Hey folks, hope you enjoyed. If you'd like to check out another amazing Scottish ride of ours: ruclips.net/video/om8HtyMnVvI/видео.htmlsi=txDUXlWpCGJTbqfj
Hi ‘guys’ Came across your video several weeks ago about thoughts of cycling around the world. Just seen your latest video and I’ve subscribed to see how you both get on re your exciting adventure. I went off to cycle around the world, at the young age of 63. Sadly it came to a stop after 3 years in Japan due to Covid. I was just unable to continue on my adventure as all countries had shut down there borders. I just want to say, you’ll have a fabulous experience, which for me was humbling and a wow experience. Enjoy the adventure. Steve 👍🚴♂️🏴
Hi Steve :) Thank you and really glad you've subscribed to come on the big trip. We too attempted to cycle around the world before on a trip that was cut short by covid, though in the French alps so not as far as you got. What an amazing adventure to have at 63! Even though you had to cut it shorter than you planned, I bet it was an amazing 3 years exploring on the bike. Thank you so much for your support 🚲
Your videos are just getting better and better. Beautiful winter photography. You really are so talented. Loved watching your trip and despite some rough weather seeing such stunning scenery. Fabulous.
Loved this video, so grateful to you both for the lovely storytelling of the area I live, cycle and walk. I helped Markus Stitz a little bit with the route design in his bikepacking book… great to see you reading it on the train and exploring the coastline 😊
Today was my first day at my new job. And it was a very good day. As if God actually listened to my prayer this morning, He blessed me again by letting me view your video when I got home. I ate my ham and potatoes dinner while watching your video. Today was a great day. Thank you for all your work and your videos! Love each one!
Firstly congratulations on the new job 🎊 hope thr first day went well? Really glad you liked the video. Happy it rounded off what sounds like a pretty incredible day! All the best 🙂
I' m from Poland. I don't travel much lately, but thanks to u , I'm in scotland right now 🎉😊 this beautiful views reminds me irish coastline soo much. Love from Poland & happy Valentine's
Wow! Knowing that 3 halves is more than a whole, I´m still trying to find out the meaning of the title. The intimate acting you both do, as if there was no camera, the storytelling and the great videography is like a lighthouse among the most often sad and underexposed storries about bike-packing in winter. As Scotland is already on my list, I truely enjoyed it to get new food for thought. As your latest suscriber, I am looking forward to check out your other videos here
Another great video. Just two things that I would like to ask of you. 1. Please make sure that you stay safe at all times and don't put yourselves at risk just to make social media content. 2. Please don't feel guilty for staying in somewhere solid with modern conveniences. No one expects you to sleep under canvas all the time on your trips. If your trips can be made easier by staying in B&B's , lodges, chalets, etc then do it. It is nice to see the pleasure in your trips, but for the viewer to see that, the trip has to be pleasurable for you both. Youth is fleeting but the aches and pains that develop will stay with you for the rest of your life. It is ok to be kind to yourselves.....we're not here to judge you....just here to share the ride
Really enjoying your videos :) me and my partner have done most of our bikepacking abroad but just spent every day in rain (except for two) for the last three weeks in the Highlands. Camping for so long in the rain can get us quite weary and your video given a boost. Such lovely shots and i appreciate the lack of music and just natural sounds ❤
Thanks so much :) Yes camping in constant rain can be pretty demoralizing. It can also mean you have soggy gear. We've found mixing things up with a stop in a cafe for a tea to warm up can really help. Really glad you enjoy the videos, thanks for your support!
Thank you so much 😁 really passionate about the videos and constantly trying to learn and improve. So really chuffed to hear you think they're improving. The snowball was especially good😋
Don't know how you make the awful weather look so damned appealing and makes me want to load up my bike in winter and do the same but you do, well done.
