Jagex shouldnt cater the game to the top 1%, if it passed the poll that means the majority of the community wants it, the fact that they are even entertaining a pause on it due to a few content creators not liking it without even trying it says alot like they have no backbone. all they had to say was. we are making a beta before we push it into live game. you can test it out, there problem solved.

I would rather the aligned prayers act like an augment to existing prayers rather than having even more to select from. Like "From now on X prayer will have Y added effect" because it seems a bit complicated with what theyve shown.
I had the same thought, given how much they seem to want to add new Redemption variants. I like the Vows for Zaros (even if I wish Glacies was still magic defense debuffing), but not all of the alignments need to be that complex. Even something as simple as "Saradomin alignment adds minor recoil to your protect prayers" could be viable without being too strong.
I'm cool with the prayers that aren't just incremental number buffs tacked onto prayer. The Slumber one from Saren seems interesting... But that was literally the only one lmao
Slumber from Seren seemed super nice. The Glacies' vow also seemed really interesting, not too sure where it would end up being used but I would be interested in finding any uses for that. Otherwise they all seemed solidly meh.
I felt like the vast majority of the prayers were incredibly niche with the exception of like one zaros one and one seren one that seemed absolutely insane. Not against the idea still but wasn't particularly excited looking at what they proposed
I think they're adding too much too quickly, it's becoming increasingly more complex, we got Varlamore and Sailing coming out at some point, we don't need much changes to combat
They have to.. because of plug-ins. It's the same reason retail wow mythic raids are insane mechanics wise... once you allow all these add-ons, you have to make the game harder to combat how much knowledge the add-ons allow people to skip. Thank goodness they removed the ones that counted for you or show the next prayer to use base on the code... but even with the ones we still have, they allow a below average player to compete at level only people like woox could do back before them. Tile markers alone made the content have to be designed 5x harder... let alone the add-ons for tick timings and prayer usage.
Ruinous Powers were kind of a mess. Many of them weren't worth the trade-off outside of speedruns. God-alignment prayer addon is a way better idea, if they are adamant on a prayer book change. ♥️
Interesting concept but too may prayer options as 4 per god, perhaps limit it too 1 per God then dependent on alignments. Less scary for all involved. Simple buffs in healing, dps, prayer drain, defense depending on the faction?
I would suggest a visual update of how these prayers work. They had use doing some algebra trying to figure out what prayer does what. Test it out some side servers and give us example of how they work so were not blind sided.
A visual update to the existing prayers, alongside new prayers could be cool. If there were animations tied to certain prayers being active, or even just adjusted existing animations while some prayers were active, that could be a nice change to the current rsc style implantation. Though, myself and plenty of others are pretty partial to little icons floating above our heads at this point.
As an outsider to the game (I basically only watch for content) it's a bit sad to see how the prayer change ideas have went. Ruinous powers was an idea people were on-board with initially, but it was essentially just a straight upgrade to the standard prayer book if you played perfectly. People didn't like that, not just because it required players to play at high-level for it to be effective, but also because it was too similar to the standard prayer book. People were attached to the standard prayer book, but they also wanted something different. The god-alignment idea was in turn, a response to this, because it allows you to still use the majority of the standard prayer book, with some new side-grades that could be beneficial in some but not all places. The idea is not unlike a new spellbook, in that sense. Ancient, Arceuus, and Lunars all have their respective niches. These prayers sound like they would have a similar function. People are very on board with the *idea* of this, but when actually shown - even in just a bare concept - people despise it. What I will agree on is that prayers suck because they have no feedback, and the new prayers seem to be shifting away from OSRS' core gameplay. But, I think people should keep in mind that these are all just concepts, with the devs going so far as to put things like X% and Y% to show that these are far from final. Additionally, if these prayers are against the spirit of the game, then what new prayers *would* be befitting of osrs? straight upgrades to the standard prayer book? I do think one clear example people have said though is to add a skilling prayer book. Having prayers that could speed up skilling, but cost more prayer and as such more GP through prayer pots or prayer gear would be a great way to balance it. More XP = Less GP. They've already done this with felling axes. And there's already been some experimentation with prayer helping with skilling through spells like vile-vigour. The only issue with prayer skills (abd it might be the reason jagex has shyed away from talking about this) is that skilling is generally a very low-risk environment. Trade off of high prayer bonus armor not having much defense is gone in this situation. It's only beneficial. I do think it would be a good way to promote more use of these niche items (holy boots, vestment robes, cape of souls (lol)) but in turn the prayers would need to have a high drain rate, or low bonuses to balance that out.
the thing about ruinous powers is that they passed a poll, and then some virgin redditor cried and they removed them, the player base wanted them and jagex took them away, odds are these would pass a poll esp when theyre ironed out, but polls mean nothing and crying on reddit means everything.
im a big fan of skilling prayers as well, seren seemed liked the best idea for that because in game it seems to be the less combat shown boss? that or guthix, i dunno i think it would be really good
I don't remember people getting all up in arms when the curses came out pre-EOC. If anything, back then goliath gloves, korasi, dungeoneering weapons were the real power creep. Why not just bring the curses back?
here is a neat idea: SKILLING PRAYERS! this way it doesnt need to be ultra complex and hyper balanced around super specific boss fights, wr can just get some simple stuff like perhaps one prayer gives a 5% chance to auto enchant a jewelery when crafting or so on.
Just add morphs, depending which god you allign with, 1-2 prayers change to a morphed version and then add a single god prayer to the slot that missing at the end of the prayer book and done. For example - under Guthix, your redemption morphs into nature's redemption. Ez Pz
