48 years later it's even worse.
Jailed MPs always try to restore their reputations by briefly campaigning for prison improvements.
Where is the sound
Sound level is much too low
And in this mince meat jar full of goose fat was... John Stonehouse!
Why did Australia give Stonehouse bail ?
Obviously, the Aus government hoped "the chap would do a bunk" and relieve the government and legal system there of a year of bad publicity.
We can take it Czechoslovakia put no value on his ability to pass on national secrets . So Stonehouse had really nowhere to go but Britain - which he didn't want to return to - so he made a virtue from a necessity and became a model bailer.
Where's the sound?
It's amazing there's no Wiki bio on Llew Gardner. This guy was all over the place in the 70's.
Lew Gardner was a member of the Communist Party at one point but then went professional.@@jerryuk93
He is great at arguing a case.
Your in prison … deal with it
The 2023 drama portrays him as a roguish buffoon. In reality, he was a traitor, liar, thief, and fraudster. His Commons statement explaining his disappearance (excusing his behaviour, more like) is an offence to common sense.
He's a patriot and a hero.
FREMANTLE!