What a wonderful video! As someone who has cyclotoured I could feel the wind and the rain. How cool to be able to stay in a castle! Happy Birthday Josh! January is also my birth month though I am many years older than you, but still riding. I hope your next year is a great one!
Thank you 😁 we didn't actually stay in the castle but in a stable house on the grounds which was pretty cool! Happy birthday to you 🎊 here's to many more years and adventures on the bike for us both!
Dear Josh and Sarah, each one of your videos is a delight and I'm so happy I've found you! Your energy is both peaceful and spontaneous, which seems to also reflect in the way you understand cycling: as an adventure and a way to connect to nature/landscape in a mindful way. I'm not really a "sportsman", I use zero special equipment, but riding a bike is a lovely and joyful way to stay in a daily touch with forests, ponds and meadows around my hometown and a good long ride with some tea packed while your books and candles and an armchair are waiting for you at home, that's what makes me happy:) As your stories, routines and trips do! Much love!
Thank you so much, really glad you liked the videos and the style of riding. I agree that it's a beautiful way to connect us to the nature world 🌏 and as you say, makes home a welcome treat. Thanks for thr support
Happy belated birthday Josh ! You are both very brave people cycling and camping in that awful weather ⛺️🌪️🌊☔️. Looks like you enjoyed yourselves though so that’s all that matters 😊
Another great video you should be filmmakers. You are able to take us with you all the way and makes us feel like we are there with you - great shots and storytelling - Happy Birthday 🎉❤️
Aww looks like a fantastic trip, I love Dumfries and Galloway and the Ayrshore coast. So many folk go straight past it. The other side of the M74, area around Moffat is gorgeous too 🏴💙 so glad you got spoiled and missed the worst of the storm on your Birthday 🎂 🥳 🏰
Thank you 😁 yes there are so many beautiful little coves and villages to explore. We could definitely go back and see so much more! Yes it character building at least 🌬
There's something truly magical about your videos. I love your storytelling, humour, warm-hearted personalities, and ability to weather the storms 💨, literally 😀 Happy birthday 🎂, Josh!
Brilliant video shot in your own superb style...great to see you out on the bikes again even though the weather was poor..hope you enjoyed taking it easy...Best wishes to you both.
Fantastic stuff a great adventure for you both , thanks for sharing and looks great around the coast there in Ayrshire , some challenging riding well done 👍😀😀
Well done guys ….think me n the Mrs were out of the UK when you filmed this ..our village got battered electric lines down for around 48 hours .. you were only about 40 miles away from us at pints in this trip. Let me know if you’re ever up this way again I live on the sw300 route. ATB Coops 👍🏻👍🏻🚴🚴
Ah you managed to escape the storms! We too have 3 power cuts over a week. Hope you had a good trip? Some awesome riding, even with the winds 💨 thanks 😁
Although not a cyclist, I love your videos. I’ve tried several times over the years but I’ve always ended up with motorcycles. I was thinking about the comments you received about not being able to survive in your current cottage without a car. You’ve proved them wrong, but at quite a cost. Have you given any thought to e-bikes? You can go as slow as you want, just as many places as a pedal bike, but with much less stress, so you can concentrate on all the nature around you. Obviously not for long distance, multi day trips, but… Just a thought.
Really glad you like the videos 😁 e bikes would be nice but they're pretty costly. Plus we would have to charge them which wouldn't always work with our type of trips we do. Luckily our thighs are up to the challenge for now 🚲😁
Another cracking video form you guys, this looked like one that would test you with that kind of weather but you stuck with it and we’re both still smiling all the time I think on this occasion having that opportunity to stay in the castle was a brilliant idea from your family and allowed you both to really enjoy the occasion. Thanks for sharing this one with us all.