That’s just the same thing but worse. Imo there’s nothing wrong with their current pitch. If u don’t like it ur not forced to use it, and if u genuinely think it’s too complicated idk how you’ve played the game this long. But the main point is that adding new shit makes the game more fun. New mechanics generate new interactions and unlock more areas of the game to either improve on or add to.
i think the issue is there needs to be a high amount of testing done when it comes to things like this, the recent beta test of the scrapped prayers didnt even come out for long and people already found ways to make them busted, people want to avoid things like that, as long as they are tested for a mid amount of time and they function properly then there should not be a reason why not to implement new prayers.@@lampisfun1139
I'm sure we're all fine with new prayer books. What we're not fine with is the prayer book having cooldowns to keep track of, basically making them inadvertently just 'abilities'. Might as well add an ability bar and let us put the magebook spells on it too. Not to mention, prayers that would otherwise make doing things without them inefficient, even in things like skilling. Nobody wants that sh!t. Everybody right now can make an account and feel like they have the fair level playing field with the difficulty of leveling a skill, other than boosting yourself by trading gold from a main. A prayer book like they've shown will change that.
I wish they'd just fucking bring out curses already - and remove the polling system, or at least reduce it's hold over the game - you're not going to please everyone and we'll still be talking about a potential of new prayers in 50years at this rate ... just release curses like pre-eoc, including a heavy nerf to soulsplit and move on
If endless flicking is an issue people are worried about, make the alignment prayers drain a set amount of prayer points in 1 shot, say you turn on the "guthix make me hit more accurately" and it takes 30 prayer points, then the prayer is on for 1 minute. Then limit it to 1 alighnment buff at a time.
Honestly, I think this is one case where they could maybe draw from Melvor Idle - which has a very different system of prayer draining. Specifically, if you have an offensive prayer, it drains your prayer only when you actually make an attack with it, rather than constantly draining.
@@lampisfun1139 Like what? If you're talking about things like Cruor's Vow, that drains prayer when you kill an enemy AND also regularly drains prayer while it's active, meaning that you still would be incentivized to flick.
I actually liked all of the new prayers. Some of them were more situational than others, but they're certainly an improvement over our very limited prayer book right now. Screw the content creators who don't want to expand the prayer book.
Yeah that's your ping from slow internet or your computer. Try turning graphics settings down. The idea is to have the prayer initiated already the moment the hitspat shows up or the animation is initiated.
Personally i think the prayers and more importantly the concept is pretty cool. Might need some ironing out but i do hope we get alignment prayers at some point.
Simple. The god alignments are just upgrades to existing prayers. Nothing crazy fancy. Just very small if not fractional percentage boosts to current prayers. End game content rewards being marginally better gear is pretty normal in both RS and other MMOs alike. It doesn't need to be fancy or flashy to save you hundreds of hours. Why does better need to always mean something so stupidly complex than most players will never engage with the content?
I think the 9Rain fit was an extreme exaggeration as to what the change WOULD be.. it's just a drop-down of additional prayers ontop of our regular one... like... as a maxed player I fail to see what the harm is of just adding additional content? We need to move forward guys, and if it came out broken they'd fix it til it worked. Feel like we should give Jagex a break.
cox has tbow, eldermaul, kodai, d claws and ancestral. they even originally polled elder armour to go with the elder maul and that got shut down, cox has waaaay to much good shit on its drop table
New prayers are a really cool idea, but can we get more stuff like "Slumber" for Seren and less stuff that triggers non prayer buffs/debuffs? Prayers have always been buffs themselves that give you cool effects. Why have this system to trigger extra non prayer effects with a prayer based off of various triggers when you can just do those effects with the prayer? Feels like a lot of these suggested prayers just incentivize flicking the prayer at the right time rather than actually using the prayer for any duration.
Just make new god alignments be part of an extra equip slot like a sigil. Each sigil givea different bonuses such as increased accuracy/damage/bleed, etc..depending on the god, sort of like prayer books but more. They can even create requirements for unlocking them or a minigame/quest. That way you don't have more clutter.
honestly I think the major prayers should drain a point upon activation, but have a lower drain rate. And perhaps some of them should scale over time as activated. This would shift the power from flicking to actually having them be active like they were always meant to be. Maybe make the pots and such which restore prayer do so a bit more to help balance things out. Generally though prayer needs a slight nerf. The basic spell book prayers are all either nearly useless or mandatory. There is just too much power on the good ones forcing any new prayer system to follow the same conventions, making any new prayers becoming either too weak to matter most of the time, or too overpowered. At some point though, we have to accept power creep if we want new content. New content has to do something better than everything else to be relevant. If these new prayers suck and are never useful, then why add them at all? Why is it that players doing grandmaster quests gaining access to a bit more power a bad thing? A new set of tier 70 gear isn't gonna be useful for anyone who already has objectively better tier 80 gear. Literally all 3 raids are anti OSRS and pro Power creep. All the new Best in slot items over the last decade show it. This is hardly all that different from the CoX prayers. Sure some of them need to be tweaked, but we all know we expect and WANT these new prayers to be powerful if they come out, especially since they would be grandmaster quest rewards. I don't see why spending prayer (probably a lot of it) for a weaker anti-venom is a game breaking issue, nor why Holding still to gain defense would ever be a real problem with just the tiniest of considerations (not absurdly more defense, most bosses force you to move anyway and there is no way this would stop more than a few of those things, and you could always make it require standing still for several ticks before it takes effect.) This fear is mostly overreaction. I see how Guthix could be a real problem in PK scenarios, but that is it. The rest of them could just as easily be useless as they could be broken, its not all that hard to just tweak the numbers a bit to find that middle ground where they are just good.

