    Hot take but as a non-patd fan I think Brendon has an AMAZING voice. I just think he developed a talent over the past several years for finding all of the worst ways to use it and none of the right ways.

      As a questioning-patd fan (it gets worse each release), I agree. I think Brendon’s lower registers sound smooth and refined, and there’s even some times when his belting is great and appropriate for the song. But he’s just been so hell-bent on trying to show off his vocals on every song for the past 3 albums, and it very rarely sounds good on any of the tracks

    My Chemical Romance used a Queen influence in The Black Parade, but it WORKED. Unlike Brendon Urie, the MCR guys made it their OWN. That's what makes them so great. And when they were losing inspiration, they broke up in 2013. If you can't write good music, either disband, or go on hiatus. That's what Brendon should've done. Now that MCR is back, their newest song is AMAZING! It actually sounds like something a 40-something-year-old would write. Gerard Way has really matured and grown as a lyricist.

I think Brendon does have a ton of vocal talent but that being said, HE DOES NOT NEED TO SING IN HIGH NOTES FOR AN ENTIRE SONG! We get it, he can sing but I think his lower register works for his voice much better. I'm also of the opinion that people would have much less of an issue with his last 2 albums if he just stopped using the p!atd name, it hurts to see a band I once loved get tarnished by this wannabe Queen/theater shit. I hope the hate for this album gives him somewhat of a wake-up call, but he's probably so far up his own ass he won't care.

    P!ATD used to be one of my most favourite bands, and I still find myself coming back to some of their older songs out of nostalgia. I genuinely think that Brendon has a great voice and generally has the potential to do great things. But it feels like his whole thing these days is "the bigger, the better". Him trying to flex his voice every second of every song makes them impossible to listen to in my opinion. In his previous albums, there was usually some sort of build-up to the more impressive vocals, making them just generally more exciting. It would be sooo much better if Brendon used some variety in his vocals and made use of his lower register. Another thing that also disappointed me was the instrumental in each of the songs. It was literally just background noise that Brendon sang over. I miss the songs where the instrumental was just as thought-out and exciting as the vocals, instead of being something to fill the bits of empty space with. I thought Pray for the Wicked was underwhelming, but it had some high points, despite it being a failed copy and paste of Death of a Bachelor. But unlike those albums, Viva Las Vengeance didn't have a single song I managed to listen to all the way through. So yeah, rest in peace, Panic! at the Disco

    This has happened before, where I can’t skip and the ad is actually music, but usually it’s smaller unknown artists, so imagine my surprise hearing that nonsense on this album review.

    Absolutely no objections from me to any criticism of his super overrated vocals. I adore Patrick Stump's voice and it used to drive me crazy when people compared them, even if I admit they have an element of similarity on the surface, cause when you listen to any song they both sing on the difference is profound. One has both a soul voice and so much soul in their voice and the other is Brendon Urie.

    • @mgu8178
      @mgu8178 Год назад +61

      Patrick sounds genuine and organic, sometimes I literally replay parts of fob songs just to hear him sing because his voice sounds so smooth and matches the melody perfectly.
      Brendon Urie sounds fake and strained, specially in the past few years. He's always trying to show off his range but never connects with the music. He has some songs where he just lets his voice flow, and it sounds nice, but most of the time his vocals are boring and shallow.

      The last minute of “One Of THOSE Nights” by The Cab is a perfect example of this tbh. Their voices are sooo different and it couldn’t be clearer than when you hear Patrick sing immediately after Brendon, it’s crazy. 🤯

      @katej2284 Год назад +7

      @@digitalbritt2k EXACTLY! 😊 it's probably my favourite example. I love that the first time I ever heard it I was like 'ok maybe Patrick's voice is just super blended in or something...' and then it gets to his bit and I was just reminded once again how truly awesome his voice actually is and like you say especially in comparison to Brendon who is just....there. I love how just a few lines of him singing a guest vocal can lift and transform a whole song (stuff like Transit's All Your Heart for example).

Everything else just kinda feels like background noise that, sure, doesnt sound bad, but is relatively forgettable, and they more or less blend into each other, and makes it hard to differentiate unless i saw which song was playing next.
    Though the main song that i think doesnt actually sound good, is something about maggie, the constant mix up of flows in the hook of the song is personally jarring, and takes me out of the rhythm each time it comes in
