Thank goodness you guys post these....one of the only quality FOW videos I am aware of.
Great batrep as always. Enjoyed Jacob's look at 16:57. The cunning examination of overwhelming odds coupled with the steely determination to face this to the bitter end.
You've distilled the essence of Jacob. :)
Great game guys! Thanks for the content.
Your welcome and thanks for watching!
Did you realise that one of the tigers had the body of a panther 😂
Yes, Jacob snuck it in and I didn't notice until I was editing :)
Yes just can’t wait to watch this. big thanks to u guys from Great Britain 🇬🇧
Thanks!
Having a laugh and rolling some dice, great watch, thanks
Thanks for the game folks!
Kudos for charging those Wirbels in, Jacob. :D Nice batrep yet again. :)
I really like the flavor Bulge American is bringing to shermans, they are by far my favorite medium tank.
Thank you and I agree on the Shermans
emmm... isnt one of those tigers, a tiger turret with a panther hull! XD
Yeah I was gonna mention that as well
Yes, Jacob slipped up and I didn't notice until editing.
@@AllMiniaturesGreatandSmall at 4:16 you notice it and call out the hybrid monster lol
Panzer IV 70 Mgs has forward firing (same Rule as his Cannon) then, the tank can't make defensive fire if he is assaulted by flank. Yankee infantry can't put inside tank wrecks. The FAQ say: "Can my models end their movement on top of other models? No." So you can't end your movement over the wrecks
Are the wrecks really considered models anymore? Wouldnt they then rather be considered terrain?
Great batrep, thank you guys.
Shouldn't the German armored inf PL make a rally test to get rid of pinned down, in order to get off the the halftracks closer to the enemy?
Close game. I think swopping the hit to the forward Whirbilwind eliminated defensive fire against the attacking American infantry. I thnk if the Whirlbils had broken off from the combat after that first round they would have to also move more than 6 inches from the Chafees so they could not contest. Also the Whirbilwinds in the previous turn could have gotten on the flanks of the Chafees and fired if that flank armour is thin, and the Bumbars could have moved to contest the objective. But good game. Well painted minis. I notice you don't use hills much which negate wheatfields for cover.
Thank you for the content, I picked up a Fury starter set after watching your videos and we had a good time. Will the d day German and American army sets give us enough forces to enjoy pretty much all the mission types or should we consider getting something else?
The Starter boxes are a great start for forces, I like both the German D-day and SS Army boxes, both are interesting. The American D=Day box is great but I would also check out the new Bulge Army box, with lots of tasty late war Shermans. Any of these boxes are excellent and should play against each other pretty well.
Another great battle report John! Thanks for that. 👏 🔥
I think you didn’t use the E8 at 100% of their potential, I mean with their smooth ride they can keep moving 10” each turn like a Blitz move so you keep your full ROF and getting closer to the objective.
Also Chaffee’s could have moved more to flanking 8.8s or keep pressure on Tigers(?).
Nevertheless, dices were definitely not with you this game!! I’m thinking about your “SUPER”Pershing 😅😅
Smooth ride really only kicks in if you keep your speed under 4" Move any more and the Stabilizer rule will still penalize you. I probably could have used the Chaffees better but going after Tigers is not something they are good at.
Finally get to see brummbars in action, probably my favorite tank/artillery
Possibly one of the worst tank in the game now. Higt points price, Short Range, low at and when you use two in bombard you need to reroll hits...unplayable
For general play I might agree, but special scenarios it can still shine. City fights against infantry might be fun. Need to run 4 though if bombarding.
@@AllMiniaturesGreatandSmall better Play Hummel's to do these work in bombard or wespe if you want kill infantry with brutal weapon With a slow firing and slow range I think you are using a wrong tactics
Great report, as usual. Noticed though Jacob blitzed the panzer iv/70, that kills the Pershing, a full move instead of only the allotted 4inches... Pershing should have survived anther turn
Jacob!
I have a question for you, is there any version of teem Yankee that contains information about the T10 or T10m tank?? It's one of my favorite tanks, after the tiger,tiger2and jagdtiger.the jagdtiger was the first heavy armour I ever bought. Thanks for the work y'all do.I really appreciate it.big fan!!! J
Nope
@@batesmt25 that's OK, Thanks. J
Great job Jacob
Jumbo have front armor 11?! My tigers only have 9... Great report. Im slowly learning flames of war with my dday german force
JOHN ITS SHOOT AND SCOOT!!!😂
I know, I know... :-)
Just played FoW last week and i loved it.
Are the point systems set up so an early war force can play a late war force?