I would prefer passive effects rather than an actual prayer you toggle on and off for prayer points. Your god alignment should provide multiple passive boosts to your account/possibly even debuffs to balance them out. For example, guthix could permanently increase passive skilling abilities like time to catch a fish, or boosting speed on farming, higher energy %, etc. bandos could permanently increase defense bonus, and passive effects on armor. Zamorak could increase magic bonus, etc. They should be easily interchangeable but sort of how you change your spell books. Maybe a god altar or something. They could also poll permanent account god alignments but lock them behind a high level quest line that discovers the different buffs. Idk I think this idea is better than toggle on/off prayers. So lame.
The only prayer of interest to the PvP community would be a new prayer around lvl 50 that gives 17.5% att str def in one prayer for 1-69 def accounts. Other than that don’t mess with the prayer skill. Stick to item/weapon/armour effects.
Why are they so hell bent on the idea of prayers? Why not permanent buffs/deuffs akin to the God you choose? Make changing the God alignment cost bones... or prayer xp items. Sara - prayer drains slower and you get more xp when receiving prayer xp. Zammy - prayer drains faster, 5% damage bonus against non demon/dark enemies, gain 50% xp from sources. All non demon/ dark creatures are aggressive until the alignment is changed. Regardless of combat lvl Guth - all non dark creatures and animals are non aggressive regardless of your combat lvl. Ent have guth rolls from treasure trails. Buffs to earth magic spells... a monster you can only kill on this alignment that drops and earth tome and mossy pages... Iunno I just thought of these ones in 5 minutes... the community could make these "alignments" awesome. The goal wouldn't be force one alignment forever. You would be able to swap them for bones offered... items related to each God or what they represent... lava dragon scales for zammy, herblore pots Noone uses for guth, something Sara like for Sara... It could create value for items without any currently... and it wiukd provide an incentive to quest and level up your accounts progression to unlock all the alignments so you can swap for bonuses on whatever you are doing. Please by all means, expand on this idea! It could provide somw of the none hardcore pvmers with a reason to keep progressing and questing.
I was all about the new prayer until I read AATYKON comment, a true slap to reality, I'm not prayer and armor switching offence and defense on every tick. it's not about skill is about how fun is for the player experience and not to say it starts to feel like a we getting abilities with cooldowns.
I think the prayers aren't as bad as ppl have complained about them, the concept is good. At the beggining ofc you'd have to make some choices to where to use them, but that'll be the fun part. Most of them aren't bad, I'm like 80% positive about this and I've voted positive overall. I think some of the prayers are broken and I'd prefferably have some utility/skilling prayers, but overall its a good concept. Players also who have completed DT2 will have some game knowledge, its not as these prayers are for granted, you need to complete end game quests for them which will take like 300 hours + of gametime.
would be cool to give some of the pets perks like summoning had in RS3 like how that Ibis bird gave fish while you were fishing...the beaver could give you some logs while you're wcing and so on...
Im fine with the prayers idea but maybe a bit more smaller numbers and maybe they can do some videos on how it would work in actuality and not just numbers that confuse people. Cause yea i dont think the average OSRS player that cant even get through quest text dump to read a well thought out blog post with numbers and maths and actually have a thought out response other then "This is confusing, Idk, no" lmao so a rewording and well thought out video even on the Jagex channel or something would be better then a blog text dump :) Just wish people would leave helpful feedback and actually make it valid when stating their opinions on it, cause i think the games META has been too stale for far too long, and this is forsure something to move the game forward in the right direction for the future content, able to make it more compelling more complex then just "eat food, prayer switch, GG" like they need the space to make some more mechanics and i think something like this is the way to go. We dont need 10 new BIS weapons, we dont need 10 new BIS gear pieces atleast not ALL THE TIME, WE NEED SOMETHING NEW LIKE THIS. The natural progression for Runescapes "Power" is Prayers. and if Not prayers, What else? And i hope people can leave valid feedback to help Jagex make changes according to how they and the community sees fit.
I know most don't want this, but I still wish The Temple at Senntisten was in the game and you could unlock Ancient Curses. I always dreamed of getting Turmoil when I was a kid but never made it that far. I've achieved most of my childhood goals in OSRS (Firecape, 99 in a skill, etc..) but I still wish to accomblish this one.