Ditto Tim Wright before me, I love this vlog and my old bones are also living my youthful days through you two ☺. I spoke to you about losing my husband, Terry mrecently, so Im watching for the both of us. If we wanted luxury, it was unusually a youth hostel 😄. But we did once celebrate a significant anniversary in a posh hotel on Uig. Take care of each other. Love, light and Bright Blessings xx
Really glad you're enjoying the videos 😁 yes luxury is very rare for us also. It felt really special and replenishing after getting batteries by the winds and rain. Thank you for the support 😁
So cute in the tent like a couple of doormice😊 Have walked some of this route years back but you always get a dousing of Scottish wind &rain.nice post😅
I love your videos. You take me to places and I get to share your adventures. I have a worry though, I really think Sarah needs a brightly coloured waterproof jacket as she is often in all black and not visible which is ok off road but on the small lanes she blends in too much !
Really glad to take you along 🚲 this is a new jacket actually, and my first time testing it. I usually have a blue one which is a bit more visible. We do have high vis jackets too for when it's dark and of course lights. As you say on roads you have to be a lot more wary than off road
I live in Prestwick, I've cycled this ayrshire coastal path too many times to count but in these winds it's only fun if you are up for flying (literally been lifted up a few times by the gusts), so happy to see you guys come (although please come when we have better weather!) Dunure is one of my favourite spots, Trump's Turnberry estate feels dystopian in the area it's definitely not a tourist spot, going down to Galloway oh my heart
We had some beautiful weather for the first little section and we too really loved Dunure. Yes the golf course seemed to divide people on whether they played golf or not 🤔 a really beautiful place and we'd love to come back and explore more
Very strange seeing you ride the roads I cycle but you missed the best bit of Ayrshire, the North very very different and probably even more interesting!
North of Prestwick is even nicer, Fairlie moor, Cumbrae is just a short ferry then the coast past Largs has amazing views of Bute etc which is another short ferry ride.
Cracking video. It's a great area. We camped/motorbiked there years ago, and now we're old year before last we motorbiked/airbnbd it. Think we'll go again as you've reminded us how nice it is.
Hi Guys, I really enjoy your videos and respect your fortitude and determination in some tough weather conditions. Can you tell me please, what fold up chairs you use and carry on all your trips?. Thx and keep doing what you're doing. Cheers Stuart
I started my bikepacking journey here in the spring / summer of 1984 across Europe. It was an amazing journey that ended with the worst hail storm in the history of Europe. Look up the 1984 Munich, Germany hail storm... it killed so many people and destroyed so much property! The most costly storm in history of humanity until hurricane Katrina. Yeppers, I was there on my bicycle!!
This was a totally surreal experience... like it was the end of the world. Fortunately, it happened at the end of the day. I had already checked into a hotel in Munich. I was at a beer garden enjoying a brew when I looked up and saw this massive storm moving in. Really, really dark clouds with lightening flashing like a strobe light and the ongoing sound of thunder non-stop. I realized that I needed to get back to the hotel when the massive hail stones began to fall and destroy everything. Thankfully I made it back to the hotel without injury. Next morning Munich was a disaster zone! Rooftops were destroyed, vehicles were destroyed, trains, buses, airplanes were destroyed. Even the statues in the park had been heavily damaged by this storm!
Ah I would too. No we brought them second hand and they'd already had their fair share of adventures. They're Trolls from Surly who make quality bikes made to travel many many miles
I bet they have done some crazy millage. Yeah I’ve been told there good solid bikes. Been meaning to ask what camping stove do you use ? I’m sick of my gas one that blows out all time with wind.
Really enjoyed the film, many thanks! You might be interested in the film about the Culzean Way on my channel, as you experienced the heavy traffic first-hand if ending up on the wrong roads. It was nice to watch this and see many familiar locations again, a joy to watch!

