_"Shoot for the moon, kid. Shoot for the moon."_ R.I.P. Alan Arkin (1934-2023) the voice of Wild Knuckles, Little Gru’s favorite villain. Apparently this isn’t the first time that Alan and Steve Carell worked in the same project together as the two of them also worked together on other films such as _Get Smart, The Incredible Burt Wonderstone_ and especially the 2006 Indie Road trip Comedy-Drama film, _Little Miss Sunshine_ in which for the latter film, Alan won an Oscar for best supporting actor.
Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic this was the longest-advertised animated film in history, due to a two-year gap between its first trailer (February 2020) and its official release date (July 1, 2022). Apparently when it was first delayed to July 2, 2021 back in 2020 it was due to the closures of Illumination MacGuff in Paris from the COVID-19 Pandemic that prevented the staff from fully finishing the film on time, but I honestly never understood why in March of 2021, Illumination delayed the film once again to July 2022 when literally they just took a one year delay to complete the animation of the film unless it went through story revisions or changes and wanting to wait for audiences to be fully comfortable returning to theaters, considering back in Summer of 2021, their weren’t to many films making an impact as some went to be direct-to-streaming or weren’t giving strong box office with a few exceptions in theaters.
The time this movie came out was such an interesting time bc people wore suits to the theater and threw bananas at the screen and then those people were banned from theaters
I want to point out that despite being a sequel, this movie retcons the previous Minions movie. Nefario appears younger in this film despite looking similar to his older self in the previous movie. Plus this movie takes place 8 years after the first Minions movie, Gru is exactly the same as in that movie.
There was also retcons of the rest of the Despicable Me films considering Percy Perkins (Mr. Perkins) showed him a painted image of him and his son (Vector/Victor) to Gru and in the first Despicable Me Gru never recognized Vector/Victor nor connected the dots that was Mr. Perkins son.
@@EChacon you can explain that with Gru only briefly saw the picture of Vector, Gru was focused on the robbery, and there is a 30 year gap between this movie and DM1 that Gru most likely forgot about him.

They also worked on Get Smart together as well. A movie with The Rock and Anne Hathaway
@ Yes _Get Smart_ as well. Surprisingly I was going to edit it on my comment but got sidetracked for unknown reasons.
46:12 "shoot for the moon kid, shoot for the moon"
thats why Gru steals the moon in the first movie, thats a awesome detail
Oh neat

31:25 Mr Potato Head from Toy Story
There's a werewolf in the first Despicable Me.
The best part after this movie from Illumination is the Super Mario Bros. Movie!
23:56 that weirdly looks fun & horrifying at the same time
I have to say it was really cool what Wild Knuckles said at the end. “Shoot for the moon.” I guess he gave Gru the idea to steal the moon.
The final battle was intense!

7:28 callback of the first movie with the freeze ray
27:08 Best part ever

Vector and Gru being the same age is crazy XD
My Favorite part of the movie is The Vicious 6 turns into animals
I feel like Wild Knuckles's "death" is actually a foreshadow to his VA actually dying, RIP.
Please watch the 2003 Cat in the Hat movie?!
This definitely had the same vibe as the first Minions movie. At least this one was more prequel-ish.