i literally came up with like 7-10 different unique prayers that completely avoided direct power creep, while also still keeping the regular prayers still viable and relevant, all in about 5 minutes of thinking.. these prayers seem to give far more negatives than positives which makes the whole idea pointless.
I like all of the prayers. Don’t @ me. Especially slumber, the glacious one and the redemptions. They absolutely should add the prayers and it’s fucking brilliant. Maybe they need to make it less magic -esque like vulnerability and shit like that but I think the prayers are actually pretty cool.
9Rain is so wrong lol. If he really wanted to see his clicks "acted out in game" he'd play RS3 where every button on your hotbar has some bullshit and an animation. I love the proposed prayers, and I do think they add mechanical depth to enable more interacting with the game. They encourage team coordination, gear switching, and timing/setup. Nowhere in the post did it look to me like you were going to be spamming your prayers.
The ONLY prayer book I think would be good for the game is if it was skilling focused, kinda like Lunar spells. I think when Ruinous Powers were first proposed they had several ideas for skilling prayers. That would give the new prayers a niche use and doesn’t replace the current ones, while adding a little something to arguably the most boring part of the game. It’s just my opinion, don’t kill me.
I thought the new prayers looked cool. Maybe a bit odd in usefullness, but it was something new. I've played this game since 2007. I want new stuff. I want cool and different strategies, I want to hit high numbers accurately. Just have fun. But it seems like everyone defends this game getting new content, like their life would end if the game got an update. Seems like new content will never get added.

It's genuinely tiring not being able to see OSRS make substantially engaging changes as Jagex constantly try to meet halfway with the unwavering purist community while still shoehorning in new ideas. The god-alignment prayers are a fantastic concept, and would for the first time really legitimise the sense of a 'build'/'role' to a lot of casual players. But the problem is that they will never be implemented in such a way that they are just straight-up applicable for general use in content, and will always be this niche, ultra-specific, marginally-different buff that influences next to fucking nothing. It's just the defeatist nature of modern OSRS's design. It reminds me of how someone would take lunar spellbook into GWD to share potions with teammates and to put vengeance on tank. You could have one person bring Seren, one person bring Zaros, and be benefitting each other in ways unique to your choices. That's the sort of niche shit we need to engage with to make runescape expand on what makes it feel great, instead of reinforcing this really linear way of playing.
I've always hated the idea of new prayer books because last time they introduced one of those I spent my bank on bones just for them to ruin the whole entire game not too much later.

Pretty misleading thumbnail. Just like Aatykon assuming that this prayer would be meta shifting when we don't even know the X% yet. I'm okay with him being biased against a defense meta, but we legitimately don't know if that prayer will be any reasonable %, it's more likely just going to be used for afk blood barraging or noobs that still melee tank gwd.
if anything make prayer book that would boost your skill strength.. like you use mining lvl to hit on mining related bosses harder.. and devolpe new skilling bossing content. idk im drunk
new prayers are just powercreep for the sake of powercreep, powercreep should come slowly from pvm content that adds something to the game like new raids, or new boss encounters in general. If anything let us upgrade rigour augury and piety as a reward from raids 4 tbh.
How would players feel if instead of adding the prayer worldwide, allow players to add 1 of 4 to each region that they could pick/ toggle on or off. It changes enough for most places to feel different while granting boosts and bonuses. By not giving a metric ton of crap most average player, even higher levels, will not use or understand. I don't understand changing fundament parts of OSRS. Adding onto existing content keeps player feeling like the world is growing with them, i understand. Tweaking and fixing broken mechanics, loot tables, and bugs is a must to keep player engaged, likewise. However, having the world change its fundamental distances Elders while alienating Newcomers to the world of Gielinor.
God alignments are over-complicating the game and is 1 step closer to the same EOC mistake. I also think the new elemental weakness and ranged weaknesses are a slippery slope