Each of the eras is balanced against itself first. It's just a reality of the conflict, what with technology evolving so rapidly throughout. That said, the separation of eras is partly arbitrary so a late mid-war force (1943) should be able to still hold it's ground decently enough vs an early late-war force (1944), for example. Early-war vs late-war would be a problem because the difference in technology is just so massive. Compare an early-war monster tank like the B1, Matilda or KV-1 to a late war one like a Konigstiger or Super Pershing. Then you have the historical/flavour weirdness of a early-war French force fighting against late-war German volksturm defending Berlin... In the end it's about having fun, so do whatever floats your boat, with your opponent's consent. Just know the game is designed to be played between two forces of the same era. The "Hit the Beach" box set is a fantastic way to get into the game with two late war forces. If you and a friend each buy a box you have two basically complete armies right there!
@@grafeisen8813 thanks for clearing that up.
Thought that was case
Will need to see what my group plays.
And the poor Battle-weary GIs have to save the day for the tanks! Love it!
why no shots on the infantry with the wirblewinds?
Wait a second here.... I thought only Jake could roll that many one's and two's?
What happened to over watch and maneuver
Do you get to redeploy the part of the platoon that didn’t charge?
Yes, the whole unit can consolidate after winning the assault, not just the Assaulting teams
Did those brumbars have to re-roll hits since its 2 teams?
Yes 👍
Yes, we spaced it, I don't think it effected the outcome though. Good catch.
interesting Tank the Germans are fielding there. Is that a tiger turret on panther body....Early Tiger 2 prototype? hahah
Yes !!! 😃🍾
I don't think they did anything, but should the Brummbars have had to re-roll hits for being a small battery?
You are right, they should have. But we both spaced it, ultimately not a big deal
Don't the Brumbars re roll hits because it's a two gun battery
Did one of those tigers have a panther hull/
Yes, yes it is. Jacob brought it along and I didn't notice it until I was editing! Shows you how good that german camo is.
Shouldn't the PzIV/70 that Blitz and Tactical be hitting the Super Pershing on 5s?
Not trying to nitpick, I just recently starting collecting an army after watching your battle reports and am trying to learn the rules.
Not sure at what part of the batrep you are referring but as long as the blitz was successful there is no penalty to hit.
So he blitzed and moved so he could go 14 inches in total. 10 regular +4 for blitzing. Then he has his moving rate of fire of 1 shot vs 2 for stationary. He is at close range so he hits on a 4. If he had just blitzed 4 inches and was still long range he would have had 2 shots needing 5s.
@@Anvilarm07 you're right I see my mistake now. It's much clearer in the rulebook but on the cards that come with Hit the Beach it reads more as though after a Blitz you fire at Halted but if you moved you take a +1 Hit Penalty when it's actually referring to if you fail the Skill check.
This was a 100 point list?
So no one gnna talk about the totally real tiger one and not a panther with tiger turret
Why are the Shermans Hit by Artillery on 3+, but on the the other Flank by 88 on 6?
Ranging in arty is based on the skill of the observer or the arty btty. You get three tries to range in. If you range in on the first try it is just like shooting a tank in the open. ie 4. But you add one for each failed attempt to range in. So if you range in on a 6 that becomes a 6 to hit. The 88 needs a 6 to hit because it is base 4 +1 for cover in the wheat field +1 for long range. It is two different mechanisms.
@@Anvilarm07 That is well known to me. Playing Flames of War long enough.
But if you take a look at 24:43 it is said after succesful first range in, the shermans are hit on 3+. Makes now sense if they are elese hit on 4+ plus modifieres.
Okay no 3 was rolled but the sentence confussed me on the first view. Hope you got my point.
Good catch, slip of the tongue, After first attempt range in should have been 4+ to hit each team.
@@AllMiniaturesGreatandSmall was just confused at that moment if you are playing a Veteran or regular Company. Anyway a good report :)
U forgot gtg and shoot ostwind on 7
Dang your dice are as bad as mine
That's not a Sherman gun on the Chaffee...The M6 was used in the B25 and it's lightweight and not the same as the M3.
Do a d day senerio!
We did, you can check it out here. ruclips.net/video/27_KlecMZBk/видео.html enjoy!
What an atrocious run of luck for the Americans. Not an auspicious start for this force in v4.
I know it's just a game among friends as such, but I always cringe a little at 'soft' rolls or "dice drops" where they just kinda drop instead of actually roll and make some revolutions. I guess it carries over from my GM times when people would "drop" dice as it's easier to control what you get as opposed from actual rolls. XD
I like the idea of wargames in 15mm, but why in fow do players have there tanks so close to each other, it's not good looking. In fact it's bloody stupid looking, not realistic at all. Having them lined up side by side is what I'm making reference to. 😱😱😱😱
If you wanted to play a real scale battle on company level, you would probably need a whole room or two for it. There is just not enough space on a table to get a real scale battlefield.
All units in a platoon need to be within 6 inches of the platoon commander. Most players keep the platoon within 6 inches because it's easier.
God. Just God and you two did indeed reproduced.