Thanks for creating an awesome route! We loved it, only wish we had more time. Definitely a reason to come back though 😁
What a fab trip you two's, thank you for taking us all with you xx

A lovely little film and proof that with a smile on your face and the right attitude the world is your oyster.
We like to think so 😁
I didn't know Laura Trott was a bike packing Legend too...
🎉 happy Birthday Josh 🥳 Thank you for sharing your lovely birthday Ride. It was lovely to see you both. Happy times!! 🚲 🚲

Yes this is something we have in the pipeline 🚲

What a birthday trip, Scotch broth, snowballs and a wee bit wind, iongantach.
Thank you so much 😁 really passionate about the videos and constantly trying to learn and improve. So really chuffed to hear you think they're improving. The snowball was especially good😋
Absolutely loved this!. You two continue to make me smile with each new video. Thank you so much for this ❤
Don't know how you make the awful weather look so damned appealing and makes me want to load up my bike in winter and do the same but you do, well done.
Ah thanks :) Glad it has inspired you, though with the current weather, you'll be waiting a little while for a wintery adventure!

Looks like a wonderfully memorable trip.
Your videos are so great!
What a magical trip.. you are so lucky to have these adventures 🚵🚲💨🏰🏴
Hi Josh and Sarah Where did you get your little seats from ? I love them
Mountain warehouse 🙂
Another cracking video form you guys, this looked like one that would test you with that kind of weather but you stuck with it and we’re both still smiling all the time I think on this occasion having that opportunity to stay in the castle was a brilliant idea from your family and allowed you both to really enjoy the occasion. Thank you! Yes head winds and rain can be a real battle. The comfy stay helped us o feel replenished though 😌
This is making me inspired to get out there more ❤️ lovely video
Comments like this make us grin from ear to ear 😁
Some nice storytelling 👁️👁️
What a fab way to spend your birthday Josh. Best wishes to both of you!
Recent subscriber and really enjoy the films you create of your adventures.
Cheers to you both.
👍🏕️
Thank you 😁 really glad you enjoyed this one 🏴
Another beautiful video I hope you enjoyed your birthday Josh . It looked liked you did. I love the winter as I was born in February
Thank you, yes it was a beautiful and stormy trip. You must be used to blustery and chilly weather when you celebrate too 💨
Very enjoyable watch, love you two always so inspiring and entertaining 👍
Wonderful great film you guys are the best ❤❤.
Really enjoyed watching, thank you ☺️
A bit of luxury goes a long way. Safe journeys.
Beautiful video yet again ❤
Ditto Tim Wright before me, I love this vlog and my old bones are also living my youthful days through you two ☺. I spoke to you about losing my husband, Terry mrecently, so Im watching for the both of us. If we wanted luxury, it was unusually a youth hostel 😄. New subscriber! Came from the 1 year in a cottage video. Love your content 🤗
Same here!
Really glad you've stayed with us😁 hope you stick around!
Really relaxed video, (considering the circumstances!)
It is indeed a lovely part of the world 😊
😅yes despite the storms attempting to knock down the tent and us we felt pretty chilled. It really is a beautiful place to explore
Quality And integrity.
So cute in the tent like a couple of doormice😊 Have walked some of this route years back but you always get a dousing of Scottish wind &rain.nice post😅
Yes but dormice are cleverer than to set their hair on fire 🔥😅 I think we got a good dousing of that too!

Thank you 😁
Very strange seeing you ride the roads I cycle but you missed the best bit of Ayrshire, the North very very different and probably even more interesting!
Yes I can imagine so 🚲 ah which bit? We got the train from Prestwick and just travelled down
North of Prestwick is even nicer, Fairlie moor, Cumbrae is just a short ferry then the coast past Largs has amazing views of Bute etc which is another short ferry ride.

Yay, been waiting for this 🥰
Hi Guys, I really enjoy your videos and respect your fortitude and determination in some tough weather conditions. Can you tell me please, what fold up chairs you use and carry on all your trips?. Thx and keep doing what you're doing. Cheers Stuart
Thanks so much😁 not sure of the name but they are from mountain warehouse. Great little chairs for lightweight trips
Thank you 😊
Happy belated birthday Josh!
u were so lucky with the weather. I spent my childhood in Troon, 3 miles north of Prestwich and i can confirm it does rain everyday in Ayrshire.
Everyday 😮 well we were very lucky then 😅 only had a couple of days if thr wind trying to take us out.
Happy birthday! Thank you for inspiring video and journey. Did you take the trip in January?
Yes it was the end of January into early Feb. Thank you!
Great vlog, whys it your last time in Scotland :(
What was the coconut ball please and did Sarah let you have any lol?
Oh & happy birthday.
There may be one more trip 😉 it was called a snowball, very delicious! I manged to steal a bite 😅 she was quite protective. thank you!
I’d love to know how many miles your bikes have done in total. Have you had them from New. Fantastic video as always.
Ah I would too. No we brought them second hand and they'd already had their fair share of adventures. They're Trolls from Surly who make quality bikes made to travel many many miles