honestly i just want to see some sort of turmoil animation back in the game. that cool leech animation that bounces back from player to player. but i feel like osrs always has to make to make things its own special thing like the balista id rather have the hand cannon the animation looks so much better and just looked cooler. but thats just me players will always hate an update no matter what. im surprised sailing is passing i wouldnt touch that skill with a 10ft pole. Id rather have summoning with no extra inventory just pets lol.
i think the new prayers look great, and i love the idea. i think its so annoying a original great idea is being labeled too rs3 like and too complicated.

I would rather the aligned prayers act like an augment to existing prayers rather than having even more to select from. Like "From now on X prayer will have Y added effect" because it seems a bit complicated with what theyve shown.
I had the same thought, given how much they seem to want to add new Redemption variants.
I like the Vows for Zaros (even if I wish Glacies was still magic defense debuffing), but not all of the alignments need to be that complex. Even something as simple as "Saradomin alignment adds minor recoil to your protect prayers" could be viable without being too strong.
"Natures redemption" is literally just what redemption already is? it just heals for more than the current redemption.
I'm cool with the prayers that aren't just incremental number buffs tacked onto prayer.

Slumber from Seren seemed super nice. The Glacies' vow also seemed really interesting, not too sure where it would end up being used but I would be interested in finding any uses for that. Otherwise they all seemed solidly meh.

I felt like the vast majority of the prayers were incredibly niche with the exception of like one zaros one and one seren one that seemed absolutely insane. Not against the idea still but wasn't particularly excited looking at what they proposed
I think they're adding too much too quickly, it's becoming increasingly more complex, we got Varlamore and Sailing coming out at some point, we don't need much changes to combat

They have to.. because of plug-ins. It's the same reason retail wow mythic raids are insane mechanics wise... once you allow all these add-ons, you have to make the game harder to combat how much knowledge the add-ons allow people to skip. Thank goodness they removed the ones that counted for you or show the next prayer to use base on the code... but even with the ones we still have, they allow a below average player to compete at level only people like woox could do back before them.
Tile markers alone made the content have to be designed 5x harder... let alone the add-ons for tick timings and prayer usage.
Ruinous Powers were kind of a mess. Many of them weren't worth the trade-off outside of speedruns. God-alignment prayer addon is a way better idea, if they are adamant on a prayer book change. ♥️
Interesting concept but too may prayer options as 4 per god, perhaps limit it too 1 per God then dependent on alignments. Less scary for all involved. Simple buffs in healing, dps, prayer drain, defense depending on the faction?
I would suggest a visual update of how these prayers work. They had use doing some algebra trying to figure out what prayer does what. Test it out some side servers and give us example of how they work so were not blind sided.
A visual update to the existing prayers, alongside new prayers could be cool. If there were animations tied to certain prayers being active, or even just adjusted existing animations while some prayers were active, that could be a nice change to the current rsc style implantation. Though, myself and plenty of others are pretty partial to little icons floating above our heads at this point.

As an outsider to the game (I basically only watch for content) it's a bit sad to see how the prayer change ideas have went.
Ruinous powers was an idea people were on-board with initially, but it was essentially just a straight upgrade to the standard prayer book if you played perfectly.
People didn't like that, not just because it required players to play at high-level for it to be effective, but also because it was too similar to the standard prayer book.
People were attached to the standard prayer book, but they also wanted something different.
The god-alignment idea was in turn, a response to this, because it allows you to still use the majority of the standard prayer book, with some new side-grades that could be beneficial in some but not all places. The idea is not unlike a new spellbook, in that sense. Ancient, Arceuus, and Lunars all have their respective niches. These prayers sound like they would have a similar function.
People are very on board with the *idea* of this, but when actually shown - even in just a bare concept - people despise it.
What I will agree on is that prayers suck because they have no feedback, and the new prayers seem to be shifting away from OSRS' core gameplay.
But, I think people should keep in mind that these are all just concepts, with the devs going so far as to put things like X% and Y% to show that these are far from final.
Additionally, if these prayers are against the spirit of the game, then what new prayers *would* be befitting of osrs? straight upgrades to the standard prayer book?
I do think one clear example people have said though is to add a skilling prayer book. Having prayers that could speed up skilling, but cost more prayer and as such more GP through prayer pots or prayer gear would be a great way to balance it. More XP = Less GP. They've already done this with felling axes. And there's already been some experimentation with prayer helping with skilling through spells like vile-vigour.
The only issue with prayer skills (abd it might be the reason jagex has shyed away from talking about this) is that skilling is generally a very low-risk environment. Trade off of high prayer bonus armor not having much defense is gone in this situation. It's only beneficial. I do think it would be a good way to promote more use of these niche items (holy boots, vestment robes, cape of souls (lol)) but in turn the prayers would need to have a high drain rate, or low bonuses to balance that out.
the thing about ruinous powers is that they passed a poll, and then some virgin redditor cried and they removed them, the player base wanted them and jagex took them away, odds are these would pass a poll esp when theyre ironed out, but polls mean nothing and crying on reddit means everything.
im a big fan of skilling prayers as well, seren seemed liked the best idea for that because in game it seems to be the less combat shown boss? that or guthix, i dunno i think it would be really good
I don't remember people getting all up in arms when the curses came out pre-EOC. If anything, back then goliath gloves, korasi, dungeoneering weapons were the real power creep. Why not just bring the curses back?
here is a neat idea: SKILLING PRAYERS! this way it doesnt need to be ultra complex and hyper balanced around super specific boss fights, wr can just get some simple stuff like perhaps one prayer gives a 5% chance to auto enchant a jewelery when crafting or so on.

