and it was a wonderful deal i got a 100 dólar credit so basically it was 100 bucks free and anything over I paid.
For the semi see-through top I would wear a layering tank. Though I wear one pretty much every day since 2007.

Try wearing your crop top with high waisted jeans! You’ll be surprised how confident & comfortable you’ll be bc no belly will show. That’s the way to do it especially in our 40’s 💕😉

I LOVED the Jagger high rise skinny, which they sadly no longer make. I had two pair & one I literally wore threadbare, the others are relegated to old jeans/ at home only status. I need to see if any of the other Jaggers come w/ out distressing & if so give them a try.
I tried Stitch Fix a few years ago. One thing I didn’t like about the website is that you couldn’t see the backside of an item. I added a sweater I thought I would like and the back was terrible. I think most of the pieces were good quality but expensive. It did force me to try things I wouldn’t have normally picked for myself and that was nice. Most times I liked every item except for one. When I added it up it was always cheaper to keep everything than to return one item. Now I have several pieces in my closet that I won’t wear. I was glad I tried it a few times but would not recommend it as a regular option.
