The RS is tuned for more peak power and has a Desmo-actuated valvetrain, while the PP w/UpMap & Akra Decat makes 180-hp, has great midrange torque, and a traditional, 39k mile maintenance interval valvetrain. Along with the price premium (+$6k USD), in my case it didn't make sense to ditch the PP for the RS.
@@aeroman5239 Mapping it gave it pretty much the motor feel of my KTM SD GT--which is really nice. More direct and punchy for sure. This is becoming a requirement fr all modern bikes as they struggle to meet emissions. The real motor is hidden within. BMW even worse as far as power held back. But to your point--mapped PP is a great true two up with bags, sport tour machine.
When you lose track of how many times the reviewer laughs during the ride - indicative of a great ride! I have owned a '22 MTS V4 PP since it became available in Spring '22, and the Ohlins suspension really gives you the flexibility to canyon carve one minute (Sport or Race mode), and then go for an extended cruise on the highway (Touring mode) without abusing your body. As for fairing protection, I have the Ducati touring screen installed, and at speeds over 75 clicks, you can sit "in a bubble" without much buffeting. Ducati did a great job with the aerodynamics to address the sport "touring" aspect. As for tire pressures (real-time), Ducati does not offer TPMS sensors stock, however, you can buy the sensors from the accessory catalog, have them installed with the replacement tires when you wear-out the 1st set of skins, and then the dealer can activate TPMS in the S/W. Oh, I know MJ is familiar with this road, and the speeds reflect it, but what is unappreciated is the pavement doesn't look the best in many sections of that ride, yet between the tires, the suspension, and his riding technique (and confidence), the PP was never upset. It's similar to what I've experienced now with over 2 years of riding the PP. And yes, it is soooo easy to go fast...
I absolutely love my Multistrada v4 pikes peak, I got it this past November, i got the heated grips + heated seat, amazing how comfortable I am riding it in mid 30s (probably wouldn't ride it in under 30 degrees), here in Michigan there's not much twisty roads, but i absolutely love riding it through country roads and the scenery, they can get a bit twisty. Can't wait to take it all over Northern Michigan and Upper Peninsula camping along the way next Summer.
The multistrada line is one of the most underrated bike lines out there. To me this is probably the best touring cross platform that has been made. I’ve rode a few models and have friends w some and every time they never stop impressing me on what they can do. I can’t wait to get me one. Doing my due diligence for the perfect fit. Be skillful out there yall.
I"ve had my Pikes Peak for over a year now and still cant wait to ride it. I use Urban mode for street riding and Sport mode for the canyons. That V4 is arguably the best motorcycle engine made, the suspension is amazing and super adjustable, the brakes are the same as the Panigale, It looks amazing, has adaptive cruise control and lane blind spot monitoring, and the sound with the full Akra system is intoxicating. For my type of riding it is unparalleled!
@@fentontaylor9021 Make sure you check the Preload settings in the Settings>Race>Preload section. I found that Ducati defaulted to 24/24 in almost all of the suspension modes, or the highest setting. Since I typically ride by myself a majority of the time, I have the Preload dialed-back to 6/24 and also the "Single Helmet" selected.
Love it! I own the 2024 pikes peak and also have the full Akra exhaust and man I love that sound. (I have a bunch of videos on it on my channel) Great review! Two points I’ll make. It not only has cruise control, it has adaptive cruise control which is awesome. Second, that windshield is not stock, looks higher than stock and maybe why such good wind protection you mentioned. Thanks for sharing 🤙
I remember taking the motorman class with you in FL and some guy had rode this bike all the way from DC to take the course. My 1st time seeing this bike in person. Happy New Year Greg 🎊🎆🙏🏻
Greg, that's exactly how I felt the first time I rode my '22 Multistrada: immediately comfortable and confident. Best bike I've ever owned...by far. By the way, that's Otay Lakes Road, south east of San Diego, not Palomar. I read many comments stating it was Palomar. Palomar is on the northern edge of San Diego County, pretty far from Otay Lakes Rd. I grew up in that area.
I have a XR, I love it. If you wanna stick with yamaha care to look into thr tracer? It's a sport touring bike i owned one before I got the xr. Did 536 miles in one day on it. From Detroit to mammoth cave Kentucky and then the air bnb. Has 900cc, come with detachable bags sounds nice with pipe.
The Multistrada V4S became the Danish police new bike last year, there were some issues in the beginning with the brakes and it's the first bike where they use a chain drive, however it's maintenance free, but the change the chain every 9000 miles, no oiling at all and so far it seems to work.
What ear plugs do you use? Anything specially made for riding? The ones I have help a little but I'm convinced there are probably better options out there... maybe?
I recently test rode two Multis at my local dealer. If you haven't tried one of the V4S variants, you are missing out. Just make sure you do it with the rider aids turned OFF so you can see what she's really like. ;-)
Not judging a bike on looks and just strictly performance. ❤ that BMW looks I think they are on point with their new generation. There whole range for that matter.
Does anyone know the exact screen type/model that the Pikes Peak had on? I need something with more wind protection for a few longer trips I have planned! Get video as always!
A year ago 44Teeth did a Ducati intro-track-day at Silverstone. Hilarious and very depressing for the superbikes getting passed by the Multistrada with slicks... Rider dependent obviously... But just what you absolutely need for a gravel fire-road... or snow.
@@jahyoda the XR is very nimble on Palomar and Mesa Grande. But I’m more comfortable on the Ducati for longer rides so it fits me better than BMW. Other than that, they are both outstanding bikes.
Another old bike review back by popular demand because I do the most depth, fully researched reviews of all time instagram.com/motojitsuclub/
I had the S1000XR. Then I had the Pikes Peak. Then I got the RS. For me and how I like to ride, the MultiStrada RS is the ultimate in Sport Touring.
Do you mean the ultimate riding machine?? 😂😂😂

What's the speed limit on this road? Is it at 130 mp/h?