Just add morphs, depending which god you allign with, 1-2 prayers change to a morphed version and then add a single god prayer to the slot that missing at the end of the prayer book and done. For example - under Guthix, your redemption morphs into nature's redemption. Ez Pz
That’s just the same thing but worse. Imo there’s nothing wrong with their current pitch. If u don’t like it ur not forced to use it, and if u genuinely think it’s too complicated idk how you’ve played the game this long. But the main point is that adding new shit makes the game more fun. New mechanics generate new interactions and unlock more areas of the game to either improve on or add to.
i think the issue is there needs to be a high amount of testing done when it comes to things like this, the recent beta test of the scrapped prayers didnt even come out for long and people already found ways to make them busted, people want to avoid things like that, as long as they are tested for a mid amount of time and they function properly then there should not be a reason why not to implement new prayers.@@lampisfun1139
I'm sure we're all fine with new prayer books. What we're not fine with is the prayer book having cooldowns to keep track of, basically making them inadvertently just 'abilities'. Might as well add an ability bar and let us put the magebook spells on it too. Not to mention, prayers that would otherwise make doing things without them inefficient, even in things like skilling. Nobody wants that sh!t. Everybody right now can make an account and feel like they have the fair level playing field with the difficulty of leveling a skill, other than boosting yourself by trading gold from a main. A prayer book like they've shown will change that.
I wish they'd just fucking bring out curses already - and remove the polling system, or at least reduce it's hold over the game - you're not going to please everyone and we'll still be talking about a potential of new prayers in 50years at this rate ... just release curses like pre-eoc, including a heavy nerf to soulsplit and move on

If endless flicking is an issue people are worried about, make the alignment prayers drain a set amount of prayer points in 1 shot, say you turn on the "guthix make me hit more accurately" and it takes 30 prayer points, then the prayer is on for 1 minute. Then limit it to 1 alighnment buff at a time.
Honestly, I think this is one case where they could maybe draw from Melvor Idle - which has a very different system of prayer draining. Specifically, if you have an offensive prayer, it drains your prayer only when you actually make an attack with it, rather than constantly draining.

I actually liked all of the new prayers. Some of them were more situational than others, but they're certainly an improvement over our very limited prayer book right now. Screw the content creators who don't want to expand the prayer book.

Simple. The god alignments are just upgrades to existing prayers. Nothing crazy fancy. Just very small if not fractional percentage boosts to current prayers. End game content rewards being marginally better gear is pretty normal in both RS and other MMOs alike. It doesn't need to be fancy or flashy to save you hundreds of hours. Why does better need to always mean something so stupidly complex than most players will never engage with the content?
I think the 9Rain fit was an extreme exaggeration as to what the change WOULD be.. it's just a drop-down of additional prayers ontop of our regular one... like... as a maxed player I fail to see what the harm is of just adding additional content? We need to move forward guys, and if it came out broken they'd fix it til it worked. Feel like we should give Jagex a break.

cox has tbow, eldermaul, kodai, d claws and ancestral. they even originally polled elder armour to go with the elder maul and that got shut down, cox has waaaay to much good shit on its drop table

