Melody Pianissima was always my favourite ghost. She's pretty, she loves video games, and she plays the piano.
As someone who's played the original Gamecube game since I was 6 years old I'm impressed that this is on the 3DS. The only thing that bothers me is the audio frequency for the music sounding compressed, the best example is the King Boo Battle where it sounds like their using the N64 soundfont.

Madame Clairvoya is my most favorite portrait ghost I felt terrible for catching her. But you can understand why you have to do it for her. She lost her powers and have noting left and there is a boo as well it might report king boo for helping Luigi and she will face things worse being a painting...
She did ask us to put her back, so maybe she was at peace in the painting before being freed. Like, she wanted to stay, but since she had no say, she was taken out of it and forced to block Luigi's path. In the end, she did us a favor with telling us what she could see. She's an unsung hero in my book

Heck, this game had a lot of potential for a horror Mario series game. The thunderstorm in the background was just perfect while catching ghosts.

Wow i cant believe luigis mansion looks this good on a portable console.
I think it's being played on Citra so all the pixels are smoothed out to give the cleaner look
As much as I think this game is an improvement over the original, I can't help but be irked by the odd changes like how the video screen on the Ghost Portrificationizer no longer has a screen-shot of the one second clip from the Space World trailer where the three ghosts are playing poker and is replaced with what looks like a generic video of the hideout. Or how the old photos in the conservatory went from pictures of ghosts based on classical musicians, to random ghosts holding instruments. I can't help but question those choices.
The conservatory portraits are still the same though?

I hate catching that ghost with passion. Ice physics, high resistance, and worse of all icicle drops where you can easily get damaged which ruins your gold and platinum run.
The attention to detail on their faces when they're getting captured shows their desperation

The dark rooms look like they already lit...somewhat ruining the feel the original game had. But other than that this remake does look quite beutifull. May buy it when I get the chance.
They look lit because it's a handheld port. Brightness needs to be enhanced on handheld games since you'll be probably playing outdoors and the lightning will affect how you see your handheld's screen as opposed to an indoor TV screen.

Imo its probably because they're in uncanny valley territory. Future Luigi Mansion's games had very cartoony ghosts. This game had just straight up has human ghosts.

i got all gold paintings but the clockwork soldiers are the hard one because you have to get 3 and there's tables that can get in the way and also when I hold back the white thing to get a ghost when I hold it in that direction where the ghost is for some unknown reason they escape only the boss ones only the ones with stuff that get in the way
My hardest one was boolosus because of my inability to freeze the boos without taking damage, pissed me off almost every time I got hit.
