Really enjoying these videos, just discovered your channel! Your story about a tiger platoon stalling on a hedge 5 times in a row really speaks to me. One of my fireflies was stuck on the edge of an orchard for pretty much the whole game once!
Thank you for the in-depth look at this unit. It would be awesome albeit Time consuming to do a "Deep Dive" for each unit in the game that would be awesome.
At some point we could. We actually had that as the theme of one of our previous Shifting Sands Tournaments, Soviets, Western allies, and Germans... lots of fun.
The Lessons from the Front FAQ states that surrounded unit still break off through enemy units. So long as they end up more than 6" away after consolidation they are not destroyed. This means with the Tigers 10" tactical if it's forced to break off it just drives off.
True and good clarification, though, "end up more then 6 away", can be a challenge and proper placement of infantry can deny this places as well. Hard to do, yes. but possible.
Thanks! and Not sure yet. I'm not a big eastern front player so it might be a while on the Soviet beasties. I would like to do Panthers sooner rather then later. Probably something British first
M10 still slightly out-ranged by Tiger, but it's a major threat due to two factors - cheap cost means they can lose three for each dead Tiger and come out even. Second, the dubiously priced Desert Vets card means they can do blitz/SnS combo on rolls of 3+. But the true nemesis is the British. Ultra cheap, Careful-rated AT14 in Achilles is just brutal - 4.5 points for an AT14 TD is crazy, and the Firefly is only 5 points. Very hard to come to advantage against those - keeping in mind the humble Panzer IV is more costly than both, despite only having AT11 and shorter range.
28:14.. well that goes against every story you will ever hear about a tiger tank from the war. The legendary tiger stories scared all allied so much they yelled "Tiger!" at panzer IVs and even smaller tanks than that. Panzer IVs or any tank for that matter would still be insanly scary to charge as a rifle man. What are you gonna do run up and fire in the periscopes!? I understand it is a game and infantry cant be made worthless. But i would prefer this heroic act could only be made if there was no escape or if the foot soldiers were in an ambush. Not a william wallace charge on a open field or street. I tried this game first version but i gave it up due to frustration of endless misses and failed firepower. It was too much pillowfighting. And all games ended up in big parkinglots while invincible infantry sat on objectives. Willing to try the new version but i guess it still has alot of adjustments left until it is fun.
I know they used to, and I hope they are just waiting to re-release in plastic. The old unit cards are still available online via Google image search, so even if FoW doesn't release in plastic, there are other 15mms WW2 MINI companies that do, so I'd say buy some of them and print the cards out.
Because they were no Kingtigers (Tiger IIs) at DDay. They were used later in the Battle of the Bulge (Ardennes-Offensive). The Bulge books by Flames of War will be released later this year, then you can play Kingtigers in version 4.
Brand new to the game and just built a half track, a pair of Shermans, and then a Tiger. So cool looking, thanks for the info.
Thanks for watching! Flames of War is a great hobby, good luck!

Good video, the transmission didnt even break once
Fantastic video, love these tactics breakdowns. Really helpful as a new FoW player.
Glad to hear it! That's one of the main reasons I decided to start these.

that's a good suggestion!
Really nice video. Will you do a "what if" late war report between US armored vs Soviet ?
At some point we could. We actually had that as the theme of one of our previous Shifting Sands Tournaments, Soviets, Western allies, and Germans... lots of fun.
Just found this site. Very good analysis on Tigers. I am going to watch more of these. Thanks.
These videos are great. I will watch all of these that you post and all of your battle reports.
Thanks! Appreciate it! I hope you enjoy it.
I love this in depth unit reviews. With the amount of soviet players I’d love a east front tactic review for the tigers and StuGs
Great Series of Video, Thanks muchly
hey! great way to cover the unit. not only you talk about how to use them to win the battle but how to defeat them as well

Great video. Maybe You can make one about how to use elephant?
One of the Leopard's parents, the other one being the Panther, a family of kittens.
Great job!

Tiger's fear the Achilles more than the regular M10 (my Achilles eat Tiger's for breakfast)
I got the German panzer kamfgrupper set and my tiger only have a 13 firepower and a cross check of 3
What’s up with that
Panzer kamfgrupper is still version 3 I think
Is there a king tiger, or tiger with the Porsche turret upgrade in FOW?
Previous versions yes, but I don't think so for 4th edition yet.
Do u ship to New Zealand
I don't ship anywhere. I'm not a manufacturer :)

Why doesn't flames of war German dday have a kingtiger?