New prayers are a really cool idea, but can we get more stuff like "Slumber" for Seren and less stuff that triggers non prayer buffs/debuffs? Prayers have always been buffs themselves that give you cool effects. Why have this system to trigger extra non prayer effects with a prayer based off of various triggers when you can just do those effects with the prayer? Feels like a lot of these suggested prayers just incentivize flicking the prayer at the right time rather than actually using the prayer for any duration.
Just make new god alignments be part of an extra equip slot like a sigil. Each sigil givea different bonuses such as increased accuracy/damage/bleed, etc..depending on the god, sort of like prayer books but more. They can even create requirements for unlocking them or a minigame/quest. That way you don't have more clutter.
honestly I think the major prayers should drain a point upon activation, but have a lower drain rate. And perhaps some of them should scale over time as activated. This would shift the power from flicking to actually having them be active like they were always meant to be. Maybe make the pots and such which restore prayer do so a bit more to help balance things out. Generally though prayer needs a slight nerf. The basic spell book prayers are all either nearly useless or mandatory. There is just too much power on the good ones forcing any new prayer system to follow the same conventions, making any new prayers becoming either too weak to matter most of the time, or too overpowered.
At some point though, we have to accept power creep if we want new content. New content has to do something better than everything else to be relevant. If these new prayers suck and are never useful, then why add them at all? Why is it that players doing grandmaster quests gaining access to a bit more power a bad thing? A new set of tier 70 gear isn't gonna be useful for anyone who already has objectively better tier 80 gear. Literally all 3 raids are anti OSRS and pro Power creep. All the new Best in slot items over the last decade show it. This is hardly all that different from the CoX prayers. Sure some of them need to be tweaked, but we all know we expect and WANT these new prayers to be powerful if they come out, especially since they would be grandmaster quest rewards. I don't see why spending prayer (probably a lot of it) for a weaker anti-venom is a game breaking issue, nor why Holding still to gain defense would ever be a real problem with just the tiniest of considerations (not absurdly more defense, most bosses force you to move anyway and there is no way this would stop more than a few of those things, and you could always make it require standing still for several ticks before it takes effect.)
This fear is mostly overreaction. I see how Guthix could be a real problem in PK scenarios, but that is it. The rest of them could just as easily be useless as they could be broken, its not all that hard to just tweak the numbers a bit to find that middle ground where they are just good.
I was really looking forward to these - in fact, I think the alignment prayers are awesome as is. I feel like people are way too quick to jump on the negativity bandwagon haha

I would prefer passive effects rather than an actual prayer you toggle on and off for prayer points. Your god alignment should provide multiple passive boosts to your account/possibly even debuffs to balance them out. For example, guthix could permanently increase passive skilling abilities like time to catch a fish, or boosting speed on farming, higher energy %, etc.
bandos could permanently increase defense bonus, and passive effects on armor.
Zamorak could increase magic bonus, etc. They should be easily interchangeable but sort of how you change your spell books. Maybe a god altar or something. They could also poll permanent account god alignments but lock them behind a high level quest line that discovers the different buffs. Idk I think this idea is better than toggle on/off prayers. So lame.

The only prayer of interest to the PvP community would be a new prayer around lvl 50 that gives 17.5% att str def in one prayer for 1-69 def accounts. Other than that don’t mess with the prayer skill. Stick to item/weapon/armour effects.
Why are they so hell bent on the idea of prayers? Why not permanent buffs/deuffs akin to the God you choose? Make changing the God alignment cost bones... or prayer xp items.
Sara - prayer drains slower and you get more xp when receiving prayer xp.
Zammy - prayer drains faster, 5% damage bonus against non demon/dark enemies, gain 50% xp from sources. All non demon/ dark creatures are aggressive until the alignment is changed. Regardless of combat lvl
Guth - all non dark creatures and animals are non aggressive regardless of your combat lvl. Ent have guth rolls from treasure trails. Buffs to earth magic spells... a monster you can only kill on this alignment that drops and earth tome and mossy pages...

The goal wouldn't be force one alignment forever. You would be able to swap them for bones offered... items related to each God or what they represent... lava dragon scales for zammy, herblore pots Noone uses for guth, something Sara like for Sara...
It could create value for items without any currently... and it wiukd provide an incentive to quest and level up your accounts progression to unlock all the alignments so you can swap for bonuses on whatever you are doing.
Please by all means, expand on this idea! It could provide somw of the none hardcore pvmers with a reason to keep progressing and questing.

I was all about the new prayer until I read AATYKON comment, a true slap to reality, I'm not prayer and armor switching offence and defense on every tick. it's not about skill is about how fun is for the player experience and not to say it starts to feel like a we getting abilities with cooldowns.

I think the prayers aren't as bad as ppl have complained about them, the concept is good. At the beggining ofc you'd have to make some choices to where to use them, but that'll be the fun part. Most of them aren't bad, I'm like 80% positive about this and I've voted positive overall. I think some of the prayers are broken and I'd prefferably have some utility/skilling prayers, but overall its a good concept. Players also who have completed DT2 will have some game knowledge, its not as these prayers are for granted, you need to complete end game quests for them which will take like 300 hours + of gametime.
would be cool to give some of the pets perks like summoning had in RS3 like how that Ibis bird gave fish while you were fishing...the beaver could give you some logs while you're wcing and so on...

I know most don't want this, but I still wish The Temple at Senntisten was in the game and you could unlock Ancient Curses. I always dreamed of getting Turmoil when I was a kid but never made it that far. I've achieved most of my childhood goals in OSRS (Firecape, 99 in a skill, etc..) but I still wish to accomblish this one.
I feel like I'm the only one that doesn't find anything particularly "interesting" about these prayers? It also feels like too much being polled / released all at once

i literally came up with like 7-10 different unique prayers that completely avoided direct power creep, while also still keeping the regular prayers still viable and relevant, all in about 5 minutes of thinking.. these prayers seem to give far more negatives than positives which makes the whole idea pointless.

I love the proposed prayers, and I do think they add mechanical depth to enable more interacting with the game. They encourage team coordination, gear switching, and timing/setup.

The ONLY prayer book I think would be good for the game is if it was skilling focused, kinda like Lunar spells. I think when Ruinous Powers were first proposed they had several ideas for skilling prayers. That would give the new prayers a niche use and doesn’t replace the current ones, while adding a little something to arguably the most boring part of the game.
It’s just my opinion, don’t kill me.
God alignments are even more convoluted and rs3 like, they are adding more new "stats" than actual prayers...

I thought the new prayers looked cool. Maybe a bit odd in usefullness, but it was something new. I've played this game since 2007. I want new stuff. I want cool and different strategies, I want to hit high numbers accurately. Just have fun. But it seems like everyone defends this game getting new content, like their life would end if the game got an update. Seems like new content will never get added.

I play this game to have fun because it’s a video game. God alignments seem super fun! Why people crying over god alignments when we haven’t even seen what the beta would be like first
It's genuinely tiring not being able to see OSRS make substantially engaging changes as Jagex constantly try to meet halfway with the unwavering purist community while still shoehorning in new ideas. The god-alignment prayers are a fantastic concept, and would for the first time really legitimise the sense of a 'build'/'role' to a lot of casual players. But the problem is that they will never be implemented in such a way that they are just straight-up applicable for general use in content, and will always be this niche, ultra-specific, marginally-different buff that influences next to fucking nothing. It's just the defeatist nature of modern OSRS's design.
It reminds me of how someone would take lunar spellbook into GWD to share potions with teammates and to put vengeance on tank. You could have one person bring Seren, one person bring Zaros, and be benefitting each other in ways unique to your choices. That's the sort of niche shit we need to engage with to make runescape expand on what makes it feel great, instead of reinforcing this really linear way of playing.
I've always hated the idea of new prayer books because last time they introduced one of those I spent my bank on bones just for them to ruin the whole entire game not too much later.

Pretty misleading thumbnail. Just like Aatykon assuming that this prayer would be meta shifting when we don't even know the X% yet. I'm okay with him being biased against a defense meta, but we legitimately don't know if that prayer will be any reasonable %, it's more likely just going to be used for afk blood barraging or noobs that still melee tank gwd.

if anything make prayer book that would boost your skill strength.. like you use mining lvl to hit on mining related bosses harder.. and devolpe new skilling bossing content. idk im drunk
new prayers are just powercreep for the sake of powercreep, powercreep should come slowly from pvm content that adds something to the game like new raids, or new boss encounters in general. If anything let us upgrade rigour augury and piety as a reward from raids 4 tbh.

How would players feel if instead of adding the prayer worldwide, allow players to add 1 of 4 to each region that they could pick/ toggle on or off. It changes enough for most places to feel different while granting boosts and bonuses. By not giving a metric ton of crap most average player, even higher levels, will not use or understand.
I don't understand changing fundament parts of OSRS. Adding onto existing content keeps player feeling like the world is growing with them, i understand. Tweaking and fixing broken mechanics, loot tables, and bugs is a must to keep player engaged, likewise. However, having the world change its fundamental distances Elders while alienating Newcomers to the world of Gielinor.
God alignments are over-complicating the game and is 1 step closer to the same EOC mistake. I also think the new elemental weakness and ranged weaknesses are a slippery slope

honestly i just want to see some sort of turmoil animation back in the game. that cool leech animation that bounces back from player to player. but i feel like osrs always has to make to make things its own special thing like the balista id rather have the hand cannon the animation looks so much better and just looked cooler. but thats just me players will always hate an update no matter what. im surprised sailing is passing i wouldnt touch that skill with a 10ft pole. Id rather have summoning with no extra inventory just pets lol.

i think the new prayers look great, and i love the idea. i think its so annoying a original great idea is being labeled too rs3 like and too complicated.
